Looking back at past premier league seasons as a comparison isn’t accurate
The new TV deal changed things
Consider this, Town earned more in BOTH 2018 and 2019 than Leicester did for winning the PL in 2016
We made a huge amount of money - and the financial gulf is massively wider now between the championship and PL. To get relegated from the championship having earned £300,000,000 from the PL would be unprecedented

So we don't deserve to stay up!!!! But I guess Luton do (who lost 5.0 at home to Reading), Barnsley do (who lost 4.0 at Stoke), Hull do (who have won 1 game since Christmas) etc, etc. FFS we need to get behind the Manager and players and not "give up" like people are saying the players are. I will follow the team to the end of the season, I believe we will stay up, but if a lot of you won't get behind the Manager & Team for the last 3 games then, I guess, I cannot make you. Teams are at the bottom for a reason usually because they lose more games than they win. This squad is a lot better than Luton and Barnsley's yet we aren't seeing the same fight in the crucial part of the season. Luton won tonight because they wanted it more and had a plan not because they are better than us. Any manager worth his salt wouldn't have allowed a performance as bad as the Wigan one to occur again let alone 3 weeks later.

Charlton lost their best player (Gallagher?) to Swansea in january, plus their main striker refused to play. Hull had grosicki and Bowen soldin january plus 5 players refusing to play (including maddison).
If either of these stay up when we have signed 5 players in january and turned down £15m for grant then the Cowleys need to be questioned. For me they need to talk more positively, I am sick of hearing about 1 point in 8 games, Mount Everest, going to the wire. It's like listening to Powell.

No point in getting rid now, it wont make any difference, no-one is going to come in and change things around in 3 games. However I personally would get rid at the end of the season, along with as many players as we can offload. I have seen enough of them to know they dont have what it takes to manage a top championship team, in my opinion. This maybe isnt the best time to post as it looks like a knee jerk reaction but...
They are over 30 games in and we still dont have a consistent plan.
They have constantly played players out of position all season.
Every time we have a decent result or two and look like we might just be clicking, we seem to consolidate and play like we have done enough.
They make the same mistakes over and over again, whether its the set up, the tactics, the substitutions.
We dont learn and improve from the mistakes.
Defensively we have been shambolic all season looking like Stevie Wonder has coached them. The stat on sky regarding goals conceded from set pieces tonight was telling.
We have no idea how to attack, how to pick out a final ball, how to score from a set piece, how to move into space, how to create a chance, when to shoot, when not to shoot. We are not well drilled.
There is no style/ no identity / no ideas.
The fact the Sky pundits can pick out our issues after 45 minutes of watching us, they seemingly cant after 30 plus games.
The way we have played a league1/2 brand of football all season.
The same comments game after game about our play being too slow, yet it happens again and again. How many times before they look at the tactics they employ, which in my opinion is the cause of the slow build up play.
The amount of games this season where it has taken 70 minutes to register a shot on target.
The amount of games I have left early due to the boredom, has been like no other season.
I could go on, but stay up or go down, I cant commit my Saturday's anymore to watch this. Win lose or draw, I want excitement, I want to get up on my feet as we raid down the wings, jump up as we have plenty of chances. I will spend my saturdays on the golf course, until we provide some entertainment.

. Tonight was crap. Wigan and Forest were crap but after the last two seasons what are we really expecting? Sandwiched between those was three decentish performances with three clean sheets and something to build on. We still can’t score but the the Cowleys are the fourth manager if you inc Hudson as caretaker to struggle with this. They inherited a shit storm and in those circumstances, across the season, theyve done ok and deserve the benefit if the doubt. If they go, their replacement will be an up and coming manger from League one with something to prove (sound familiar) and we start again. The next team we play is one that, not so very long ago, we were mocking foe having the Cowleys turn them down.

They need to go at the end of the season regardless.
We've been dreadful to watch all season. I cannot remember one game that I've enjoyed watching with these two in charge.
We need a total clear out including most of the playing squad.

Chris Powell gets a lot of stick for his boring football and for driving the crowds away, but it has been even more dull than that under the Cowleys.

Playing Grant alongside Mounie and punting it down the field couldn't be any worse than the crap tactics that we've employed for much of the last two seasons. Our goals scored total has been crap for several years now, including the promotion season. Time for a change of tactic in my opinion even it means resorting to long ball until such a time that we can acquire/develop the players who can combine good football with end product.

I'm a bit torn on this one, whereas we've been utter shit at times this season I'm not sure I hold them totally responsible for the current shambles and going back to short term merry go round isn't where we should be heading. If we do go down I suspect they could probably bring us back up straight away but are they out of their depth at this level? The tactics at times are questionable but I actually quite like DC, he seems an amiable bloke and has been dealt an utter shit hand of a squad.

Definitely the potential for aftershock etc... most players signed in the premier league quite simply think they are too good to play in the championship and it goes downhill from there. That is however when a club has to have a clear plan and strategy, unfortunately we have failed on so many fronts. Let's remember we had two seasons in the premier league and as such should not be going straight through the division. Not sure our parachute payments are being used to pay too many extortionate wages... mainly those we couldn't shift as they were too shit to be sold. The parachute payments are heading somewhere else entirely. Nail on head. Basically we're the first team recently to be relegated without Parachute payments. Should we be THAT surprised we're struggling

I'm not convinced by them but I do think they should be given more time no matter what happens over the next 3 games.
I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt based on the position we were in when they arrived and that they've always been having to set up to try get a result rather than implementing a style of play and working on that and a team they'd actually like. I'm hoping once they've got the fresh slate of a new season we'll see improvements but like I said I'm not convinced.

Its just that the Cowleys have one mandate - to keep us up, and last time I looked the season isn't over. If go down, then fair enough, open the floodgates - but all this drama unsettling them now when we have 3 games to go doesn't help. perhaps folk feel, if I fill the pages of DATM with dozens of pages of bile and venom, they will see that and sort their shit out. Is that the tactic. Don't get me wrong, I am as depressed as the next man, but screaming for Cowley blood isn't going to cheer me up, and I would feel even worse if they turned round and said "Right fuck the lot of yer, we are off" What would that achieve.

A team relegated from the top league with confidence shattered a terrible start with stats after 7 games as bad as they nearly could of been. If we’d of used our parachute payments for what they are intended to be used for escaping relegation with the Cowleys would of been a good season. This club as been fucked over not by the manager and deep down most fans know why so let’s not use the Cowleys as the excuse it was written in the script by how the parachute payments were used.

I don't really get this "if we go down, keep them" business, it seems to fall out of the back of Danny repeatedly saying he's got experience of League 1 and he doesn't want to go back there, plus lots of talk of "knowing the division" etc etc. But the reality is that the Cowleys have less experience of managing a football club in League 1 than GERRY MURPHY.

They doubtless see their primary goal first and foremost as keeping the club in the division at whatever cost, then will look to build on that at the end of the season, whatever the outcome. Hopefully they'll be able to shift the deadwood and bring in their own players to better implement their game plan (Toffolo as an example, I'd hope most fans see his signing as a positive). Wagner was afforded this luxury in Summer 2016. Fine margins in football, isn't it? If Willock's final ball was a little better tonight we might have got a point or three and it'd be happy days, but instead we've got fans baying for blood!
