So yesterday I heard the interview from Phil and I was pleasantly excited for the future HOWEVER ...... Just been speaking to a former staff member who has now joined another championship academy. He says "the club is skint mate! there is absolutely no money at all. Staff have had to take massive deductions and the staff what were part time have now been made into voluntary positions. Not even expenses are covered for scouts anymore. On CC he says he spends hours on the training ground everyday and he is a really good coach but he does tend to over complicate things and the players sometimes don't know what to do with the ball and in transition periods. The signings we have made are all back up players and not very good ones at that. You will not be impressed with them at all. The recruitment team are always laughing and joking because they are always on a shoestring budget. A few more staff members are also looking at moving on. Bacuna and Mbenza have been told to stay fit during the summer holidays so they can flog them both to plug some gaps. Everyone known about Pearson and Rhodes for awhile but The worst part is they are the good ones we've signed" 🙈 I tried pushing him for some names but he said he can't, God knows why. This is what he told me Season card on hold for me at the moment. Believe it or not i don't really care I just wanted to share what ive been told this morning. Either way I'll reserve my judgment until I see the signings If the quote is accurate, sounds like someone who's just left a job he hated and is slagging it off to anyone who'll listen. Don't put too much stock in stuff like this.

Bore off. You make Art sound like a happy-clapper, and that takes some doing.

It took Phil two years to get rid of all the shite that was left from the PL-era, how long will it take for Grim and Kenny? 😂😉

It's amazing how many people on here know someone who used to work in the academy that wants to dish the dirt, isn't it?
Like some part-time staff member would be privy to the finances & inner workings at the club anyway?
None story made up by the in house WUM.
Nothing to see here but some attention seeker.

I’d guess the left back and right back are actually back up players, as such can’t be great. I hope that’s not the case with the keeper. That’s the position that will tell me how serious we are about the season.

Sounds very much like a disgruntled ex-employee (possibly an ex-player who having been released by us for not been good enough has now turned up at a League 2 club) with a chip on their shoulder.

Either way I'll reserve my judgment until I see the signings The staff pay thing is garbage. The thing about CC makes no sense. He's a really good coach but the players don't know what to do with the ball? So, is he a good coach or not?! Staff in wanting to change job shocker. Whoever leaves or thinks of leaving their job sometimes... In who's opinion are the signings poor? Ours as fans? Not sure we're the best judges anyway or wed be working in football not typing on a message board. Why would the recruitment team be laughing and joking because they're on a shoestring budget? Again, makes no sense. I'm pretty sure all players are told to keep themselves at a decent level of fitness over summer whether they're being sold or staying (more likely if they're staying). All in all a really poor effort even from you. Must try much harder.

I class people who worked for the club that had a contract, and were furloughed last year, and then made redundant in August, as contracted staff. I can assure you I am not ill informed.

OK. I've let this run on the main board, because I thought it might provoke a bit of interest, notwithstanding accusations by some of it contravening rules of being a wind up thread designed to get a reaction from members. Nevertheless, because the thread title is purporting to be regarding finance, I've this morning moved it to the Finance thread.

Either way I'll reserve my judgment until I see the signings Just come on here for the first time in a while and it didn't take me long to realise why I am not a regular anymore. This post makes Reece Dinsdale look like the oracle. I listened to the interview and Phil deserves a chance in more "normal" conditions in which a football club operates and I would say the same about Carlos. It's absolutely pointless moaning about money. 95% of the Money in football is with a handful of clubs. The rest are just trying to survive and this will dictate signings for the rest of football for many seasons to come. I was encouraged by Phil saying we could be debt free within 12 months and all loans repaid. How many clubs could say that? The OP fails to mention the loan market where we are clearly looking for PL talent (along with everyone else). Let's just see what arrives at the club and then what sort of tune Carlos can get out of them in the first 10 games. I for one can't wait to make the 400 miles round trip again, have a beer and see mates I haven't been able to meet up with. On a different note I work with a guy in Swindon whose lad has just signed for Town academy, he will be 16 in June. He says the way Town have conducted themselves has been mind blowing. He, his wife and son were treated like royalty and the presentation to the boys and parents about what to expect and what is required of them was superb. They had a fantastic day at the club. The club stressed to the boys "The football & training will be full throttle all the time and they all have to be prepared to make mistakes and learn from them" I would settle for that from Phil & our First team next season. UTT.

Obviously not all people with contracts got made redundant, otherwise you wouldn't have a team.

So essentially during a pandemic that has had a massive effect on business Town don't have the money they thought they would have, staff have had to take pay cuts, some may even have been made redundant.Sounds like they are in the same boat as most other businesses then!
