Rhodes has been signed for £8m (by Blackburn), £11m (by Boro) and £10m by Sheff Weds. We've got him for nowt Didn't we pay £350k?! I mean this time around - I think the first time we paid more than £350k

Seriously given your comment "How do you know what his wages are", how on earth can you be as confident as you seem that the reduction will be sufficient to justify a three year deal? I am lets just leave it there.... Thanks for that Jordan.

Rhodes has been signed for £8m (by Blackburn), £11m (by Boro) and £10m by Sheff Weds. We've got him for nowt He's not hit the heights recently but - and that it is a "but" - if he fires he's a seriously good goalscorer at this level Two things I would say - he will get the chance to play and the way we play he will get opportunities to score Personally, I think he's another solid signing I also remember that he didn't push a move in the winter transfer window the year we went up. Instead he stayed around and finished the job ... and there's no way we'd have gone up in 2012 if Rhodes (and his 40 goals that season) had left in January 2012 This pretty much how I see it. Hes a proven player. He's decent in the air and at linking up play. My concern would be about his fitness because he's struggled with injuries so hopefully we've done our homework on that. But if we can keep him fit then IMO he'll be a good option to have. With equal game time id be very confident he'd comfortably outscore any of our existing strikers, so to me that's an improvement.. what you want with a signing. Welcome back Jordan.

Would much rather we went after someone young looking to prove themselves like Liam Delap from Man City than another aging ex player looking for a final payday. Our recruitment team are plain fucking lazy. We have the young lad from Ireland to fit that bill who got injured straight away. Plus I think we'll sign another striker this window who might too. Plus our own youngsters coming through.

best attacking header of the ball I've seen at Town. If Clarky had played him against Posh from the start at Old Trafford I do believe we'd have won that game.
Negatives : His Age Pro's : put balls in the box for him and he'll score.

For the people losing their minds at the 3 year contract... What's he realistically going to be on? £15k a week? £780k a year? If it ends up being a year too long it's not much of an expensive mistake in the grand scheme of things is it?
If a 3 year contract was a deal breaker on his side and he does the business for 2 years then that's fine by me.

Think he’s a step up from what we’ve got but don’t want to start the season with Ward Campbell and Rhodes as our only three strikers

I seen an interview with him recently saying he felt in good shape and that he'd looked after himself, thats from the horses mouth.

If you think that combination is a problem (& TBF I share the concerns) the issue has been re-signing Ward in the first place and the contract extension to Campbell.

How do you work that one out? He’s not scored 15 goals in a season since 2015/16 He’s not reached double figures since then! About as much chance of Danny Ward playing 30 games Give him a bit of service and he'll score. So has he never had any service for the last 6 years then 🤔

I am lets just leave it there.... He'll be on about £15k a week which will be the new norm for a lot of previously high earning players that are renewing contracts or free agents. Unless you play for Fulham or the like, gone are days of earning £40-50k playing in the Championship I reckon

Wheres all this service coming from. Let's not forget Wednesday had a six point deduction. They should of finished two points below us, so we are pretty much on the same level of shitness. Whys it going to be any different here for him. I kind of think that our Coaching team might actually have a plan to get the best out of him. Why else do you think we’ve signed him? Someone might have to explain the plan to them first. Cus if its the same plan they had with Ward, Keogh and Holmes, then they probably devised it while they were pissed up.

And we wont be signing any more strikers as I estimate by Phils own reckoning we now have 6.

So our only opposition in signing him was a mid table league 1 team 🤔

I appreciate you can't stand him but give him a chance. If he ends up averaging 5 goals a season, like Campbell (who played nearly every match) then I'll accept you were right. At last, a proven finisher - let's see how he goes.

Rhodes will be fine if we play two up front with somebody like Campbell doing the donkey work. His goals have dried up over the last few years because since he left Blackburn he's played for teams/managers who predominantly play one up front. When Darren Moore came in at Weds he played Rhodes with a strike partner and he scored four goals in a relatively short space of time. I never expected to see you suggesting two up top 😉
