If Man Utd season tickets are £39 & average crowds are a few thousand, how can they afford to pay anyone anything? So it isnt viable as a professional sport in this country then. So be it. Maybe it will be one day with the TV companies falling over themselves to support it? If it ever is, then players can expect their pay to go up accordingly. Doesnt mean girls cant or shouldnt play football.Totally agree |

You mean you watch it?! I used to coach a team and went to see England ladies a few times back in the 90's. They have improved a million percent but its still hardly a true spectacle. Its not elite, its like seeing your nephew turn out for the school in my opinion. England ladies would lose 9-0 to Stockport county on a good day...fact. Yeah they would. But they arent playing men. Its a game of footie between two equivalent sides, so be it women or under 11s or fat blokes on a Sunday morning, you take it for what it is and enjoy it for that. If it had to be 'elite' football to be interested, id never have started supporting Town! And if it had to be entertaining i would never have started supporting Town. |

Remember foolishly going for a dip in one of the Calder's canals in Mirfield when i was a kid. I had a film of stinking filth on me for days that wouldnt wash off ( and a clip round the ear ) It was lifeless and polluted. Now its teeming with fish. I see herons and kingfishers on a daily basis. Ive seen an otter behind John Cottons. Theres way more deer now. Foxes are thriving and raptors previously persecuted into near extinction are back in large numbers. Buzzards, falcons, kites. We even have cranes, boar and beaver back in the UK. Its not all good, but by and large its way better. I have fond memories of the past too. Think we all do. Of people and that social interaction you mention.. of a perceived honour and civility that isnt here anymore. But in truth i think a lot of those memories are clouded by rose tinted specs and the fact as a child we probably didnt see it as it really was. |

Melodramatic? My entire life has been on hold....literally. I walk the same route every single day, alone and see no-one. I talk in the flesh to absolutely no-one. I just had 5 mins with the receptionist about tomorrows weather....my first human interaction in 12 hours. I have not seen two of the three members of my only family in over a year. My winter in India cancelled...stuck in total limbo. A man pulled up next to me in a car yesterday and tooted his horn pointing at me to wear a mask. He was alone in a car wearing a mask! He got both barrels. I could not see my girlfriend for SEVEN months after i was given a year to live. I book a hotel it gets cancelled. I book a flight it gets cancelled. I have had 12 PCR tests and have two more booked. I cant get get a meal or a beer. I cannot have any form of normal entertainment. I have an account full of money but just a few months to live because Covid denied me two treatments including a live-saving operation. Yes, i am an innocent victim of Covid bullshit rules that have saved no-one anyway. This is not living...give me the pain of war anytime for at least you have a cause and hope!!! Have a look at the two recent 1970's threads....far better than today.....far better. |

I stood perfectly still and this otter got out no more than 10 feet from me. Had a sniff about and buggered off again. Think boar have largely re-introduced themselves from farms and as nothing eats them now we dont have wolves, apparently theyre numbers are getting a bit out of hand. Theres a few beaver projects up and down the UK.. a term that always reminds me of nights out in Wakefield when i was in my late teens.  |

I stood perfectly still and this otter got out no more than 10 feet from me. Had a sniff about and buggered off again. Think boar have largely re-introduced themselves from farms and as nothing eats them now we dont have wolves, apparently theyre numbers are getting a bit out of hand. Theres a few beaver projects up and down the UK.. a term that always reminds me of nights out in Wakefield when i was in my late teens. A bloke has introduced a pack of wolves in Scotland. Private land fenced in. I saw my first wild boar two years back in Poland. I was out for a twilight stroll and there he was....we looked...he grunted then carried on digging for roots. Heard them often in the forest in Sweden, Poland and Hungary but boy do they know how to hide. |

All I’d say is that there isn’t enough time to watch all the football on tv I’d like to so I certainly don’t have time to watch a lesser version played by women, sorry. I don’t have any issue with women playing football, more power to them I say but as a spectacle, not for me and many, many, others judging from the tv viewing figures. It’s just not very good.

I quite enjoy watching women's footy, just watched Man City vs Reading and liked it, especially as Jonathan Pearce wasn't involved!
However Oti's point is 100% correct, not a patch, skill-wise, on the men's game! The odd player (Fran Kirby, Georgia Stanway, Jordan Nobbs, etc.) could easily play in the men's game!
Obviously I ain't speculating on the level they could reach coz despite liking watching their games, on this board I'd STILL be accused of misogyny from some posters!

No, early one morning walking my dog. Stopped to fill my vape pipe and noticed this line of bubbles coming straight towards me in the river. I stood perfectly still and this otter got out no more than 10 feet from me. Had a sniff about and buggered off again. Think boar have largely re-introduced themselves from farms and as nothing eats them now we dont have wolves, apparently theyre numbers are getting a bit out of hand. Theres a few beaver projects up and down the UK.. a term that always reminds me of nights out in Wakefield when i was in my late teens. I’ve seen an otter in the river right outside the JSS. It was years ago, not long after the stadium was built. I was off work for some reason and went down to the club shop. I stopped on the footbridge for a few minutes, whiling away a bit of time and out of idle curiosity seeing if I could spot any fish, and the otter slid out of the water onto the bank a few yards to the side of where I was stood. I watched it go about its business for maybe 30 seconds, then it was back into the water and away. Still the only otter I’ve seen in the wild. |
