I’ll answer my own question from yesterday then. Only 2.5 months til the January window opens on January 4. Happy days 😉 Which means 3.5 months until more disappointment 🙄 I’m prepping myself from now, there will be no signings in January...

This new sub board in many ways perfectly represents the clusterf.ck of deadline day.

Make no mistake. If this dude from Newcastle is the only incoming transfer it is a fucking horrendous transfer window incoming wise. I had faith he would back CC...he is a shocking chairman With the deal for the "dude from Newcastle" off, what is worse than fucking horrendous? Super fucking horrendous?

Nugent and Teddy Sheringham Teddy would be a huge improvement over what we have. Ted Nugent?

What a crushing day, CC will have to coach the beejezus out of this team. 2-3 good players short and now hostage to the mercenary market, futures bright! The young ones must be fist pumping in private because they will get plenty of chances to play.

As a fan i feel the club are letting is down massively, taking us for granted. I do believe that PH is looking after the club long term die to Covid and club survival is key. But you need to show some form of ambition. 1, yes 1, loan of a striker isn't going to kill the club. I feel the board have left the fans behind, especially during these times when we can't even watch. The community club status should be dropped. I understand the grief I was sure we had people lined up but for what ever reason it didn’t happen I loan striker would not stop a shit storm An old maxim if there’s nowt good to say say nowt I can’t believe CC would sign on without some assurance s about the squad I can only hope there is a plan I am concerned

Apparently we were in for David nugent after the arrons deal had collapsed but couldn't get it done in time. Shell shocked at that one.
Absolutely piss poor from the club

Am not having that.

Unless the paperwork was rejected at 4.59 and the club had a 60 second nugent challenge 😁

If the deal had been teed up to the point that Aarons was sitting in Town owned accommodation, then surely everything had been negotiated and it was a matter of submitting paperwork at the appropriate time? That is of course, unless one of the three parties involved, Town, Newcastle or Arrons changed their terms last minute? If that happened then the party that changed got what they deserved.

To be fair, I would imagine nugent and Aaron’s would be pretty far down the list marked “decent signings”. It probably took that long to find out we couldn’t afford all the thousands rated higher

Does my head in. Everything should be sorted in advance unless a season changing deal can be done (e.g. Mooy or ESR that depends on other things) Aarons who’s been here all week shouldn’t be left until 458!

I wonder if it was dependent on kongolo signing for Fulham? That was probably one of the last confirmed. Maybe everything had been submitted for Aaron’s but without TKs wage off the books Town wouldn’t finalise Aaron’s?

Perhaps Phil had a good think about it, and came to the conclusion that Aaron’s wasn’t all that so he literally pulled the plug (of the fax machine).

You shouldn’t be writing up new paperwork at 4.50pm and bombing on your fax machine at 4.58pm because that’s when people make mistakes. Personally not bothered that we didn’t sign him. I’m wondering if the fact that Cauley Woodrow signed a new contract on deadline day meant we missed a target?

But really it shouldn’t be... we’ve got rid of Mounié, Grant and Kongolo... that’s transfer fees and wages freed up We are not talking about going out and spending £10m on a player - but 2-3 to improve the squad should have been doable - and from Maynard’s post I’m sure they were targeting 3 - despite what happened
