They are certainly punching above their weight, lowest ranked club in the last 16, playing Super League Brighton in the next round. Good luck to them.

Good luck to them. 2nd time in 3 years they're the last remaining amateur side in the competition. Were cruising to the league title this season as well before it was suspended but have elected not to apply for promotion. Bit confused as to why as it seems like the team is playing below its true level. Maybe money's an issue?

Money is the issue unfortunately Everyone at the club wants promotion unfortunately finances aren't able to make it possible as you need 200k in the clubs bank account. Burnley have applied for promotion and got it because the mens team have backed them. They are nowhere near our women's team in the table but because they have the financial backing they can do it

Gulf in class and fitness, but no shame on the ladies at all. Would be great to see them given some financial backing to make a go of a promotion bid.

I watched the 2nd half, it was pretty much as I expected:
positives - Town never gave up, 3 or 4 looked quite tidy on the ball & even though the pitch was shit, they did try & pass it
negatives - I know they were up against a much better team but the time & space they gave them was poor. There was hardly a tackle in the half I watched &, I'm sorry, there was no point in us having a GK, she basically moved a bit from side to side on her line & watched the ball ping about the box & into the net.
I think they deserve massive credit for getting this far in the tournament yet again & I really hope they enjoyed it. Good luck to them going forward.

Massive gulf between the clubs, way way more than between the 1st & 3rd divisions in men's football (who are both full time professionals).

Commiserations to Huddersfield Town Women on an understandable cup exit to a superior higher league team in Brighton & Hove Albion.
Congratulations on being top when the League was called for the season. Ok Flyde had a game in hand but were 3 points behind and Town Ladies still top looks good.
Onwards (can’t say upwards as yous are top Ladies ! ) to next season and a full season in Covid safer (hopefully free) times God willing.

Does anyone know to what extent, if any, the ladies are supported by HTAFC? They are not supported in the slightest other than having access once a week to the 4g facility at canalside. Brighton's budget is 2.6 million a year Ours is nothing. That's the gap between the teams.

One way to build some bridges would be to support the women’s team to help their building of that side of the club. Maybe one for HTSA to raise?

Maybe one for HTSA to raise? Thanks for flagging. Improving the connection between the men's team and the women's team, and fans of the men's club and the women's club, has been one of our aims over the past few years. From our side, we've made sure we have a specific women's game officer, became a founding member of the FSA's Women's Game Network, sponsored women's team players, run crowdfunders, and put on free buses from town to Storthes Hall for the bigger games. There has been a lot of progress recently - the women's team playing their first game at the JSS, the men's club sharing info on women's games via social media and on their website, a close relationship with the Foundation, etc. - but, as you say, there's always more that can be done.

Good to see the officials at this level are as bad as some of those we see higher up. Linesman flagged for an offside that was completely wrong - the player in the offside position didn't touch the ball and the player who took the ball was clearly onside. Referee blew his whistle but if he had let play continue, there should have been a clear Huddersfield penalty. At another point, the ref played the longest advantage I've ever seen before pulling it back for the free kick.
Also not sure about their penalty - didn't look too much contact to me. And the Forest coach got increasingly frustrated with the offside flag forever going up against them.
Anyway, pleasant afternoon in the sun, and only a 10 minute drive home.
