Good to see that the club see Duhaney the same way as me. Unbelievable that he played for man city as long as he did. Had a couple of steady games this season, but up til that point hadn't shown any redeeming qualities at all. Too scrawny to be a good defensive right back, not explosive or confident enough to be a good attacking right back, not good enough on the ball to play anywhere else. I do wonder what Town and Man City saw in him. Brown definitely had something more about him but still not really good enough.

Which clubs are going to sign Mbenza and Bacuna for a fee. Surely any club outside of England could of snapped them up for free on pre contract agreements since January so why would they now pay for something they could of had for free and I can’t see any championship club spending any money on them unless we do a swap deal How could they have done that if we have the option to extend a year? Same way that Stankovic left last season. We had an option to extend for him but the club tried to renegotiate so he would be on less money and he then left for a free

Crikey
Keogh? That should have been an easy goodbye - and concerning it’s not! What’s he mentoring - the stewards? Let’s hope those discussions are not successful!
Campbell? Very generous
Mbenza / Bacuna deals, I understand why - could be good business if sold quickly. But risky and I don’t have much faith in us to get this right - If they’re here 2 weeks into pre season delaying signings coming in then were in trouble!

No complaints from me. Hopefully keogh on reduced wages and with reduced appearences. Be good to have around

If they're negotiating with Keogh on a mixed playing and mentoring basis- even if it's signed it's not going to be on a first team basis. We'll be keeping his registration in the case of some abject injury crisis like we had this year.
When Booth retired we did the same. This is a bit different because of the youth mentoring aspect to it. One thing that's stood out about training footage from this season is the number of youth players training with the first team. Maybe Keogh will be part of the first team in that way without playing, and incorporate his mentoring into that? I suspect Elphick will have been offered similar but turned it down.

My guess is that the club know they had deals lined up and have triggered their extensions because of it. If the buying clubs want them that much they will cough up.

We had an option to extend for him but the club tried to renegotiate so he would be on less money and he then left for a free So the club didn't exercise the option for Stankovic, where as they have for Bacuna and Mbenza. I'm perplexed why this is causing so much confusion. If the club have the option of the extension it's their right to exercise it meaning that player cannot leave.

It was probably complicated by the fact the season ended in July last year and the contracts run to June. So the option had expired by the time we knew which league we were in for 20/21.

Can’t understand keeping Keogh unless it’s just to have an older head around the place. He’s not good enough for Championship football any more. We need 2 new centre halves bringing in.

Given what Keogh got up to last year I wouldn't have thought we should be employing him to mentor the younger players. Hardly set a good example at Derby did he Niasse and Sonogoals leaving. Two signings that really worked out well! A lesson learned on why not to mess up transfer windows and have to rely on free transfers?

Keogh given a two year deal! Hmmm! Edit: had another look and it may be a fake account, so hold off on the outrage for a while. You've fallen for "Sandra's" change of name yet again.😁

Just looking through the list of players we have under contract on that article....Jesus, that is a seriously weak squad. The board should be under no illusions that we need serious investment or we will be rock bottom next season.

I think that is the worse retained list I've ever seen. It certainly highlights the huge amount of work that needs to be done in the next 6 weeks.

Delighted re Critchlow.
Gutted re Keogh, should’ve been first out. I despair if we consider him a regular first teamer again.

That retained list looks horrendous.... Totally agree. If the club wants to make a start on repairing its relationship with its fans then it has to produce some bloody good results with recruitment this Summer.

All looks fairly sensible bar Keogh. Don’t ever want to see him and Sarr on the same pitch together. Shame about Niasse, but looks like he might be packing in. The “player/mentor” bit on the official site is worrying. Who in their right mind thinks he has the attributes to be a role model?? What next, Adam Johnson as the child welfare officer?

First Thoughts. Mbenza and Bacuna if we get a fee for them then well OK. If we still have them kicking around at the end of the transfer window they will cost a big chunk in wages that we should have got rid off at the first chance, I will have to see what happens.
Keogh does not bring to mind a mentor apart from saying look at me and what I did wrong. If it is as a defensive coach, maybe but I would have preferred someone with some experience as CC dose not appear to have expertise in this area, you only have to look at playing O'Brian at left back more than once to prove that.
Campbell was our only available striker last season and put in a shift, but the club happily let Schindy go so I was hoping that they would pull the hard line with Campbell as well. We don't seem to be getting in the players to meet CC style of play. Campbell and Rhodes could play together but I don't see us playing with two up front and two with a lack of pace as well. We will see.

it'll be a different role. Maybe defensive Coach? Would have thought maybe it’s more as backup and just have an experienced head about. They had that in the other 3 but expect he was on much lower wages. Just read the full tweet and I’m wrong for a change 😂 seems lining him up for a playing/mentoring players into the first team role.I have heard he is very good around the place to be fair.Maybe more mentoring less playing on the agenda.

Interesting fact: If Bacuna and Mbenza leaves this window the only players we actually have paid a fee for are:
- Toffolo (£500k) - Keogh (if he signs god forbid) - Pipa (£500k) - Hogg (£400k) - D Holmes (or was he free?) - Koroma (£300k) - Sorba Thomas (£200k?)
That this squad plus the departing superstars have managed to not get relegated has to be seen as an achievement, Bromby and co have a job on their hands this summer, that’s for sure!

Who better to mentor youngsters than someone who has made a mistake and (I assume) has learned from it. Experience counts for a lot.
