I've watched bits of women's football games & they are quite skilful, however, there are few tackles & the goalies are awful. I cannot seem to watch a whole game & I have tried. The World Cup was decent.

Can I politely suggest that in future you don't click on a thread created by a poster who you view with such disdain. Some of us quite like to see the sometimes controversial views of the said poster, whether those be football related or otherwise. I'm surprised that you haven't blocked him before now Might get my own Youtube channel...and invite Farage I can that happening the other way around. 🤣

I'm not posting very often now, but why is this poisonous twat suddenly appearing in the football forum - I thought his milieu was the politic forum where he can share his misanthropic inanity with those who vote to view it. Get shut. Abuse. Reported I imagine the admins will look at the report, and if they give a monkeys, think back what caused it and move clearly political posts to the other forum rather than allow the hate and bile he no longer seems to be able to contain to stain the main forum as well as the politics bit and his own paper-thin life. Wow, that's amazing... why is it such a big deal on Sky right now then? I thought they must be getting 15-20K each game. In that case, Oti's original post is valid Quotas and PC nonsense, The BBC football homepage makes sure it has at least one womens fotball story on it every single day. 5 years ago games were not on telly and women did not commentate, they are going out of their way to foist perceived womens issues on football fans. Same with the kneeling, pride laces, Kick it Out and all the other snowflake causes. More guilt, more brain-washing. Sounding like a snowflake here Otium. The world is changing and it’s for the better.

This topic isn't football-related is it, at least as his nibs views it?
There are some that like misanthropy - me included - but I don't rate it liberally doused in inanity. Some do, it cannot be denied.
I have indeed blocked said contributor - about 4 years ago - he was the first I think. Can highly recommend it.

The world is changing and it’s for the better. Noooooooo way. We live in ever weirder and dystopic times. Gangs, drugs, tattoos and slug eyebrows......a world where fame has absolutely nothing to do with talent or ability. A world where a distinction between men and women is no longer possible and even frowned upon! Kids in spectacles, kids with no teeth, fat people, the rise of the narcissist. Pulling down historical statues and glorifying rappers. Grooming gangs, fast food and grown men on video games and skateboards. The breakdown of society and the end of the nuclear family. People found dead in their homes after 5 years and neighbours oblivious. 70% of black kids in the UK grow up without a father....a change for the better? I suspect you are either 21 or studying social sciences. Almost EVERYTHING is worse than 40, 50 or 60 years ago Weak government, facile conversation, self-obsession. A move from nature and animals.....deforestation, pollution. Seas devoid of life. The new Dark Ages. A war would sort the wheat from the chaff. Family, religion, duty, service, pride and patriotism. Kids in the army now cry if they have to eat a rabbit. Better a world where you hunt food, sleep in the night, wash by hand and look another man straight in the eye. Noooooo, you are very, very wrong my friend. Its seriously messed up.

Surely this is a non story? The more people who watch and enjoy women's football will see the financial rewards rise? It's not like horse racing where men and women compete equally. The rewards will find their level as interest increases. There's no reason why women's football shouldn't be enjoyed. To compare with different levels of men's football is surely pointless? Is a top woman footballer worth less than a male? Technically no, but until the interest is at the same level and the same revenue levels are generated then supply and demand dictates. Comparing a top woman with a conference player is a tad insulting (to both groups) - two entirely different categories. Exactly. What a women footballer earns has got bugger all to do with what a male footballer earns. Both will earn what their respective sports can afford to pay them at the level of it that each player plays at.

One thing I do like about womens football is the honesty. You dont tend to get the playacting and diving that you get in the mens game... much like watching your local pub team cos they dont do that either. True about the goalies though, they are abysmal for some reason. I think they probably need to be using smaller goals to be fair.

If Man Utd season tickets are £39 & average crowds are a few thousand, how can they afford to pay anyone anything?

I used to coach a team and went to see England ladies a few times back in the 90's. They have improved a million percent but its still hardly a true spectacle. Its not elite, its like seeing your nephew turn out for the school in my opinion. England ladies would lose 9-0 to Stockport county on a good day...fact.

