It has been suggested in some quarters that Dean Hoyle is the cause of a lot of this from turning down interest from big money consortiums, to selling to his mate Phil and somehow coercing his investment out via the back door ,it looks as though the lack of transparency will keep us all guessing,
what do people mean when they give the impression of being in the know ?? I mean in regard to Dean being behind the current situation and PH just being the stalking horse and taking all the flak
It really doesn't add up and taking finance aside what would Dean the supporter be thinking right now ,being one of the cow shed boys and all that .

Well it's all nonsense isn't it. Dean still has 25% in the club, and Canalside as well as his emotional connection to Town. People making accusations and suggesting something sinister should behave themselves.

Really want to believe its all nonsense but some explanation however basic needs to come forth ,maybe it is literally finance and we spent beyond our means ,seems to clash with or plan for the future where the thought was we had a plan in place to avoid the Sunderland, Portsmouth scenario

It's an interesting question isn't it?
We all know that DH is a fan. He is however a fan with a unique insight into how the club finds itself in it's current predicament.
For very good reasons he chose to step away as major shareholder. He must have had expectations of how things would work out ? Perhaps he genuinely thought things weren't too bad and would quickly stabilise in the Championship.
The question is what might he be thinking now? I suspect he is probably positive that PH will turn it round, although I also wonder if he is now beginning to have doubts.
It's important to remember he only has 25% say now, and 25% is in the grand scheme of things pretty worthless. I suspect most fans think either consciously or not that "it's ok, Dean will step in". I don't think that is likely to happen, more likely PH sells on than that...but he could only sell 75%.
Who'd have thought we'd end up in such a mess so quickly?

It might have passed a few people by, but it's the first day of Sept, not the last day of April. Plenty of time left if we get the managerial position sorted during this break period.

Dean purportedly sold to a fellow fan to ensure the long term future of the club but this seems to have been at the expense of any ambition. Wagner said we weren't in the Premier League just to say hello but that's exactly what took place and now we look likely to pass through the Championship like a dose of salts. We should have sold to a billionaire who might not have had the long term future of the club at heart but the short term journey would have been a damn sight more exciting and the football better to watch.

I always got the impression that he felt he was more a custodian than an owner.

Still time for us to get through this and come out the other side as a top 30 club with the occasional foray into the league of fiscal insanity...

Totally get the Illness issue ,almost to a point where he probably shouldn't have made such a major decision whilst in the kind of situation he was in ,just like any other multi million pound company the board should have kept things ticking over successfully until the owner regained his faculties ,no doubt he had a major Illness but the treatment will have affected his mind ,wonder if now recuperating wonders if he made the right decision to sell when he did ,yes I think we can get out of the mess we are in and agree it is early to panic but if we sit back and don't question what is the forum for

Don't know why folk get so het up about these things. We've had darker days at the club and history tells us we'll probably come through this. Some people on here will make themselves ill if they're not careful. I imagine there's households in Huddersfield where the kids are wondering why their Mums and Dads have lost the plot...

I don't think it affects people's lives to that extent, DATM is just a small microcosm where people vent their spleen. I'm sure no cats got kicked or wives beaten in a drunken rage due to goings on down at Town.

No, I wasn't in charge of a PL football club but I still had to make sure I kept a roof over our heads, the kids fed and clothed so whereas the roof over my head wasn't the stadium but it's the same just on a smaller scale.

I get that Art. I don't know DH and I'm sure it's not all sweetness and light, but he did strike me as a community bloke and would worry about the side effects of a crumbling club, back office staff being made redundant etc. We all have our battles on a different scale. I do agree that something went awry at this point, events on & off the field going titsup at the same time.

The problems we currently face were created long before DH was ill.
He was right to step away for himself and his family .
The decisions taken don't make him a bad guy at all but they are still poor decisions.

We've dined at the top table and quite frankly the food was a little bland for my taste, give me a chicken balti pie at a shit hole like Kenilworth Road and I'm as happy as Larry, however above all I want to see competitive football from my team. A few exciting years under a sugar daddy owner would have been a blast followed by them losing interest as we fade into the sunset, however right now I feel really short changed from our time in the greedy league.

I agree with your views on the PL, I was always a bit 50:50 with what was to come because its whole ethos is one of fuck you Jack etc... So having a billionaire owner would probably take us back to that place and the next step would then be electronic flag signs or whatever it is they have at Maine Rd. We'd just become a sanitised entity. Overall I've always enjoyed the roller coaster element of HTFC, we're just on an incredibly long climb to the top at the moment, what's over the top and down the other side, who knows. Hopefully we'll find out sooner rather than later.

Our job is simple and easy..... We pay Huddersfield Town for the right to watch them. If we don't want to, we don't. I consider myself lucky, because Town have been shit in some of my time. I've had the chance to enjoy fabulous days out in places like Southport, Hartlepool, Boston and torquay..... As well as Liverpool, Chelsea, spurs and Workington. (wink) I've never felt like a nobody wherever I've watched Town. I've met better Town fans than me, I've met a lot worse Town fans than me. I love Town and always will. Who knows what's in store....... I'm gonna make sure I'm there to see, and if others don't want to be, well the easier it will be to get tickets. WAHLS

At least as we fall down the leagues the gloryhunters of the last few years will beggar off and it'll be back to seeing the same familiar faces both at home and away! Dean got out when the going got tough like Wagner did - clever on both respects leaving as heroes and leaving the club in a big mess!

There's a saying in football, you are only as good as your last game. This is very true in most aspects of life.
The fact is that for all the great things DH has done his last game is what he'll be judged by.

Listening to "that" podcast I got the impression that Dean Hoyle sees any major involvement from him into Huddersfield Town as a thing of the past - there's no way he has, or ever will have again, the motivation or interest to be actively involved in the club - and who can blame him when such a serious illness gives you a different perspective on what's important in life.
He will still be a passionate fan no doubt but his "era" is a thing of the past. Thank you Dean.
It's just unfortunate that his absence from the club occurred at the same time (probably no coincidence) that David Wagner lost interest/got frustrated/wanted to leave. The aforementioned podcast suggests that Wagner was itching to move on as soon as things got tough/we lost our identity/other clubs showed interest. This meant that for a relatively long period of time we were rudderless and passive (have you heard any Julian Winter interview?).The rot seems to have set in during the Hoyle/Wagner reign, not after. Dean Hoyle's period at Huddersfield Town brought us success we'd never dreamed of but his absence and the ineptitude apparently shown by so many at the club means that his legacy has been tarnished. We are not back to where we were before he came, but we're getting there - it's worse because we know what MIGHT have been.
Why Hoyle sold to PH, and for how much I've no idea, but with hindsight it seems (early days) the wrong decision. Selling to rich Americans or mid-eastern millionaires doesn't inevitably mean the end of things, and could well have been a new beginning.Equally I've no idea whether he's getting all or any of his investment back, or if PH has £squillions or has mortgaged the Premier league money but for whatever reason the club seems to be in a mess. We may well keep our "old" identity but it's one of a smallish club in a lower division with a passionate, small, core of supporters. That may genuinely be where we belong.
It's all such a shame that what should have been a glorious legacy for the likes of Hoyle and Wagner seems to have been tarnished and tainted. I suppose it's the usual The King is dead, Long live the King.
