There are better coaches and worse ones.
Glenn Hoddle would have this lot of players challenging for a play off place at least

4-1-4-1 system. How does Hogg fit into that? The one in front of the back four I don't think Hogg has the forward vision for that, he would just keep passing it back to the centre backs. You need someone who can either take the ball forward, or pick out a forward pass. Mooy used to play in a similar role under Wagner

Fucking neither. If its Corberan thats it for me, I will also be taking the cheap option next season, just like Phil is doing, and listening to the games on the radio when im not playing golf. I dont know why I expected anything different, when you look at some of the cheap shite we have signed from league 2 and the conference. An U23 coach to sort this mess out, I would laugh if I wasnt so gutted. drama queen wit no knowledge of the man typical of many on here stay away the club will be better of without you

Looks like we'll be swapping places, I wouldn't have bought a ticket for next season to watch the shite the 2 Rons served up but now I'll be getting one Poor form mate. 😂I got my season ticket for next year 3 months ago despite the fact that I can usually only make 9 or 10 games a season at home even in the pre-COVID era.

But we can get some idea from looking at their Lincoln team with Corberan we have nothing to go off. This season was about staying up and I never expected it to be pretty. Plus dealing with a terribly unbalanced squad, first club to stay up with only 1 point after 9 games. The Siewert experience is just making me very uneasy and I hope I'm wrong. Stoke were below us so they must've done better 😉 We are, I believe the first team to stay up in this division after having only one point from eight games. If you check back, Stoke had 2 points at that time. Incidentally, Brentford were 17th at the time and I tipped them for the top 6.

The game has moved on and I don’t think the Cowleys dod enough to convince Phil they could make the step up from lower leagues. Wait and watch for the leeds reaction. We’ve not signed a nobody here- we’ve signed one of the most respected and well thought of no.2’s In European football. A guy rated by Pep & Klopp. I’m really exicited about seeing a new footballing culture which the players can all buy into. Young/ up and coming European players are much more affordable than their British counterparts so again this is a smart choice from Phil.

I agree with you it’s very exciting but as big daddy pointed out in his excellent article it the short term at least his task may be to rehabilitate some if not all of our exiled players and that might prove a tall order.

Watching those two videos is enough to get me a little bit excited. The sheer fact that it would be virtually impossible to make one on a Cowley team says it all.
Immediately you can see that Hogg isn’t going to play and that we need a new central midfield playmaker. The sheer fact that we might play with pace is exciting enough on its own.
10 months ago I thought the Cowley’s would be the answer and heard first hand how good they were at coaching and man-management. But that was in the lower leagues and sadly - even with a reasonably generous transfer window (including the addition of two Premier League winners and one of the most exciting young players in the league) they haven’t shown me enough to get excited about for next season. I am absolutely gobsmacked we have 51 points - as I can barely remember us winning more than half a dozen games
Hindsight is wonderful, but that performance against Luton was enough to be sacked for and tbh they should have resigned in embarrassment.

Something happened after the Luton home game which was not long after the debacle against Wigan. I have to admit that I gave up on renewing my season ticket after the Luton match but changed my mind when we beat WBA. Fickle ... you bet! Although I always seem to come sliding back somehow. Now that the Cowleys have gone I am actually beginning to warm to the possibility of the appointment of a coach who might actually be able to inject some new ideas into the squad. For me there were some real problems with the team which was a hangover from the Prem. First of all the confidence was zero and needed to be remedied. I really thought the Cowleys would change this but they didn't. Second the playing style seemed to remain very similar to what we had seen in the second half of our stay in the Premiership when we were ritually passing the ball backwards, sidewards and backwards again in the hope of avoiding giving the ball to the opposition. Fear and to an extent confidence was playing its part but we should never have been scared of having a go against either Wigan or Luton. The latter were bottom of the table and you are there for a reason. Finally what the Cowleys seemed unable to do was to convince me that the players were enjoying themselves on the pitch. This is easier to understand if you are not being picked every game say like a Steve Mounie, who for me whatever might say, is still a pretty decent centre forward who can make things happen if he is given the ball.
To an extent the situation with Alex Pritchard says it all with the way things have gone for Town since he first signed. He came in against Bournemouth at home and instantly made an impact setting up Mounie for a goal. He had a good game that season down at WBA too although Wagner using him as the patsy all to often in games did not seem to do much for his confidence. This continued under Siewert and the Cowleys taking into consideration his injury problems too. Town have never got the best out of him, in my opinion and until we find someone who can he is going to remain an overpriced asset we cannot offload.
There is another factor too which may or may not be playing on our Chairman's mind: the speed twins Diakhaby and Mbenza. They are coming back in a matter of weeks and are a real headache for the club unless ... a coach can get something out of them. Maybe the guy from Leeds can. Who knows. I know the Cowleys couldn't despite Diakhaby at least showing some signs of promise against Hull at home this season. It is a long shot I know but if the new man can lance that boil then they will have earned their corn alone.

It is a long shot I know but if the new man can lance that boil then they will have earned their corn alone. The more general problem has been a failure to recognise who are the most skillful players and to organise the team around them. Against WBA the 4 players involved in the 2 goals were arguably the most talented footballers: Bacuna, Willock, O'Brien and Smith-Rowe. There have not been many games where all 4 started.

I keep reading about the Wigan and Luton games. The implication is that these were ‘easy’ games. Have you checked out the form tables? Name the teams who have a better record over recent games. It isn’t easy to find many. Those were our toughest games since lockdown and we played reasonably well against Forest, Reading, Birmingham and WBA. Too many on this forum seem to under-estimate just how difficult it is to stop a team in free fall from plunging further downwards. It was a Herculean effort to eke our points this season- I never dreamt when I was watching us last August that we would get to 30 points, never mind 50.

Ah, teamplayer. In the words of DTS “what first attracted you to the Town forum....yesterday”. Let's just say curiosity about the relationship between football managers and club owners and footballers and money and the fans who have to fathom out what it all means considering that the fans are often overlooked and the truth is often elusive. The current baffling situation is no exception and was just too much for me to contain my curiosity. You did ask.
