I don't want to come across as being negative, but as our club appears to be on the verge of yet another relegation, I'm wondering whether Dean would have the appetite and sufficient return of good health to take the helm and engineer another revival, or not?
I do like Phil, he's down to earth and as far as I am concerned he's honest and hard working and trying his best, but something is missing on his watch, perhaps he's not cut out for the "big league"? It might all be a bad blip and all will be OK at the end of this season and once we clear out some of the dross of our team?
It's just a question, no disrespect intended, but could our club rise again if Dean returned? If he did, what are the chances of him foregoing repayment of his £50 million and re-investing it in the club?
If we drop, could the club even survive without his £50 million, and what happens to the parachute payments if we drop? He still has a 20% share and aparently the right to increase it, but I have no idea of these details.
Perhaps it's too early to ask this question, and feel free to flame me if you wish, but I'm just asking an open question, and I don't have any fixed view either way.

he's still a shareholder. Indeed, that's why I wrote "He still has a 20% share".
The key question is, would he take the main role again, and if so, inject his £50 million again?

I think its a very fair question and on seeing Dean speak and reading what seemed like heartfelt accounts of his time as a Town fan you would think he may well come back ,nobody knows but one or two on here seem to be mates with Dean and have intimated he had had enough and wouldnt be returning in a controlling role ,as you say he currently has 25% stake and would probably be keen for that investment not to diminish
My only issue is I feel that Dean as responsible as he was for our foray into the premier league he is also responsible for our decline through bad management and his demand for monies returned at such a rate the club was always going to be hamstrung .
Time will tell but i think some people are wishful thinking .

Town's apparent misuse of the parachute payments could add to the growing clamour for them to be abolished.

Several thousand threads of abuse of the man...followed by one asking him to come back.
God bless DATM

I don't think it would be a good idea at all. I certainly wouldn't be too keen to have him back.

UTT P.S. a fan since 1970 Loved Dean's involvement with Town, he was our 'White Knight.' It's all gone a very sour, since then.' Let's hope we find some form & goals, we need to move on! The mismanagement of the last 2 years is clear, mainly down to Dean! Big Phil inherited a car crash! Not a viable football team! - UTT.

If he felt the need to get out, why would he want to take the helm again? He was great for us. Gave us the time of our lives but he’s tainted his legacy by wanting his money back in a timescale that financially ties our hands for the foreseeable. I love ya Dean. Thank you for the memories but It’s a no for me.

Please come back Dean, and ask David Wagner too. No thanks. The man who's just set a club record of 16 games without a win at Schalke?

I think if we were in a real real mess e.g like Wigan heading into administration, then he would as that’s the argument for him to be 20% shareholder to ensure the ship doesn’t fully sink and still has some control over it.
However, it’s pretty evident that his illness caused a real shock to the family and put things into perspective for them. There’s more to life than business and football and I think his wife and close family will have been in his ear suggesting he needs to get out and put his feet up for a bit.
Running businesses is a high pressured environment and it no doubt can take its toll. Therefore, his day has been and although he will not be enjoying the current town situation (cue parachute payment comments), he’s put the ownership under somebody else now so he can put more focus into his family life and enjoying retirement more.

Would wagner come back? Would anyone want him back? 100% yes. With him and the fans back together, unity would return.

I honestly think that was part of his plan. “Give” the club to PH with the aim to sell in 3 years to someone whilst getting his money back in the meantime. Then if no one buys it he comes back.

Town's apparent misuse of the parachute payments could add to the growing clamour for them to be abolished. If anything we're the only ones who have used them properly. We've subsidised wages and repaid debt with them and the former was certainly the intention when they were brought in.

You get the money when the club actually has it.. or you drag it out over much longer when the club doesn't. If the timescale was 10 years, hed have ended up being paid our entire SC income for 6 or 7 years in a row...now that really would be tying our hands financially! As for him coming back in.. absolutely no chance i would have thought, especially if he reads DATM.

Anyway, life's too short to beggar around on a golf course or a beach, much more interesting to be in the cut and thrust of owning Town. I certainly would if I had the money to do so.

Would wagner come back? Would anyone want him back? 100% yes. With him and the fans back together, unity would return. No it wouldn't, it would be a ridiculous appointment. He was awful in his last season and he's mirrored that with his season at Schalke, I'll be forever grateful for what he did in getting us promoted but the rot set in when he was here and his football at Schalke is just as bad as Cowley's is here. Town fans find it very difficult to move on, I remember when Stan Ternent was the manager and people were singing for Peter Jackson to return. He'd been gone 18 months and wasn't even the previous manager! Getting Wagner in would be a massive backward step and just a pathetic attempt at trying to recapture the past. Going back very rarely works in football.

Extremely unlikely. It's possible. It would be nice. Probably gonna happen. Deffo, I can't wait! David Wagner's blue and white army!!!!
