Why ? - what do HTFC woman add to HTFC ? - apart form a few ticks in the "equality" box ? Have you been to watch Town in the past few years? If so, you will have noticed the demographics are changing - or have changed. Young females are an increased and increasing percentage of fans. Anything that enthuses these fans, a massive part of the clubs future, is a good thing. Having a women's team as an addition to the club is a good thing and not just about ticking boxes. Maybe you should ask yourself what YOU add to HTFC. Post of the day Sapphire, well said. The women's game is a good watch; why shouldn't the club support the ladies team? Let's face it, a week's wages from Kongolo would likely keep the team going for a season.

I hope I've posted enough times on this thread that no-one thinks I'm a sexist dinosour.
...However the mens team are nowhere near break even at the moment (bearing in mind we're paying DH back).
Given that, you're basically telling PH how to spend his money (if indeed he is putting money into the club).
I know if I was in his position I'd spend more on the Womens team but I don't feel comfortable telling someone else what to do with their money.
The womens game shouldn't really be subsidised by the men's game.
Possibly the most disappointing thing about the women's team games I've been to is that the crowd was still predominantly male and probably in my ageing age group.
If womens football is going to increase its profile, it is probably down to women to drive that by attending.

Cricket, yet again, is way ahead of football in this regard.

Calm down dear.....Lasses have always watched football - since it began....and your logic of having a bunch of women playing in the lower reaches of a womens league (where if its outside the WSL then no one really gives it a 2nd thought) bring females into the HTFC is badly flawed. Define "good thing" - thats a bit vague as well. Its good to see them running around a field and attempting to play the game....big hurrah for that......but lets be realistic here its no more than a hobby at their level and a good way to meet like minded girls and make close friends . As for me adding value.....well seasons tickets since time forgot....partaking of matchday hospitality .....probably spent more on that than these lasses have ever contibuted. What I do find a bit disturbing is as you mention above "older aged men" seem to ne the mainstay of the crowd ? - Any particular reason why ?

Agreed They are all still wearing last seasons training kit too. They have Sunderland at home on Sunday and even they let them use the stadium of light last night and have access to all their training facilties. Poor from the club is that Why ? - what do HTFC woman add to HTFC ? - apart form a few ticks in the "equality" box ? They aren't asking for money from anyone Use of our training facilities and up to date training kit for them would go a long way. Every other single club in their league support their woman's teams why cant ours?

Drop PH a quick line and ask him for a couple of hundred thousand to prop them up......I am sure he will oblige

Any team that has the name Huddersfield in will have my support
I don’t know why the club don’t support the women’s team more .. the reciprocal benefits are obvious
Also I thought Kirklees owned 20% of the stadium which is for elite sport in the Town ... where are they promoting use of a public facility which ties in to the “this girl can” sports push or is it a men’s sport only ground?

What I do find a bit disturbing is as you mention above "older aged men" seem to ne the mainstay of the crowd ? - Any particular reason why ? I didn't mention older aged men, but seeing as you did. I suspect the reason is that the last time Town were successful (around 1970) those men were young lads and got hooked and stayed with the club. Although there was a small percentage of girls the culture was overwhelmingly male. Just a theory. The latest success has seen a more even spread of genders becoming fans. Let's try and keep them in any way we can. As for them not contributing as much as you, (or me) give them time. It's not their fault you were born a long time before them.

I'm sure a lot of these lasses take pride in representing HTFC at whatever level. They play and train up at Storthes Hall. The facilities (from the outside), remind me of the old Leeds Rd playing fields pavilion. It looks functional but is probably quite spartan.
We walk the Dog up in the woods there, sometimes see those lasses turning up for training, not in flash cars and probably after having finished a day job.
Pound for pound, I suspect all, if not most of them, are invested in HTFC far more than some of the overpaid shite we've seen at the JSS and Leeds Rd over the years.
Not sure what I'm debating here TBH, but if it is something as relatively minor as use of training facilities, what's the problem? By the time the Ladies would be using the facilities, the first team will be back home anyway...

What I do find a bit disturbing is as you mention above "older aged men" seem to ne the mainstay of the crowd ? - Any particular reason why ? Tim, You've taken a comment from me and attributed it to Sapphire and taken it COMPLETELY out of context and (yourself) turned it into something you find disturbing. What I said was "Possibly the most disappointing thing about the women's team games I've been to is that the crowd was still predominantly male and probably in my ageing age group.
If womens football is going to increase its profile, it is probably down to women to drive that by attending."You've somehow turned an innocent comment saying it was disappointing more women don't attend womens football into an insinuation the crowd is fulll of old men in dirty macs. Not even close to the truth as you in all probablity know but you're a WUM. The explanation for the crowd being predominantly male and older? - probably quite simply that older men are more inclined to go to sporting events. I've attended many sporting events and I'd say the comment applied to most of them (possible exceptions being more "social" events like Tennis or less traditional sports like American Football / Speedway).

Cricket, yet again, is way ahead of football in this regard. You're correct more things SHOULD be done, particularly in the area of increasing their profile and letting girls know it's OK to play football. Features about the team in the programme, adverts for their games on the big screen, using the girls to do half time draws etc. etc. They should also (as others have said) have much more access to the club's facilities and I really hope the club are at least allowing the women to take advantage of links with suppliers etc. to obtain cheaper kit. As often as possible when the club are promoting itself in the community, the girls should be included to help raise profile. I'd much rather the young girls of Huddersfield took Kate Mallin as a role model rather than somebody from Love Island.

True, hard to complain too much when you're winning. I didn't think Sheffield look like team that had lost 5 out of 6, but maybe that just highlights how competitive this league can be. Would have like to seen a bit more composure from Town in front of goal, if anything. Looking forward to the highlights coming out as I didn't get a great view of Elford's second – looked to beat the keeper at the near post, well taken shot.

Numbers are extremely limited who can access Canalside. In a normal world, yes, i agree. Not like they'll dig the 4G pitches up is it?

Glad they got a win...
