Not really the right thread, but just wondered if Convictatthemac was going to any of the ladies' World Cup games and could give those of us interested in the women's game some local insight to how the event is going? I really hope I've remembered the right username for our Antipodean brother Yes you got the right antipode đ I doubt Iâll go to any of the matches, but that doesnât mean I wonât watch some of them on tv. I think the WC will get a bigger pump from the media when the teams start arriving down here. Unfortunately for us, weâve got a horrific injury situation where there are 10+ players out with injury, so itâs probably going to affect how we go. If Iâm around and getting into the spirit Iâll be more than happy to add some local insight into the atmosphere down here. In general, womenâs sport is pretty popular down here, especially with our national womenâs football team. Will that extend to attendances to other teams? Iâm not sure. Possibly in Melbourne where they will attend a contest between a couple of bugs đ Reminds me of hols in Thailand. A big, boisterous group of people in a crowd on the beach. Me and dad thought there was a fight (or something sexual) going on. Got to the front and the locals were betting on crab fighting, must have been 50 of them betting at least

Girls playing grass roots want to watch women's matches. Not all of them but plenty. I think it's fairly obvious that if more play, more that will want to watch. Some people will also be happier taking their young kids to women's matches and avoiding the booze/coke/testosterone of men's matches. I went with my kids and their club to watch England at Rotherham in 2018 and their were 9500ish. Fast forward 4.5 years and there is no way England will play to crowds so small. Both my girls played for years. Theyâve been to 3 womenâs games. All were international games and all were free. Neither has ever watched on tv, although I do. And I watched all our euro games. They both watch town every week home and often away Women not being interested in womenâs football is a fact. Itâs growing but mainly at kids level and once they get to 14 or 15 they stop playing. Show me any depth is the womenâs game Some women being not being interested in women's football is a fact. Some being interested is also a fact! Some giving up at 14 or 15 is a fact. Some carrying on is also a fact. You can see this from the number of u17, u18 and open age teams. Tickets are still cheaper but you're not getting free tickets for England these days. Sold out Wembley for match versus Brazil had tickets ranging from ÂŁ15-ÂŁ50 for adults and half that for kids.

(Thur) 04-5-2023 - Sheffield and Hallemshire FA County Cup Final...
Doncaster Rovers Bells 0 v Huddersfield Town Women 1 (Sanderson 68â)
Iâm a little tad late in getting this posted - what with being down in Huddersfield for The Greatest of Great Escapes Triumph and jotting back to The West Island for two hefty grass cuts to ma lawn which is the size of the pitch at The John Smithâs stadium (well almost) - and coupled with getting back to Connel for ma wee mawâs 80th birthday party and dinners celebration and then a hospital trip to Glasgow for a couple of days - However better late than never at all !
And so - Huddersfield Town Women end their season on a high by lifting the silverware in The Sheffield & Hallemshire County Cup Final curtoesay of a hard fought win over Doncaster Bells with a goal by Britt Sanderson on 68â minutes... đ
A fitting end to a very challenging season in which Town Women Lost a couple of key players to Burnley Women but still finished a creditable 6th place in their very competitive league competition and well done to all The Ladies over a tough season !
Well done also to Huddersfield Town Women Under 18âs who only lost the ONE game all season as they romped they romped their way to winning The SHWGL league and also the Cup and thus a brilliant League and Cup Double đđ - Great for The young ones and with that Iâve every confidence that The futureâs bright - The Futureâs Blue & White ! đ
So there ends ma reports of all The Huddersfield Town Women teams over the season - a thing I really enjoy doing for DATM - and look forward to doing again next season all being well - Hope all The Ladies and Girls had a huge celebration - đĽ đş - and get the boots hung up for a well earned summer rest and holiday and I look forward to seeing them back refreshed and raring to go for more silverware next season - and hopefully backed a little bit more by our new impending ownership if possible ! đ

At this time of year I like to keep a daily eye on BBC web site at the "Transfers" page. Here you can see a daily list of transfers that have taken place, listed separately as "Internatjonal", "Premier Lge", "EFL" etc. There used to be one for "Women's Football", but I note today they are being treated as equivalents.
I suppose an old boy like me will just have to put up with this nonsense, and live the rest of my life wondering just who the hell "Pernille Harder - Chelsea" is?!!

