I agree hudders. A bit hard to warm to as a character and it feels he went a bit awol after Lockdown. But a top goalscorer at our level. Good luck to the lad and the club have done a good deal also imo.. Win win

Another player we'll quickly forget about. Never really warmed to him neither him to us by his persona £££££££££. He’ll score 15+ for WBA this season and then he’ll be grabbed by one of the London teams. Funniest post this transfer window, thank you.

Thanks Karlan for all of the goals, in the past 18 months, quite an achievement considering how poor we've been during your time with Town! Good luck with WBA, hope you continue to score goals for them! Leading to a massive move to ?? with a massive payoff to Town. All the best Karlan, the performance at West Ham was special, the goal at Wigan was top class & finally really enjoyed your goals & performance last season v Charlton. All the best - UTT. The Wigan goal was a great strike but poor defending to even at any point think he was going anywhere other than his right foot. As the season went on defenders knew that was all he had in his locker and he would end up running all the way across the box trying to work an opening but couldnt because defenders knew he was never coming back on to his left

Thank fuck that's finally over although I'm not sure what I will do with the extra hour I will have available each day now I don't need to check if the transfer has taken place. Hopefully we can move Kongolo on and move forward.

Like others, I never could warm to him for some reason, however, best of luck to the lad, he managed to score plenty of goals for us in one of the most defensive teams we've ever had. Plus bought for a relative pittance & sold for big profit....what's not to like? He proved to be a great signing for us.

Thanks for all your goals Karlan. The lad has come and done what he set out to achieve, Town gets good money for him, there’s no issues from me. I hope he goes onto a great career and tops up our coffers. He’s been underrated by some on here, but that’s life, personally I rate the lad, would rather he was in our team and not in the opposition. The only regret I have is I won’t be seeing him play in the blue and white under a capable manager (1 trial match aside with CC).

Interesting how two guys who cost us less than 2m and and netted over 30 between them are held in such low regard at the JSS. Meanwhile people are still eulogising over Gary Roberts and Peter Clarke Funny old game. Peter Clarke is a god amongst mortals. A leader of men. A colossus. A gent. A good bloke. He's welcome to visit his shrine at my garden bar area anytime Gary Roberts was ok too. As was Karlan Grant, and he's helped to keep the club afloat a bit longer. And yet the highlights of the Baldmuff play off game the other day showed Clarkey for what he was, last ditch dive in to give away a pen, last ditch dive in to miss ball and man and they score then completely misjudge a cross leaving Ings a free header in the 6 yard box

Helluva hit though

I would take a younger fitter Gary Roberts and a Peter Clarke any day than some of the nonentities that we have playing for us at the moment So who out of our defence would you replace with Clarke? Had passion, I’ll give him that, but not a very good footballer. League One definitely his level, and often got found out at that level against half decent opposition!

I trust that we have a decent sell on fee because the kid could be worth an absolute fortune if he nets a few more top flight goals & is sat on a six year contract! A shabby departure but all best to him. Now get him & his goals replaced sharpish.

Scored some good goals. Last time I saw him live was when he didn't track back to mark Luke Ayling after 4 minutes. Good luck to him.

So in total we've paid around £4.5m for Grant (including sell-on) & sold him on for around £15m after 18 months. Good business imo.

Some Town fans are ridiculous. 'A lot of his goals were penalties' - like we were wishing he'd miss them instead. A goal is a goal. Alan Shearer and Wayne Rooney scored plenty of penalties but are the top 2 goal scorers in the PL. 'He always cut it from the left and shot to score' - but the ball was still going in the goal so whats the problem?
Basically, we took a cheap punt on a 21 year old from 2 divisions below (where we were), he was top scorer in 2 seasons despite only being here 1.5 seasons and now we've turned a huge profit on him. Why has there been a need too talk him down? Cos he wanted to move to the PL? I don't care. He's scored goals and made us a decent sum of money.
'It'll be going straight in Dean Hoyle's pocket though'. So what? If that is the case, it will be instead of other money going to DH.

Its as though every player that signs for Town should pledge their 100% allegiance to the club for life and if they dare to have any ambition to better themselves, then they should be hung drawn & quartered. Despite his limitations, Grant has done fantastically well for this club and without his goals last season we'd be playing League 1 football this season. I for one wish him well and thank him for the memories.

I wish Karlan all the best. Scored lots of goals for us in a poor team. Without him wed be in League 1 now Sick of this phrase being bandied about. Did nobody else in the team score any goals? Did Grant score in the vital 2-1 win against WBA? Did he even play? Did Grant score in the 2-0 victory over QPR? Or the 2-1 win over Blackburn? Did Grant score in the 1-1 draw at Derby? Yes, I know that he scored lots of goals but this phrase "without his goals..." doesn't add up. Other players contributed in the scoring stakes. And even the defenders and goalkeeper(s) did their bit to keep out possible goals and keeping some scores down where we scraped points here and there. All the best KG - you did ok for us. See you next season.

See you next season. Put it this way. Without his goals we failed to beat Rotherham despite us having 73% possession and 11 shots of which only one was on target. I'd have been pretty confident of Grant netting at least one of those chances and adding to our miserly number of goals so far this season. There are ten other players contributing but it counts for very little if you can't stick it in the net.

He lost the ball an awful lot through poor control or bad decision making

Or to put it another way, we got 19 points in games where he didn't score or assist. Without him we would be in league 1 right now. No one else was doing it.

Would we have missed all the penalties if somebody else had taken them?
