Comment from an Ajax fan: Eiting is basically a football social experiment. What happens if you put the mind and tactical IQ of Xavi in the body of a chess player So he's good at playing board games in a football kit?

Hey, ajaxfan here. Carel Eiting once was one of the bigger talents of the club. After a knee injury he hadn't been able to play for 16 months. He is a ball passing player with a good first touch, good at one touch play and has a great ballhandling. His best treat is his vision. One of the issues he has is that he lacks speed and strength, which makes it difficult to put him in the 6 position at Ajax. Fun fact: A cycling team (Jumbo Visma) did a quarantine race against the pro's, where you can basically do some sort of time trial against the pro's on your hometrainer. Carel Eiting ended winning the challenge with better scores then the cycling pro's. nos.nl/collectie/13840/artikel/2330884-ajacied-eiting-troeft-wielrenners-jumbo-af-van-harte-welkom-bij-onze-ploegBesides all this, he is a great kid and is pretty smart as well. They call him the professor at ajax. Well that's that, good luck this season He can’t be that clever if he’s signed for us.

I would love to know what we said to convince him to sign. He had heard good things from all the other Ajax players we have signed.

I see that many reference Eiting as “The Professor”.

I see that many reference Eiting as “The Professor”. Paraphrasing Frank Skinner, that's because hes got 2 GCSEs.

So he's good at playing board games in a football kit? Should get on well with Josh then! Seems to lack athleticism, pace and just back from a very serious injury. I guess that's why he hasn't had any better offers. A minimum of three other quality signings needed. Some grown ups wouldn't go a miss either. Sent from my SM-A515F using proboards

Big gamble this and seems a typical Big Phil signing. Lightweight and back from a long term injury, nobody knows how he’ll do. However, the powers that be get to strut around saying they’ve brought a former starlet from the Ajax academy to Town, rather than what we probably need - a seasoned Championship level midfielder ready to put his body on the line in our up and coming relegation fight.
I hope he proves to be a great signing but it feels like we’re signing Lee Makel when we need Darren Bullock.

Hogg is our bullock and I’d say he’s part of the problem in this system. L O’B, Eiting, Bacuna as starters for me.

We desperately need quality & we need to move the ball forward quicker. This lad must be excellent technically if he was one of Ajax's brightest talents at one point, there's no doubt the physicality of the Championship is a huge concern but I believe this is a positive signing.

He will definitely not lack athleticism

He may prove to be a disappointment, any signing can end up being. This on paper seems a real coup and one signing that we should be excited about - who do you really expect to sign, that’s exciting, within our price range and not going to have better offers?

They seemed to be implying he didn't have the required physical attributes. Hopefully we'll get to make our own minds up soon. Sent from my SM-A515F using proboards

I’m not complaining about the signing at all, just that he may not be what we need. There seems to be quite a discord between where the board thinks the squad is and where the fans see the squad being. From watching us so far I think we’re in desperate need of a couple of absolute bastards on the pitch. If we are reliant on academy lads I’d like to give them some protection by having a couple of old heads amongst them who are wise to the shenanigans of the professional game and willing to do the dirty side of the beautiful game. We’ve been a soft touch for too long. Whether it was Arter playing Hogg for a mug or just general naivety we’ve been very poor at the dark arts. We need to find some nous from somewhere. That said, I really hope this lad turns out to be superb.

Getting a niggly fucker for gamesmanship is fairly low on our priorities I’d imagine. That said I hope there’s plenty more to come because this lad alone will not save us.

Completely agree, we really don’t need ‘niggly bastards’ we need good technical players. We basically stayed up last year through moaning, griping, feigning injury and complaining to the third referee. I’ve no idea some times what some of you are watching.

He could be the missing part of the jigsaw ( well the main one ) that weve missed since Mooy left. A midfielder who can actually turn the possession we generally have lots of into goal chances, with that bit of quality in the final third. By the sounds of it hes not the most physical of players, but recently neither was Smith Rowe ( anything but! ) yet he shone out for us last season. If hes in the middle with Hogg and O Brien then we can probably afford a player who isnt going to get stuck in.
