I wonder if it was dependent on kongolo signing for Fulham? That was probably one of the last confirmed. Maybe everything had been submitted for Aaron’s but without TKs wage off the books Town wouldn’t finalise Aaron’s? Makes sense. I thought that but if we’re saying 2 other signings fell through, their wages must have been budgeted for so it doesn’t make sense. Unless there was a transfer fee that needed covering.

I suppose it depends on how much PH wanted the wage bill reducing by. If Kongolo hadn't ended up going to Fulham, we'd still have his wages, plus Aaron's wages to pay. Thing is we don't know what our budget is, but we need to be as sustainable as possible, imo.

Just seems like they've ballsed up the negotiations and probably aren't prepared to pay the going rate. Let's face it they can't even negotiate a shirt sponsor and are prepared to go without because they're so pig headed and unrealistic about the market. I'm yet to see this huge reduction in clubs paying fees, massive wage cuts and hundreds of players without clubs. Club is running around telling everyone the sky is falling down whilst others are doing deals to ensure they aren't relegated. Sent from my SM-A515F using proboards

It doesn’t sit right for me. If the deal had been teed up to the point that Aarons was sitting in Town owned accommodation, then surely everything had been negotiated and it was a matter of submitting paperwork at the appropriate time? That is of course, unless one of the three parties involved, Town, Newcastle or Arrons changed their terms last minute? If that happened then the party that changed got what they deserved. I wonder if it was dependent on kongolo signing for Fulham? That was probably one of the last confirmed. Maybe everything had been submitted for Aaron’s but without TKs wage off the books Town wouldn’t finalise Aaron’s? I wouldn't be surprised if we were holding out for Newcastle to settle up his contract but they continued to demand some sort of payment... I was quite open minded about this as a potential low-cost/risk signing, but not overly concerned that it didn't happen. That said, I had assumed that Aarons would have been in addition to the actual Grant replacement we had lined up!

I believe he’s already done the 2 week quarantine and has been training, cm I heard Ander Iturraspe? We need someone else who's able to play that deep defensive midfield role Hogg was playing against Rotherham. Former teammate of Pipa at Espanyol, and got to a Europa League final with Athletic under Bielsa playing in that same position. I think Eiting's passing skills are better used in a further forward position as well so Iturraspe would make sense and hopefully be a really good signing.

What a crushing day, CC will have to coach the beejezus out of this team. 2-3 good players short and now hostage to the mercenary market, futures bright! The young ones must be fist pumping in private because they will get plenty of chances to play. How right you were..young Josh Koroma opens his account after his first run in the team. All the players were buzzing today from the young to the old in Hogg and Stearman & Hamer. Not since early Wagner have the players looked so energised and united.

Reliably informed the paperwork cock up was on the Newcastle end , and that Aarons will still sign in January. Time will tell
