Nothing to lose
Someone has to be better than nobody even if he hasn’t scored since 2018 / played for 12 months
Ridiculous it’s come to this

Surely the point of a ‘bubble’ is to minimise the amount of people you come in to contact with and even try and control it? ie even have a contractual arrangement around peoples behaviour. Seems a fairly straight forward concept That's what they make you think. Think of your day today, will you have come into more or less contact with people than a footballer? A town player today will have been with around 20 players and 10 or so staff, whether that is travelling to Luton or training. Tomorrow they will then be in contact with a referee and the opposition. Myself and many other may have been in contact with a handful of people. Hope you dont think I'm trying to cause a stir. I really am not. It was something I thought of regarding Niasse and quarantine. And then Tuchel at Chelsea. Same scenario, different rules. The difference is the football league doesn’t know how serious you or Niasse are about limiting your exposure. They don’t know if you’ve stopped in for a few cheeky pints at the pub or dropped by the local betting agency for a punt because you were bored. I’d say the players are having their food delivered and aren’t spending an hour going through the aisles of the local supermarket. While it may appear that they are coming into contact with more people, they will be coming into contact with people who take their responsibility seriously. How do you know the lad you go jogging with didn’t spend the day in a crowded location, such as a family birthday party, before turning up for your run. You don’t. You only know what they tell you. You are overthinking by a factor of ten.

He sounds to have been Everton’s Alan Lee figure.
If he can get off the treatment table to run in a straight line without falling over he’ll soon be ahead of Ward & Campbell in the pecking order though.

I know what you’re saying but the point is the ‘bubble’ is in theory controlled by the club who are the employer and can enforce sanctions if you break the rules. While not employed by a club none of that exists and regardless of what the reality is he could in theory break as many restrictions as he wants, travel wherever and put himself at more risk of catching the virus.

Suppose I didn't consider that. Shows how my mind is working in desperation for a new striker!

So for those who might know, is Niasse in quarantine already?

Must admit I'm starting to get concerned at how long this is taking. Once it became clear that the window had closed without us getting a deal over the line, we knew that there would be a 2 week isolation period before he could even train with us, let alone play. So today's game & Wycombe next week definitely out. Fine.
Then time ticked on, and we missed the deadline for Middlesbrough. Now it's ticked on further & we've missed the deadline for Swansea. We're not far off missing the deadline for even having him train before we play against Derby County. Preston right at the end of the month looks the earliest we could see him.
That's 4, probably at least 5 out of 19 games missed even if we pull our fingers out now. For a striker that we've known we needed all season, and who we reportedly started negotiating with a fortnight ago.
Worrying.

Town seem to be notoriously slow to get transfers over the line which makes you wonder how they could be scratting around on deadline day trying to sign a striker. If it can be done in a few hours then why do usually take so long?

I did state this Friday but had a few non believers. Goal record not great but will give us a different option and oh boy do we need it!

This lad has scored 4 goals in 30 Championship games. He didn't score in about 14 games for Cardiff. What's the point.

Either way it will be a month before he would be fit enough to even play in the Championship.

And I was one of them, and will remain so until I see confirmation on the club's twitter feed &/or OS. The fact Maynard has liked a post saying this suggests that a deal may be imminent & I hope it is, because time is ticking away & if we're not careful he may miss too many games to save us.

Although in the circumstances I wonder whether he'd be ok on the bench. He might not manage 90 minutes but coming on with 20 minutes to go to offer something different might be doable.