If Man Utd season tickets are £39 & average crowds are a few thousand, how can they afford to pay anyone anything? Same logic applies to the wages and revenue for most of the football league. As ridiculous as it sounds, players like Kevin De Bruyne are the ones who are underpaid as the leftover cash after paying players like him is overpaying 1000s of players through handouts across both genders.

Do you have the same feeling towards all female sport? I've had this debate with many people who use the same argument of non-elite men beating women's teams, but that is the case also for athletics and I'm sure any other event where physical dominance is relevant. Should the women's events be removed from the Olympics coverage and the equal mention is just political correctness?

Yes, its all rubbish and none of them should get paid as much as men until their performance is at the same standard. What next, England U-17 boys demanding what Rooney gets? Women sports can continue as long as it wants, just dont tell me its as elite as mens. We can have a donkey race on Blackpool beach but you wont be seeing them at Cheltenham.

Ok, I admire your consistency. However following Town flies in the face of that as at no point in my life have we been anything better than dogshit compared to watching elite football in the Champions League. Lower levels are different and should be viewed as such in my opinion; that applies to Town, a women's game, a U21 International, a Sunday league game, or my lads U9s.

Its few years ago now but when Stevenage were in the Conference they were at the same training complex as the England women's team and they played a friendly. Stevenage won 14-0. A previous post on this thread about Dallas boys U15's beating the USA women's team sums up the difference in class. I've no problem with women playing any sport but until they're a match for the men or their sport is as popular, any talk of equal pay is just ludicrous.

I imagine the admins will look at the report, and if they give a monkeys, think back what caused it and move clearly political posts to the other forum rather than allow the hate and bile he no longer seems to be able to contain to stain the main forum as well as the politics bit and his own paper-thin life. Bye. That won't happen. It will be you that gets banned just like I did last week. Meanwhile our resident lying, boring racist will be allowed to carry on posting bile because the thick and uneducated are somehow impressed by his fairy stories and pseudo intellect. It's a bit like those who still chuckle at 'Boris' as if he really is some lovable buffoon when the truth is something far far removed from that, and considerably darker.

My thoughts for what it’s worth - I’ve no problems with women taking part in any sport they choose to, although hand on heart I’ve watched the women’s rugby and football World Cup’s on tv but I’m not comfortable with boxing, that might be down to my (old) age ?
There are a few sports where woman COULD compete against men, snooker and darts for example, but that doesn’t mean they should be allowed, last year there was a huge deal made when Fallon Sharrock became the first woman to beat a man, Ted Evetts, at the World Championships. Leading to calls of “See, they can compete at this level” but in my view it’s a nonsense, if the World Title is the best 32 and a woman is one of them, do the next best 32 men drop down and participate in the women’s World Title and push all the women out of that ?
The original point of this thread was regarding pay in football and here again it should be down to what you are not only worth but what the sport or team can afford to pay, for example Adama Diakhaby at HTFC, reportedly on £30K a week in the PL, not because he was worth it but because it is the going rate for £10M footballers in the PL, if I’m being generous we might have sold 100 replica shirts with his name on and an extra 5 season cards when he signed (although I doubt it).
Whereas at Barcelona they pay Messi probably 30 times that amount per week but it can be justified, not only because he produces on the pitch but he’s probably self financing anyway, on the Frankie RIP thread this week there’s a photo of him from the 70’s, long hair, flared trousers sitting on a Lamborghini with a Miss U.K. on his arm, the average English footballer at the time could have the hair and flares but would have had to make do with a Ford Cortina and runner up in Miss Butlins, Skegness.

If Man Utd season tickets are £39 & average crowds are a few thousand, how can they afford to pay anyone anything? So it isnt viable as a professional sport in this country then. So be it. Maybe it will be one day with the TV companies falling over themselves to support it? If it ever is, then players can expect their pay to go up accordingly. Doesnt mean girls cant or shouldnt play football.

Its a game of footie between two equivalent sides, so be it women or under 11s or fat blokes on a Sunday morning, you take it for what it is and enjoy it for that. If it had to be 'elite' football to be interested, id never have started supporting Town!
