Just looked on the Derby forum. Bottom line opinion on him from their fans is: - Better winger than CM - Good guy puts in a lot of effort - Not particularly effective or physical enough - They're not sad to see him go I thought it was the opposite and they were saying he is a better CM than a winger but they’ve been playing him on the wing. Lots and lots of positive comments from them in there too.

Sounds like Derby are all over the place. They want to sell for the money but the manager they’ve just appointed wants the player.

Maybe, but surely you either want to sell him or not. I doubt Town are going to be bounced into paying top whack for a lad out of contract in a few months.

I read on their forum one of their guys saying they should be selling for £2-3m... Which is what we bought Karlan for. Outrageous valuation of a player out of contract in 5 1/2 months...

Oggy on radio Leeds just said a medical is booked in for Monday! Unless their eloquent, smooth-talking coach can talk him out of it.

Oggy on radio Leeds just said a medical is booked in for Monday! I know we have a lot of injuries and we’re getting a bit desperate but we could do with signing better players than Oggy.

Could be bollax, could be true... not fussed either way to be honest.

Not in their squad today, unless he's injured maybe Oggy is right.

The general opinion seems to be he's a good player (and as a lad they all seem to love him) who most would be sad to see go but would understand it as he is out of form and confidence. Quite a few have mentioned it happened in the period after Sinnott died plus an injury he picked up not long after in March. Very much a team player and good with the ball was a general opinion as well, if he was an unknown I'd be thinking he might be a useful player that would fit in here....

I asked Maynardblue a simple question which he hasn’t answered. Did Derby approach Town or did Town approach Derby about Holmes?

It’s been said already on the thread but forget about the young lad that we let go.
Carlos in pre-season reached out to Mbenza due to his attributes and that he knew there was a player in there that fit the mould that we need.
Holmes has a turn of pace, can spot a pass and is good with the ball at his feet - Carlos will look at that and think that he will do a job in the middle, probably at the head of the midfield 3.
His attributes are pretty much exactly what we thought we were getting with Pritchard. Getting a player relatively cheap, coming up to the prime years. Give the lad a chance.
If we were going in for Tom Lawrence, for example, they’d be probably no complaints even though would cost a shed load more in fee, wages and no more of a guarantee he’d do anymore than Holmes could.

I looked on a Derby forum and having looked through a page or two that was the impression I'd been left with. So explain the bolded bit please.

How have you barely seen or heard of someone who played for us less than 5 years and has played regularly in the Championship for the past 3 seasons? Explain that please. No preconceived thoughts on the signing and yet you've gone on the forum and picked out all the bad comments about him and ignored all the good ones? There was a 6 page thread on him on their forum and not one of them pages was as bad as you made out if you read them subjectively so why did you just pick out the negatives? Explain that please.

Saying he's a better winger than CM isn't negative. Saying he puts the effort in and is a good guy isn't a negative. Saying he isn't physical is neither here nor there, you don't have to be physical to play football (Aguero, Sterling etc) No I didn't trawl through every comment on every Derby forum and make a statistical analysis about it. You picked these comments out as negative. You interpreted them that way. You attacked me for something you've thought but I've not written I don't live in Huddersfield and haven't for 13 years, over the past few years suddenly they've become accessible to watch again. I don't watch Derby play regularly, do you? I've answered all your questions, but you haven't answered mine. So explain that bolded statement please.

I'm guessing that we want Holmes to be the player Pritchard never was for us. Hard to compare the two though... Pritchard plays in small circles linking up and passing sideways/backwards, whilst from what I've seen, Holmes runs in straight lines towards the goal he's supposed to be attacking!
Therefore, similar players except their arses are facing in opposite directions.
