Im Getting emotional while Im looking at all these pictures and videos. I would like to thank every people who works at the club. You gave me a warm welcome from day 1 until the end so thank you very much.
🚨 Special mention for the FANS I can’t thank you enough for all this years, you have been nothing but amazing towards me. I seriously got tears knowing that I’m leaving you and that I won’t hear my song at the John Smith stadium again...😢 This is a heartbreak but that’s the life of a footballer and I hope you will keep following me through my next adventures. Keep supporting the team as you do, There is some young lads coming up, help them to shine ✨ Now I’m joining your side as a huddersfield town fan 🥳 Take care and be sure that I will always remember you 💙🤍 #htafc #huddersfieldtownforever

Anyone at Selhurst Park August 2017, either physically or in spirit, will always remember Steve Mounie.

Thanks for the memories big Steve!! I was at Selhurst Park for your debut and you helped create one of my greatest ever Town memories. I was so unbelievably proud of the team travelling back on the train to London in my Town shirt in a carriage mainly full of Palace fans (who were full of praise for the team's performance that day)!

Never the physical presence we needed. Scoring from the perfect ball in whilst not being marked isn't enough in the long run at either PL or Championship level. Wish him all the best but it's clear it's better all round if he moves on. Essential we replace with better asap.

Good player and huge part of that wonderful 17/18 season
Didn't sulk when left out at the start of the last season, was professional throughout and ultimately scored some crucial goals to help keep us up (Blackburn especially)
Good luck Steve, you leave very much with your head held high and thank you for the memories

He was the wrong striker for us. That's not saying I don't rate him, just that we never got to play to his strengths so he offered us very little.
Good luck Steve.

Thanks big Steve!
When he smashed in his 2nd at CP on the opening day it gave unbelievable belief to the club. While he may have copped criticism for not chasing lost causes, I still remember him chasing v Chelsea, was doing a great job of closing down the ball, almost forced a turnover only for the Chelsea player to get a sloppy pass away. When Steve looked over you could tell he thought the press was going to work only to find the sloppy pass had no Town player closing it down. When he looked over his shoulder, there was no Town player in the same half and Hudson was giving Steve a bollocking for not being back in formation. Don’t think he pressed much after that, couldn’t really blame him after putting in a great effort only to cop a bollocking.
Loved his curler from 25 yards last season, hit it so sweet! Thanks for that cracking first PL season and thanks for being a great guy. I wish you all the best and will always keep an eye out to see how you are playing.
Ole, ole, ole. 🙏

Comes across as a nice bloke and genuine etc. We didnt play tk his strengths enough, we probably didn't manage him well (clearly a confidence player) and also he probably wasnt quite good enough for what we needed. Seeing the guy start 10ft tall at Palace to becoming a player with jelly legs at Anfield that night was sad. Always looked to be trying but equally infuriating not gettjng anywhere near the 6 yard box at times. Cant be deemed a success unfortunately but leaves with respect unlike many others. Good luck to him.

sadly we didn't get the best out of Mounie because our playing style in PL was focused on possession and defence much of the time. Occasional glimpses of what he can do but alas now he's on his way. I wish him well, and we , as a club, move on...

I’m sad but grateful that Mounié proved that not all footballers have a mercenary attitude. I think the fact that his song was sung the loudest of any I can remember previously, sums up that most understood his respect for the club and it’s supporters. Hoping he gets all he deserves in the future.

Shame to see him go, I will remember the first season in the Premier League, and without his goals, we would have only managed 1 season in the top flight, some of them absolutely crucial. In the 2 seasons after, we might as well have not bothered playing with a striker, as our attacking was almost non existent, and he didnt really have a chance with the service provided to him. I think if he had played in the Leeds, West Brom or Brentford teams last year, I genuinely think he would have helped himself to plenty of goals.
Add that to the fact he wasnt one of the big earners that threw their toys out of the pram, and not one of the ones stuck in the u23's or loaned out because he wasnt giving 100%. I think he will thrive back in France.

The heart-felt comments made by SM today convey his love for the club and appreciation for the fans. They say far more than those of most departees (and a likely future departee).
I really thought Town were entering the promised land when I watched the victory at Selhurst Park. I was deluding myself, but it was enjoyable for a while. SM never really had the athletic ability now needed in the Premier League, but it wasn't for want of trying.

But that Brentford team would have been far worse off for having an immobile striker instead of Watkins who drags defenders all over while also being good at holding it up and banging in loads of goals

Always maintained Mounie would have scored more in a better team and with better players around him, double figures in our first season in the prem is no mean feat but the premier league soon sorts out the weak teams, and thats what we were in the end, i liked Mounie and wish him all the best.
