After the first 5 or 6 games, Forest fans were raving about him saying he was one of the only positives after their bad start. Then he gets benched/dropped for a bigger name and is now struggling in his cameos.

Wouldn't surprise me as they have something we don't possess right now - ambition. We're quite a sad and pathetic excuse for a football club.

Whats the obsession with O'brien?, he can go on naked and afraid for me, have his bollocks bit off by a hyena, or he can return town and have them kicked off in training by Ayina!!

Our biggest miss this season. Desperately need to replace him. Good luck to him wherever he ends up. Think he'd be well suited to a Boro.

From what I heard he wouldn't dream of coming back here after the way we treated him over the Forest deal . Even after the way we played it and messed things around alledgedly, they still got him/Toffs for peanuts.

Because our midfield is horrendously one-paced without him. He was the heartbeat of our engine room last season and provided the transitions from defence to attack. I take it you're not a fan and prefer this season's formation?

There's a formation?, but do you actually think Obrien will come back to Town, ok Bowler gone back to pool, if he does yeah it will be positive, but can you really see it?. Ps I'm not a fan, I'm a supporter.

How did we treat him? if he went for peanuts assumedly the implication is we rolled over and begged Forest to take him??

No I don't think there's a snowball in hell's chance of him returning, however I was curious about your disdain for a feller who was a huge part of a successful season last year. I don't think there's a formation either, I was just using the term very loosely.

He was a big success, is a very good championship player, may make it at premier league level with the right team, time will tell. Cannot see Forest loaning him out, be surprised if they do.

That sounds like Forest fucked us around and wouldn’t pay a decent amount for him, just low balled us to unsettle LOB. It worked, but maybe he should be looking at his current employer, the one that signed 10 players per position and he wonders why he can’t get a game 🙄

If there are any fans who wouldn't take O'Brien back over the lower league plodders we brought in to "replace" him then I'd genuinely question their sanity.

Or perhaps he hasn’t had a fair chance and/or good run of games? Difficult to judge his level until that happens. Agreed though, surprised there weren’t more suitors at that price, so maybe he’s not rated too highly. We all know his strengths (carrying the ball forward, work rate) and weaknesses (lack of goals and assists). He just needs to find a team where he fits. Whether that is a top Championship side or Premier League is too early to tell (still only 24). He prob is a mediocre prem player / top end champshp player......but thats way better than where we are as a club sadly. Not been given too many chances and still room to improve but id take him back here in a heartbeat - Miles better than what we currently have. Sure every town fan would have him back, and Id imagine every championship club would put him straight in their starting XI if they could. Hes proven himself to be a very good player at this level. But I never thought he'd make the step up that easily myself. Effort and mobility will get you a long way at lower levels, but in that position in the PL ( box to box midfielder ) I think you need an amount of quality that LOB doesnt really have... not at this stage of his career anyway. £8m was a pretty decent price for him IMO and all those people who insisted Forest had had our pants down got it wrong Id say.

Well suited to a club with a shred of ambition Id imagine if you were a Boro fan, a whole 9 league games ago you'd have been bemoaning your club as having zero ambition, down at the arse end of the table after another defeat as they were. Since then they've appointed Carrick .. a total novice manager..a similar unproven cheap option that LB and DH get criticised for.. and because that call has proved to be a very good decision so far , they have loads of ambition? Is it 'ambition' or is it just getting a decision right?

Even after the way we played it and messed things around alledgedly, they still got him/Toffs for peanuts. In what way? We offered him a new contract with a buy out amount attached to it, which he happily signed, but then didnt stand in his way from joining a PL club even when that buy out amount wasnt reached ( so the story goes ), which of course we could have done. I dont see why he wouldn't be extremely grateful for how Town dealt with him.

Do i think we messed lob and off around NO i do not, they left because they wanted to and probs cheaper than they should have. With the mass spending offrest did in the summer and will probs do again this month, did i think either of them would become regular prem players there NO.
Toff turned down the offer of been the highest paid player, he then ran down his deal to make it easier for other clubs to take him.
Obrien left for less than he was worth/ fee release clause.
When they were both on the pitch they gave it there all for us, i will give them that but as soon as the final whistle went in May i knew they would both go. They have moved on so have the club ok not in a postive away currently.
Do i think either will or should come back NO asi just all round do not think it would be worth it for the club or them .

Maybe went a season or two early, forced out by a club desperate to cash in. We do seem to be one of the few championship clubs keen to cash in immediately on players, he’d have gone earlier if Leeds had kept up their interest. Loads of sought after players at other clubs who don’t need to sell unless it’s for mega money. Would it have hurt to keep him for another season or two? Based on what we’ve been told about how payments are made it would seem not. Good luck to him, quality player.

I don't think he was forced out, looking at his PL form & the slump in his current value perhaps Town sold him at the right time, also its hard for any Championship player to say 'no thanks' when a serious PL offer comes along..........didn't both (Toffolo) get FOUR year deals?

Blimey have a go at the club by all means but there's no way O'Brien or Toffolo were staying for another season or two.

You could argue that had he left the season before last, which could have been very tempting for him, then we may never have had the season we did last time.
It’s almost an irony that in helping us get so close then eventually leaving, the reaction to his situation is amplified by some supporters.
Maybe we should have sold him to Leeds and the moaning would have started a few months earlier?

But you think Kasunu is better and we’ll finish in the top half, so we can discount your opinion on this one. Dont remember saying Kasumo is better ( I did think we'd finish top half at start of season ) but if you want to discount my opinion, knock yourself out. Ill struggle on without your support! Presume you were one who was bleating on that we didnt get £15m for LOB even though no one was valuing him at anything like that?
