Tbf if I was giving out solid information on transfers and giving explanations for them and the replies were mainly snide comments, complaining and generally people thinking they know better id get fed up.Everyone is entitled to their opinion granted just maybe gets tedious at times. Well it would seem he's definitely signing otherwise he wouldn't be getting his knickers in a twist like this. I've never seen him react like this before. He obviously rates Holmes a lot more than I ever have. I didn't mean any offence by the quip, humour doesn't always come across well on here especially when I type it !

If he couldn't agree a new deal with Derby it's probably because they offered him a lesser deal than his current one which tells you everything. If they wanted him to stay they would have offered him a better deal. They want rid cos they dont think hes good enough and I agree. A L2 player at best. Like them being in serious financial trouble? He has never played at league 2 level. Was POY for Scunthorpe in League 1, they reached the playoffs both seasons he was with them, and a key part of Derby's Championship side last year. Are you just looking for an argument because I really can't see any other reason for posting rubbish like that.

Interesting story about Duane Holmes - I once met him on a night out in the Acca in Halifax with Jake Carroll. He used to be on Tokyo's every saturday night also

Whiteman for 1.5m would have been a far better buy or even push the boat out for Mowatt. Both better than Holmes by a country mile but probably out of our price range nowadays I hope we can still afford a 1.5 million transfer fee or else we’ve fallen a lot lot further than I ever imagined after late in may 2017

So he is sticking up for his mate. Wouldn't you stick up for your mate ? I cant get why folk aniow qt the guy tbh . If he fucks off everyone will be having a right whinge in the summer Can't get why folk what ? Who's had a go at him personally ? I haven't. He's come up with a name, I've never been a fan of the one he named and I've said so. He seems to have taken it to heart and's the one that's had a pop at me.

I don't know why I've taken against the idea so voraciously tbh. It just seems a strange one, he was just in the group of ex players that coming back here that never entered my head.

It’s sounding like people think he has definitely signed for us, have I missed something? I thought he looked quality when I saw him playing for Derby under Frank Lampard, I’d be happy if we signed him, are we actually talking to him?

I think the biggest problem seems to be he's been here before, and when he wasn't really ready so was very inconsistent (although still had some very good games). The other problem for a lot of people will be he isn't going to cost £5m. I think if he hadn't played for us before there would be far more favourable comments than negative especially considering how he's played since he left us and developed his game.

He was a kid when he left, don't get the issue, hardly going to be the same player now is he? May as well just bin anyone under 21 off now because they're never going to progress or develop into better players.

Does not picking a player force them out in January? The amount they would get won’t be a lot.
They are also in a relegation battle. If Derby thought he’d enhance their desperate for points team i’d sure they’d pick him regardless.

There's many examples of far better players than Holmes being frozen out due to a contract running down or a potential transfer.

We didn’t pick our players we wanted rid of, it didn’t help us get rid of them. You are right of course but in this case he’s doesn’t appear to have been frozen out as such. He’s been in every squad i’ve seen, usually on the bench and coming on after 60 minutes or starting and going off after 60 minutes. From the outside that just looks like a player who can’t get in a poor Derby team due to form not contract problems. I do realise he did play in a very good team under Lampard, no small achievement. l

Personally I was shocked when I heard this news break, but also quite happy, I’ve watched him a bit since he left and he’s decent in my view, I think we could do much worse, also I think he will have a point to prove which will give him that extra 10 percent, local lad, if he signs, let’s get behind him boys

Sounds like they have an issue with cash flow pending the take over. If town pay the fee upfront and in full they could get Holmes for a really good discount

The other thing to look at here is that he hasn't been scouted or marked out as a possible transfer just because he's been here before. For those watching him that will have nothing to do with it it's just coincidence, he's been picked out because of his talent and potential to improve our team.

The way Derby are with their finances they should be grateful we'll take his wages on never mind a transfer fee...

They may have a plan....Rename the stadium and sell it back to themselves again. Let’s face it the EFL would probably not notice!

Just looked on the Derby forum.
Bottom line opinion on him from their fans is: - Better winger than CM - Good guy puts in a lot of effort - Not particularly effective or physical enough - They're not sad to see him go
