I was watching Sky Sports News earlier and Debbie Jevans (CEO of EFL) was discussing the situation at Bury. She went on to say that unlike the EPL Fit and Proper Persons test for directors and Chairmen, the EFL rules are flawed.
Steve Dale wasn’t checked out thoroughly and he would not have passed the Fit and Proper Persons Premier League checks. However let’s say he had agreed to take over an already relegated Premier League Club, he could wait until that team were to collect their football league share and take over without any issues.
Sound Familiar?
She went on to say it was time that the EFL adopted the EPL model before it was too late. We need to keep people like Dale away from taking control of clubs without any finances in place to run them. If the EFL doesn’t make a stand with Bolton and Bury then it opens it up for other shitesters to do exactly the same elsewhere.
I wonder why the take over took so long to complete.

I wonder why people keep making up fucking stories?
I’m not keen on him, but these conspiracy theories are tedious as fuck now. Wind ya neck in and stop shit stirring.

Perhaps a fit and proper "DATM posters" test would be a very good idea.

Phils a life long passionate town fan. He loves the club and has since he was a kid. Hes a very successful businessman who done well for himself and was hand picked by dean hoyle, someone who knows him very well, as the preferred option to take over the club from him. How theyve gone about that transition is their business.
He really doesn;t deserve this endless finger pointing and slurs on his character.

Blokes been in the job 6 weeks and taken more bashings than Dean did in 10 years. Some people need to give the guy a chance, I swear most of this is born out of frustration because you can't google his net worth. Ergo potless and unfit.

Two months into the job and he's receiving dogs abuse and even has a new name 'potless Phil' - with absolutely no substance or facts behind it.
Imagine if DH got the same abuse and walked 10 years ago ?
Let him get on with it and judge him by season end.

I think fans are more annoyed with the way he has presented himself. Saying we don't need to sell and then telling us the premier league money is all but gone and the we will replace a player for player etc. Lowe, Smith, Mooy, Zanka, Billing and possibly Mounie..... so where are these replacements? This is why the fans are on his back. If he had been honest and said the prem money is gone, we need to cut wages and rebuild for another crack at promotion the fans whilst not entirely happy would've appreciated and accepted the honesty. Instead we are seeing the club and the unity with the fans and players fall apart before our very eyes.

Fuck the amount of money he has, what concerns me is his lack of balls. Club is going through a crisis and he is nowhere to be seen. Grow a nut sack and speak to the fans about their concerns and stop hiding!!!

He came across as someone who was perhaps a bit 'over-excited' about becoming the owner of HTFC. It must be like a dream come true, just like it would for any of us. Like i said, hes a huge Town fan. But you also have to take into account that sometimes honesty isn;t an option in his position. For example, maybe he thought that the people deciding who we spend our money on have done such a lousy job over the previous 2 or 3 windows that hed rather not give them anything else to spend just now, knowing he has a DOF coming in just round the corner? Maybe he didn;t trust Sievert? After having to spaff out £8m on Mbenza this summer, maybe he thought hed rather keep whatever else was available for the next window? But he can't say that... he has to back his people right up to the point he sacks them. Thats how it works. But he did kind of say this would involve 2 o 3 windows, so maybe he was more open than hes been given credit for? Either way though, whether we like the decisions or know the full reasons behind them, the fact that DH chose him speaks volumes. DH thinks hes the best person to take the club on and thats good enough for me.

I'm not saying he hasn't made mistakes, but likewise he isn't entirely responsible for the mess we are currently in. He's inherited a club that has been in a downward spiral for some time. He is new to the role, and deserves time to turn things around. Going to be a tough job though.

Anything else that he says that doesn't come true 100% will be shot down by folk. That's assuming everybody understands and interprets what he says in the same way. Those that call him 'potless Phil' won't care what he does or says anyway. He's better off keeping quiet and getting on with appointing who he believes is the best person to dig us out of this hole.

He needs to be lucky. By that i mean he needs to appoint the right manager, and that IMO is largely down to pot luck.
If he can do that, then theres more talent in this squad than the one Wagner inherited, so the right manager is already starting off from a better place. Then who knows where it can go.
Appoint the right manager and everything sorts itself out. At the moment, theres so much cynicism amongst the support ( which is understandable after 4 wins in something like 56 games!!) that its just magnifying every problem we have.

I'm no expert on the differences between the same test for the EPL vs the EFL.
However, I can only guess that the EPL one has something on making sure you're a competent manipulator & if you want some longevity then you do as they say, including dipping your hands in your pockets to reward an outgoing Chief Exec for doing his job...
When you consider the fiscal mgmt of a lot of EPL clubs, viewed in context of the massive TV revenues, you could actually say that some of these clubs are actually far worse than many of their EFL peers, who manage to compete on what is a small fraction of an EPL club's budget.

We’ve spent no fucking money - despite a massive windfall from being relegated and the sale of some of our best players. But remember, Potless isn’t here “to be average”....... Dean gave us something to be exited about right away and came across extremely well whilst doing so. Imagine him parading up and down the touch line on his phone, in full view of the media, after a defeat. We’re currently just part of a massive ego trip. Southport fans know what he is about.

Dean also seemed to have surrounded himself by incompetent buffoons too in all fairness. A lot of this stems from the Hoyle reign. The signing of some of the players we have brought in is criminal and they were done under Hoyle's regime although the current summer signings are worse than ever.

If I was Phil.... I'd give up now. You cant change your face and unfortunately his face and personality dont seem to fit.
I think he should be given a chance, he has acted and sacked Jan.... far earlier than deano may have, He did state it's a 3 window transition and this window would be tough to swallow.
BUT, the first impressions he has given fans have not been positive. The paddy power stunt was stupid and lost the clubs hierarchy alot of respect. The promise of signings that didn't materialise, His sudden disappearance from the media etc etc.
Ultimately he will be judged on the results he gets.... most folk aren't worried about blue and white seats, stadium facilities... it's all about Saturday afternoon.
It took dean 7 years+ to find a manager... Phil is going to made or broken trying to find the special one in 7 weeks.

At the time respect went out of the window with the gutter press jumping in, but it came pouring back in when it was revealed as a quite brilliant sales gimmick. Record shirt sales followed and nothing but positives since with them as far as I can see. A club with a sense of humour, whatever next. For those that criticise the club for using a betting company take a look at the rest of the football league. I confess i'm not a betting man but it hasn't encouraged me to start either.
