Thought Stoke pressed us really well, as poor as we were they forced us to have to keep going backwards.
In terms of quality though there wasn't really anything to split the two teams.

we did to stoke what dozens of clubs have done to us over the past few seasons...sat back, let them run out of steam and sting them in the last 10 minutes... And that tactic will fail a lot more than it will work. Would rather have a go from the off.

Harold Wilson was there; and indeed was watching in shock and horror as a Brentford player (in the pre-match warm-up) thundered a shot that whisked just over the crossbar at the Cowshed End, only to dip viciously and hit an old woman on the noggin that poleaxed her without delay. T'ol lass got up pretty quickish afterwards - as you'd expect from a gritty, old Huddersfield girl - but there were a few guffaws from the less empathetic amongst us in the Cowshed that day. Just wondering where you got the idea for your GIF. Town won 2-1 that day.

No way Town will be anywhere near the bottom come next May. We’ve 30 odd games to play. We’ve got a proper manager now. Watch us rise up the league. We absolutely will be. Which side of the dotted line remains to be seen. Don't get fucking giddy. We’ll see. Town will finish top half. We’ve goals in the team at this level and I think it’s already clear that we’ve now got a very capable manager indeed.

Didn't help that Stoke were dressed as Bully from Bullseye...

The Cowleys have got no credentials at this level, and our squad is bobbins. If we finish above 15th, we've had a good season from here.

I don’t think many of you would disagree that we were the better side on the night. Unfortunately we have two big faults. We can’t score and we can’t keep a clean sheet You’ve got a precious away win and at least kept in touch with safety I really have no idea where we go from here. Looks a certainty that Jones will be gone in the morning so we have to pray for a new manager bounce Where will we both be the next time we play ? Not being disrespectful but after watching that display tonight I’d guess we’ll both be in bottom three Off to bed now Really pissed off 😡 😡 Just don't be a stranger now mate, as I've put on another thread you're one of the opposition fans on here that's not a dick Cheers Pal. I’ll keep popping over if only to share you misery 😊

Let you into a false sense of security and and hit you with the sucker punch late in the game. You never looked like scoring and the best two chances in the game fell to us I'm sorry but Stoke are officially the worse side we've played in the last two years. Not just me who thought this then. It wasn't pleasant viewing but then we are scrapping aren't we ? The result far outweighs the performance and for me those subs were a statement of intent, stifle them then hit them with pace.Good management.

You may have seen more of the ball (52% v 48%) but for all of your attempts our keeper didn't have to make a save and I never felt under any real pressure. A lot of work needed by both teams but we stuck one in the onion bag and that's all that mattered in the end. Good luck for the rest of the season but get yourself a new manager.

I think he's right to be honest, they were better on the night but we did what we needed to win. If we hadn't got that goal, people would be suicidal on here, we didn't test their keeper at all it was an awful spectacle. Anyway we needed to win by any means and we did, we can start playing nicer football going forward hopefully.

My problem will be if we play this turgid stuff in home games, where we've been more cavalier with more shots, possession and corners etc but not had the same success (yet). Early days, I just hope the players now have some belief and play to their potential. He was raving about Bacuna after the game, saying there's a real player in there...and I agree with him.

I think they've alluded to playing different styles home and away (might have dreamt it) but they seem very good at analyzing the opposition and playing to our strengths so maybe we'll be changing approach game to game whether home or away?

I think Stoke will get a new manager and finish mid table. They have a strong squad. I think we will just miss the play-offs, finishing one place above L**ds.

Think a few need to rain check and temper expectation after their delight at a long overdue win. This squad is bang average - and compared with some not fit enough. We will have bumps and blocks in the road as we attempt to get ourselves safe, but what we do have now is unity. A management team with enthusiasm, apparent nous and no baggage has helped enormously but baby steps last night need to be continued on sat. Win then and next week at Blackburn and we will have momentum but neither will be easy. The great thing now is that the nasty vitriol and bickering is put aside for a few days at least.

I think we may have to get used to performances like that in the short term, and it makes sense with this squad. We need to keep it tight at the back and live off moments in the game. We then need players who do have some attacking ability to deliver in those moments, like Bacuna and Diakhaby did last night.
Clean sheets are absolutely vital to us, and I know Stoke were terrible but I thought the back 4 were very good last night. Nicking tight games is what will give us a chance of staying up this season.

I was a bit concerned, at how poor we looked first half. But ultimately they didn't cause that much of a problem. There best chance (I think) came from what should have been a foul on Chalobar We won though. It's an that matters and they liked so much more confident going forwards after they scored.

It's about substance not style. Once the basics are implemented and the management have their players then style can come. We need results no matter how they are earned.

Bit dramatic to say the least - I gambled with people's lives - you moved jobs mate, people do it all the time In fairness to Jones, who was animated and vocal with his team throughout and at the end went round to thank his fans - with no sign of him being abused, I read it that "gamble with lives" meant people's jobs, houses, kids moving school etc etc NOT playing Russian roulette with them, which is fair enough ?
