My take on Heff is that we flogged him to death in the promotion season. He played through injuries he really shouldn’t but we needed him. To the point it did long term damage. Hoyle realised this and to pay that favour back allowed him to leave for bugger all transfer fee meaning he got a fat contract at Forest. I don’t think you’ll see him play at a high level again. I think Hefs success was largely due to his personality than his quality . I loved the lad and his attitude and desire was there to see but, quite like Peter Clarke, his last ditch tackles were usually a result of an error Three immense performances in the play offs.

Personally don’t think he’s championship quality. Top person and a great influence on a dressing room but slow and full of mistakes at our level.

The thought of Hef trying to bring the ball out from the back regularly is terrifying.

Would be interesting to see what he’s planning on doing with his degree/masters in sports directorship.
Hefele in the boardroom or at least some figurehead role would galvanise the fans and get some of that positive energy back.

The thought of Hef trying to bring the ball out from the back regularly is terrifying. Hefele’s passing was really good, he started lots of moves with a good pass out to smith that took their winger out of the game. Him trying to dribble into space would be a bit of a disaster. But his playing days are long gone so it’s all a bit hypothetical because he won’t be coming back as a player.

Always thought during our promotion year that Schindler was obviously by far the better defender but Hefele's distribution was better, top notch at times.. some brilliant cross field passes that season from him.

Yeah don’t disagree with that, he wasn’t very mobile though No I definitely agree he looked scary on the ball at times, remember him getting it trapped a few times but it still didn't worry me half as much as when Keogh gets in the same situation. I really hope he's here for cover and influence alone this season.

He hasn't played a game in 18 months. Sanogo Niasse Vallejo I’m not suggesting we sign him (as much as we adore him definitely not!) but they hadn’t played for 9-18 months!

I cant say I know about the pre town situation of Vallejo but he has been a pleasant surprise. I'm assuming the Intel was that he was "not crocked '. Going back to January February you may remember that the other two were free agent signings after the window had slammd shut when someone in the club realised there was a real chance all of a sudden that we might get relegated . This is a pre season. We wouldn't and won't sign them two pre season . They were a last minute panic fix . As for hefele I don't think anything would warm town hearts more than hefele getting fit and healthy and returning to the club and playing out a couple of seasons . But neither will happen.

Personally I would love Heff to be involved with Town in some capacity just as an inspiration of how far you travel with sheer guts and determination to get on, with hard work and never taking no for an answer when you get knocked back. His life in football is amazing from being a kid up to his town days, god if only we had a squad with the same guts and determination to do well for the club and the fans as Heff we would walk this league.
I reckon he would work well with younger end of those at town trying to break into the squad.

Getting Michael Hefele involved in some capacity at Town is a no brainer for me. His enthusiasm for the club and for seemingly everything has to be used, whether that is on or off the pitch. I think the guy has a lot to offer, and his sheer popularity would be such a positive.

I have been thinking this for a while now and I agree with your thoughts I don't know the situation with Keoig but Jeff is a great character and would certainly be a asset to the young players and certainly in and around the dressing room and canal side. I have no idea if this could happen but who knows?
