But you think Kasunu is better and we’ll finish in the top half, so we can discount your opinion on this one. Dont remember saying Kasumo is better ( I did think we'd finish top half at start of season ) but if you want to discount my opinion, knock yourself out. Ill struggle on without your support! Presume you were one who was bleating on that we didnt get £15m for LOB even though no one was valuing him at anything like that? I actually deleted my comment as I thought it was probably being a bit petty and I should have at least put a winking emoji! I thought we might’ve have got slightly more, but as I acknowledged earlier it says something that no other clubs came in at that price (seems a no-brainer and you’d think worst case you’d get your money back) and that he lacks creativity (assists/goals) to be a top player at this stage in his career. I think he can definitely do a job at Premier League level and the Forest fans I know were impressed initially (we’re not as friendly these days so we don’t talk football too often!).

Maybe went a season or two early, forced out by a club desperate to cash in. We do seem to be one of the few championship clubs keen to cash in immediately on players, he’d have gone earlier if Leeds had kept up their interest. Loads of sought after players at other clubs who don’t need to sell unless it’s for mega money. Would it have hurt to keep him for another season or two? Based on what we’ve been told about how payments are made it would seem not. Good luck to him, quality player. Blimey have a go at the club by all means but there's no way O'Brien or Toffolo were staying for another season or two. True but only because the club had no interest in keeping them. There was only one club in for either of them. They weren’t exactly in demand. I don’t see why you’d think it would be impossible to keep them? Especially with the price being so low. Toffalo a little different in that he deliberately ran his contract down looking for a pay day but either player could have been kept if the right deals were offered imo. We’d just finished third and missed out on the PL by a whisker. I think as town fans we just accept the fact that any star players who attract any PL interest have to be sold immediately, it’s not how many clubs operate and it’s not essential to immediately sell you best players, particularly if you don’t have a decent succession plan. Town were desperate to cash in, hence why we took peanuts. If you’re desperate to sell, there’s only one buyer and they know you’re desperate there’s not much bargaining power. Another season as the championships best midfielder wasn’t exactly going to see his value plummet was it, his fitness record is also very good so minimal risk there.

problem clubs have is that even if they can do without the money selling such players brings in... and Town couldn't...then theres a chance you are not keeping the same player(s) anyway, because having denied them their chance to move to a PL club ( and maybe triple/quadruple their income ) who's to say the player is going to be as committed to playing for you anymore? Theres likely to be resentment and that can badly effect not just that players form, but can cause rifts throughout the squad. It also sends a message to all present and future players that were a club that will stand in a players way to the 'big time' as appose to being a pathway to it.
So theres a good chance the value of that player, both to you on the pitch and in his value in the transfer market is going to drop significantly if you deny them the chance of progressing.
If the price we got for LOB ( or Toffolo ) was 'peanuts' then other clubs would have outbid Forest. Lots of clubs were monitoring him. A players only worth what anyones prepared to pay and thats what we got. neither of them have done anything to suggest we gave them away cheaply.
When we were in Forests position, if we'd paid £8m for a player who often cant even get on the bench and has been largely limited to the odd sub cameo here and there , then we'd all think someone had had our pants down!

I've personally lost interest in LOB now. As we are very unlikely to ever get a sell on fee.
When was the last time we actually got a sell on fee? I can only really think of Danny Ward when he went from Rotherham to Cardiff. It looks as though we won't be getting anything for Coady, when he leaves Wolves.

Did we ever get one for him? Could well be Alex Smithies. Think we sold him to QPR for £2m and didnt they sell him to Cardiff for about double that? So might have been a cut of about £2m there? Struggling to think of anyone after that where we might have. Coady is a disappointment as potentially he could be sold for £20m, current England international, 29 years old... meaning about £18m profit we'd get a share of ( though imagine wed have to give a big slice of that to Liverpool ) Presuming there is a standard 20% sell on, do Town get a 20% share of any loan fee Everton are currently paying wolves?

If Connor Coady was ever worth £20 mill football has truly lost the plot, ( it has anyway).

If Felix plays every single Chelsea league game that’s left this season it works out at just under half a million quid per game, before wages.

Oh dear, Lewis not in Forests 25 man premier league squad and with his loan move to Blackburn falling through due to some paperwork issues it looks like he will be playing under 21 football for the rest of the season, although Blackburn are appealing the EFL decision.

Still a couple of countries where the window's still open. Could do worse than a loan to a club in Turkey for example. Can't believe the number of players in last season's side where my main thought on them now is 'hope he can get his career back on track'.

His skin will fry.

is it bad to be heartily enjoying the schadenfreude of LoB/Tof having such a shite time at Forest? I don't care it's funny and anyway they won't be two grand into their overdraft - so fuck 'em!

No it's not bad at all, when a player leaves us I rarely want them to succeed. Football is all about rivalry so I too am finding it amusing what's happened. Childish maybe but I don't have a problem with that. The move looks like it's done nothing for their careers other than made them very wealthy men so I guess they'll be happy anyway. They'll both probably end up at decent Championship clubs, nothing more than that. Couldn't care less about sell on clauses coz we won't see any of it invested in the squad anyway.

Am only antagonistic to ex players who behaved like lazy twats. LOB does not come into this category. I bet he had no idea Forest were going to sign 100+ players.

I've no ill will towards either LOB or Toff as they both gave 100% to the club the entire time they were here. Same can't be said for Karlan Grant..... were West Brom thinking paying £16m for that heap of shit with an even worse attitude than his first touch.

Not sure if there was a problem with him and Toffs being so clicky? Always seemed like a pleasant lad at Town. I guess if your face doesn't fit, and you are competing with some very expensive players, you could be stuffed.

We should offer to pay 10% of his wages for the rest of the season
