Walton-on-the-Hill Terrier If the pitch won't be ready for a while, any chance of Sutton playing home games at an alternative venue? Plough Lane, Kingsmeadow, Loftus Road, etc? The vice-chairman has just given the latest of his regular excellent updates and explained the situation. To answer your question it won’t be necessary as the EFL, Salford City and Hartlepool United were all very understanding of the situation and happy to help out. The Salford fixtures are just reversed and the Hartlepool game is delayed a month. As far as the pitch was concerned it was basically down to the vagaries of the English summer and it has been very wet in recent weeks. However, it’s clear that really Sutton will be grateful for the extra time now before the first home game because the new turnstiles won’t all be installed until sometime next week and they can’t send out ST’s until the new WiFi system is fully installed and tied into the new turnstiles setup for counting and security purposes, as you have to enter the main stand seating from the terrace rather than through a separate gate from outside. Also, the new permanent away stand won’t be ready until October so they’re having to install a little temporary stand for about 130 and that won’t be delivered until next week either. Have a listen to the vice-chairman’s update (Adrian Barry) on the official site if you’re interested.

Hope its not a case of 'Fail to prepare, prepare to fail' for Sutton, first crack at the league so not a great start. No, I don’t think Sutton United can be accused of failing to prepare. There’s a massive amount of work going on at the ground, as well as them having to lay a new hybrid grass pitch. They’ve got a continual camera feed from in front of the main stand so you can see some of the work being done. The new floodlights went up last week and a small new seated stand is being built for away fans. They’ve also removed a tiny terrace called “the shoebox” as well. There have been lots of days recently where it seems no work was being done on the pitch which must have been because it was too wet. I think it’s a steep learning curve for them behind the scenes but they’re a very stable and well run club that still relies heavily on volunteers. Being honest, the ground isn’t really up to league standard. I think they’ll find it tough, but the club won’t complain and won’t give in. Awesome name for a terrace or stand that is Epsom ! Obviously the most famous one for us here is The one and only COWSHED... There were a few classics in Scotland. Dumbarton had ‘The Postage Stamp’... Clachnacuddin had ‘The Wine Shed’... Celtic had ‘The Jungle’ prior to that ‘The Hay Loft’... Morton had ‘The Wee Dublin’... Aberdeen had ‘The Beachy’... Hearts had ‘The School’... St. Mirren had ‘The North Bank’... Dundee had ‘The Derry’... All cracking pseudonyms that reflected the charisma and charismatic status of old grounds.. sadly no more as such and replaced with, I guess, sponsors names. Anyway Epsom, Good luck in the new season to Sutton United except of course should they draw Huddersfield Town in any of the cups !

Not seen many updates on the Ground Guide forum recently, so that helps, thanks!

I wonder whether there was ever any actual serious intention to introduce them? It will have persuaded a lot of teens and early 20s to get jabbed who otherwise might not have bothered but the effects of threatening it have probably run their course by now. Can you imagine the queues outside the turnstiles at Town games as thousands of middle aged blokes faff about on their phones trying to find their proof of vaccine?! Queues back to Mirfield!

It's available to run again when they need it.

For the likes of us who did not want the jab this is really great news , I intend to pop over to Town and now get my season ticket, Its been unfortunate that I could not get one earlier, but accept that this was my choice in not having the jab. It seems common sense has prevailed, though I don't trust the Tories, they would not U turn , would they!
Its a shame that Scotland have brought in these passports as I was planning to travel up to Edinburgh to watch Hearts in November , sadly I have had to cancel this little expedition and the hotel reservation.

Up here they'll just get the "Minister for U turns", Jim Swinney, to say that, after they weren't going to bring them in they decided it was now hest to bring them in, but now the data says we don't really need them after all😁

Yes, there has been a lot of contracts signed to develop the apps since last November. Thing is as it is now being shown that the vaccines aren't preventing transmission as well as they hoped. The vaccine passports will now cause more problems than the benefits they bring. At the Euro's half the chaos was down to people not being able to download the code on their app, due to the mobile networks being overloaded.

Think everyone forgets that testing is the new cash cow, not jabbing. Always enough elderly and sick to jab time after time, they want the jabs and as many and often as they are told they need . Its the tests and starting to charge for the tests that covers the majority of the country. A test within a certain amount of time before the event or entry to something is the best way of recouping the cash. Clearly if a test isn't done as you enter an event its pretty worthless but don't think that will stop them requiring one, for your own good and the good of others, don't forget the mantra...!!!!! The common good.. The common good... Keep chanting it.. its like a Khymer Rouge induction course..

Sturgeon's in a right pickle now. Boris pulled the rug from under her feet. Expect the passports to be dropped quietly when some other news takes centre stage. Also the mechanics of introducing them is not up and running or even tested yet up here.

Give it 4 or 5 weeks, it will do an about turn. Testing at the point of entry is the money way forward. Once they push, force or just pretend they have a very quick test. Still won't show if you are infectious but it will pick up a trace infection in enough folk to make it look like it is 'working'.

I hope your right about the passports being shelved in Scotland, It seems I may have been a little hasty in cancelling my reservation for my hotel, I will keep tabs on how the passport situation is going in Scotland and possibly go up to Edinburgh after Christmas sometime , if all is well. The cheaper B&Bs in Edinburgh seem to book up very quickly so you have to book well in advance , unless of course you can afford one of these posh hotels which charge about £170 a night , then to rub salt into the wounds , you don't even get a breakfast!