Going to be even harder this coming season, with all the top teams still here and newly promoted, just gone professional, Newcastle United added.

It's all about brand and HTAFC women provide an opportunity to build the HTAFC brand.

I'm surprised nobody has called football boot manufacturers racist and/or misogynist after that report I'm actually genuinely surprised this issue hasn't been raised before, not just in the football boot market. Because manufacturers can't mass-produce every tiny little difference in foot size and shape, it was bound to be raised sooner or later. For an EG, my mam can't wear "off-the-rack" trainers at all as she has wider than average soles and they end up either being too long or too narrow, depending on brand. The amount of variance I saw in feet "design" while working in JJB would shock most people I'd imagine.

Getting âbiggerâ in Scotland as a record crowd of 15,882 turned out at Parkhead for Celtic Women v Hearts Women in May... On the same day just short of 10,000 turned out at Ibrox for Rangers Women v Glasgow City Women... Ok this was for a day when any three of these teams bar Hearts couldâve been crowned champions and ultimately it was Glasgow City who prevailed in the end - That said if Celtic played Rangers at tiddlywinks it would probably be a bloody sell out ! đŹ

Is 50m tuning in for a final not "big"? www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/62735293365m people globally. That's even more than The Massive get at an average home game!

I suppose popular enough for fans to want to pay for season tickets Cheap and cheerful. Around ÂŁ60 will get one for prem football next season, along with around 120,000 other folk. Maybe Huddersfield could aim for some of that.
and watch it in meaningful numbers 47,367 for Arse v Spuds last season. Other crowds in the twenties of thousands. Pretty meaningful. Maybe Huddersfield could improve their numbers if they weren't out at Storths Hall.
I understand that England ladies get a crowd but I just can't see it growing any bigger than it already is It is the fastest growing sport in this country. Only challenged by women's cricket. I bet that's not for you either.Like I said I have no problem with them playing it, but I will never have any enthusiasm for it....a bit like Fartown really That's very kind of you to have "no problem with them playing it". I think they will be very grateful.

I met Dave Mallin when I went to watch Town Women v Burnley Women and he epitomises every good thing about a club like HTAFC, his daughter Kate I think is another HTAFC Women stalwart and took time to kindly sign my programme after the match and Dave did say they were always welcoming to any sponsorship and fundraising ideas... I hope that with his skills as an experienced chairman that he can engage with Kevin who has said he wants to see the Womenâs team progress and that things get better for them all under Kevin and the team and they can progress to the second tier just like where the lads team are ! đ

Why do people come on this thread just to say how crap women's football is.
Or that it will never grow big enough to be relevant.
Strange behaviour IMO

What's strange about it?? Isn't a forum about opinions?? Strange if the opinion is different to yours you mean Meaning strange commenting on something you have no interest in. Wasn't aimed specifically at you mate, there's a few posts on this thread stating the poster has no interest. So why open the thread if you've (not you, people generally) no interest? That's what I was saying, just happened yours was the latest post denigrating the women's game, apologies if it came across as personal, it wasn't meant that way at all. Re the last line, you probably think MY opinion is strange as it differs to yours, isn't that the way of the world?

There's a tiny handful of well supported clubs, but really nobody could care less. I mean - this is supposedly a prime time televised sport...that in real terms nobody is prepared to pay to go and watch... www.footballwebpages.co.uk/womens-super-league/attendances/2022-2023...full of fake clubs trying to sell their selves off the back of the names of mens football teams and grab some of that tribal following...West Ham Women play at Dagenham & Redbridges ground, Spurs Women play at Leyton Orient's ground, Aston Villa Women play at Walsall's ground, Liverpool Women play at Tranmere Rovers ground, Arsenal Women play most of their games at Borehamwood's Ground, Man Utd Women play at Leigh Leopards rugby ground.
