Fuck me, this is going to light up Owlstalk! They are already in a tizz because Barnsley had the temerity to post "We will host League 1 club Sheffield Wednesday in a pre-season friendly." I imagine a Wednesday win will see them drag this post back up. Massive, dontcha know? TBH I never gave Wednesday much thought until our playoff season, when operation pig and his arrogant deluded cohorts poured onto here to over egg themselves. Same. Used to quite like them till they started infecting this board. Then I took a look on Owlstalk and realised the ones on here were less deluded than the majority.

It strikes me as the first round of the Carabao cup has become "who'd like to lose most" (unless you are a League 2 club looking for a decent draw). I don't know why they just don't can it or make it by entry only i.e. you aren't obliged to compete. Can you remember when Bradford beat us on penalties? I genuinely didn't give a fuck, but their board was full of tales of men crying and 'greatest night of my life'. The thing is Iffy, that indicates to me that the Bradford board and fans know where they stand in the football chain in comparison with Huddersfield Town and that’s perfectly fine. A bigger town it maybe but they’ll always be in the shadow of Huddersfield Town and even if a Russian billionaire buys them and they reach the Premiership it’ll only have been purchased so no honour in my humble opinion ! Leeds however are the polar opposite.. Their main rivals ARE Huddersfield Town yet they seem to have it ingrained in their minds that Manchester United are their main rivals (and probably City as well nowadays). What an absolute joke ! One of my best ever buddies lived here but was originally from Batley (RIP Stevie) and I was down quite a bit for a booze up with his family. They’re all big Man Utd fans and there’s a sizeable chunk of Leeds fans in Batley. Cue Stevie and his family getting grief from all the Leeds crew who thought they were up there with The Red Devil’s.... Deluded or utterly deluded or what ! Of course it didn’t go down too well when I reminded them that Town are way ahead on head to head wins and are the one club and not a tribute act ! Anyway on my way to HTAFC matches I stop of in Manchester for a few hours on the sauce after a long journey and in the pubs from Shudehill to Piccadilly I meet plenty Man U fans. Happy to hear my Huddersfield Town love in they are and when I inevitably mention the Leeds delusion about Man U...cue the ‘yeah mate we know them lot’ and open mocking and laughter all around ! The Red Devil’s punters are pleased to know that the delusion of Leeds is mocked in far away Bonnie Scotland and that ‘little old Huddersfield Town’ have more fans than Leeds in the small and rural but beautiful West Island !!!!!!

I'm hoping for a few first teamers in with the 2nd string & youth/project players for that match. No first teamers = nothing to compare to, fringe players = get them bedded in & kids learn from experienced pros (1st team & fringe alike). eg Schofield Ruffels Olagunju Pearson Turton Hogg High Holmes Grant Campbell Rowe I think we'll be as near as dammit at full strengh. It'll be the last opportunity for the first team to play together in a competitive match prior to the big kick off.

I think they are still telling tales of this glorious victory 10 years later.

Does anybody know if there is a reason we are playing this a week before most of the other games are on? Can't imagine it will have been moved to be on sky, or is it just because its a Yorkshire derby to play on Yorkshire Day?

The league have allowed clubs to play the fixtures the week before the season starts, what the reason is, I don't know.

I suppose that it will be to ease congestion (!) within the season and also to allow the game to be part of the lead-in to the season. Not that that any teams won't be taking the Cup seriously, like...

First competitive fixture that many fans have been able to attend for nearly 18 months. Might be an attempt to revive a bit of interest in the competition.

Still no info on ticket sales? Ridiculous, isn't it? A week tomorrow until the game & still no news on tickets. Same with the Derby game a week later.

£15 quid is a bit steep for that, a tenner would be plenty enough.
