Not really. Boro went up in 15/16 with Nugent as top scorer with 8. Cardiff in 17/18 with Paterson with 10. You're stuck in the 80's though so will probably continue to peddle the "need a 20 goal striker" cliche  And let’s not forget the year we went up, our top scorer in the league was Kachunga with 12 goals That's ten more than Campbell got last season. |

If Lewis O’Brien wasn’t so pivotal in his mid field role, in the absence of the purchase of a proven striker, for me, he’s worth a punt up front. Reminds me a lot of Lee Clark , great box to box midfielder , but the geordies used to call him jigsaw. Goes to pieces in the box. I'm hoping that Lewis can improve that part of his game as he lacks composure at the moment. Never a forward though . |

Been told (not declaring this is all 100% truth and someone of Maynards knowledge can happily squash the rumour) but this is what I’ve just had a text saying, as some know on here I’ve been right with bits in the past.
Grant is going to the baggies for around £15m plus add ons.
Robbie Gotts in from leeds season loan not sure why but Carlos wants him.
Kongolo is going to Fulham, we owe Monaco money and that is going to be paid by Fulham plus a fee.
Enquires made with Arsenal about the return of ESR for rest of season, not easy with a list of clubs after him but now the option of him going to a premier league club on loan have gone we are in the running....

Strikers come as a package nowadays. It's all talk of front three's. Although I'm a big counter attacking fan, I long for the days of 4:4:2. Two up top, big man, little man. One holding, one moving. One back to goal, one breaking. Flicks and combinations. Telepathy. Jumpers for goalposts. 100% agree. Not having a “Big “ Centre Forward means we are never a threat aerially up front - so what’s the point in people discussing wingers and crosses? Even if you choose not to play this way all of the time, most teams have this as an option. People talk as if the days of the striker are gone just because of how Liverpool play. |

Goals win games, it's not as if we're blessed with goals elsewhere in the team. I could understand if we had a midfielder scoring 12/13/14 a season but we don't. Just play O'Brien up top....😆😆😆 He could form a twin striking partnership with Pritchard. Might work if we play a team who’s 2 centre half’s are Danny Devito and Tattoo from Fantasy Island. |

I'd agree that chance creation is our biggest issue. I just don't feel comfortable with the notion that it's our only issue. And £3m for Kongolo is poor. Then again, we need him off our books and his stock really has plummeted to the point where nobody else is wiling to pay more. Such a shame. And yeh it’s clear in an ideal world chance creation plus a proven goal scorer would be what we want however it’s probably more of a case of they need to prioritise what they think is more important and it’s also important to note that Maynard said Carlos does want a 9 rather than the club said that.Suggest that like I say we hae prioritised what carlos thinks is more important with a view to maybe resolving the further issues in January if possible(difficult window) or next summer when Campbell is out of contract. Fair point, I hadn't seen that. Thank you. |

It’s clear Carlos thinks it’s more chance creation that’s the issue than some sort of goal machine.Plus they are very hard to come by hence why West Brom have chased grant for best part of the year.Be couple of wide players plus who knows what for the third won’t it. Glad to hear also on another note that yeh 3 million quoted for kongolo is absolute dross. Trouble with that is we've 2 injury prone strikers and a set of midfielders that, Bacuna apart, wouldn't get 5 goals between them all season |

I remember reading Bradford fans say the same about O'Brien and Swindon say the same about Edmonds-Green, and they turned out to be wrong. I even remember seeing Town fans say it about ESR too. The only people who have truly seen him is CC and Schofield |

Counter attacking relies on speed and currently that's just a banned substance as far as our players are concerned. I know, I was on about what style of football I like. Hogg can't play every week - especially 3 games a week - as he still clearly has a hip issue, plus the number of bookings he accumulates. |
