I would be delighted if some Saudis bought Town, then got in a huge name Manager, then bought anybody and everybody and then got promoted to the Premier League and started to win things. Basically if Town bought, that’s it bought with the stench of money, success. Not earned it, bought it. Who he hell would actually view this as success?. Like fuck I would. I would hate it and never darken Town’s door again. Them numbskulls up there seem to like it. What has become of football eh?. Really, what has become of any sport where money buying success is viewed as success?. Totally agree Morley. We are all in a privileged position of witnessing success - against all the odds. One of the lowest budgets and with a limited squad etc. I was so elated that I felt like I was on a different planet for weeks afterwards. I simply do not believe that you can experience such pure joy at achieving something when you have only achieved it by spending money.

I’m willing to pay Messi £5 million a week to play for Town for 3 years, Messi has agreed. Would you want to see this or not? Not a cat in hells chance. I most certainly would not.

I've heard there is a shortage of tea towels and snakebelts in the North East. Snakebelts! Blast from the past! Company I work for used to make the snake for those belts

When lots of clubs around Europe are doing the same i would condsider it success if you won say the CL becasue it would mean you had the best team, all the big hitters around Europespend millions trying to win the big prizes, and generally its always been the same even years ago but on a smaller scale, clubs still spent what was considered huge amounts at the time. I don’t see Man City as Man City anymore. What are they really? A trophy machine in a stadium devoid of passion and atmosphere chasing the dream on conquering Europe against other mega rich franchises. I do get the uplift and regeneration of the area around Eastfields but this shopping for trophies turns me off football. I cant think of anything worse. What's the fukin point? Why not buy all the players and not bother playing the game.

The Premier League will be loving this. Another big city franchise, er I mean big city club, to compete at the top of the league.

A trophy machine in a stadium devoid of passion and atmosphere chasing the dream on conquering Europe against other mega rich franchises. I do get the uplift and regeneration of the area around Eastfields but this shopping for trophies turns me off football. Aye... couldn’t agree more. The footy here in Scotland was so good and competitive when I was in secondary school, various teams all having a good chance of being champions, then an individual called David Murray took over Rangers and threw (ultimately taxpayers money) at them to wipe the floor with everyone else and eventually Celtic caught up and now we have the laughing stock of Europe two team league, and it’ll be 37 seasons since anyone (Aberdeen) last won the league up here.. This egotistical individual destroyed Scottish football and I don’t think it’ll ever recover, unless the bid two in Glasgow clear off to some sort of Atlantic league type set up. Ironically while he was revered by Gers fans for a while, his company collapsed and Rangers owed millions in three figure sums to HMRC, failed to pay it and The Excise liquidated them... He is now truly detested by their fans and fans of every other club in Scotland for what he did. Give me Dumbarton FC and Clachnacuddin any day !!! View AttachmentView Attachment Just for (almost) parity of esteem the same fate almost befell Celtic (4/3/1994) who were six minutes away from the bank foreclosing them until a last minute consortium bailed them out, however they had to pay the former shareholders in full after them running the club into the ground. I suppose a two team league is better than a one team one, but it’s still bloody awfel up here... if only some oilgirch would fling a good few millions at Hibernian of Hearts or Dundee or Dundee Utd to spice the boredom up just a little... Don’t get me wrong, I’m pleased for the lads in ma (24 houses) ! estate, and any kids that will enjoy whatever Newcastle will be become, but no doubt I’ll have to listen as I did with Man Utd, Chelsea, Man City etc about how these 30/40/50 year olds have always loved Newcastle Utd... Oh sweet Jesus, Thank God for Huddy Town !

Watch Sky start fawning all over them and when they bring in a big named manager it’ll be eg Jurgen Klopps Newcastle.

Their hounding of Steve Bruce has been cruel, nasty and completely out of order as well as unwarranted. He is supposed to be one of their own and hasn’t done a bad job up there. Trouble is, their fans think they are a big club (based on what exactly?) and they are not, they are an extremely well supported Club that get impressive home attendances (now).

Totally agree with this post, a big stadium and fan base doesnt make you a big club, look at bradford in division 4!! He is supposed to be one of their own and hasn’t done a bad job up there. Trouble is, their fans think they are a big club (based on what exactly?) and they are not, they are an extremely well supported Club that get impressive home attendances (now).

To the folk asking if we/i would want it... not a chance in hell
City are a horrible souless club that i would take no pleasure whatsoever in supporting.. i mean i hardly support town for the football i expect to see!? If I wanted that id have spent my afternoons growing up at old trafford
I've not a problem with a bit of investment into a struggling club, but not this scale, not this mob. Sure it will be fun for a bit, but one thing ashley's underinvestment could never do was lose the soul. They will lose it now, and they will never get it back.
I know a lot of die-hard city lads who used to go home and away who have completely fallen out of love with football

It's amazing to me how much Man City fans are happy with effectively losing their club for the sake of success. Success for who? It was basically the club's league status that was sold, not too dissimilar to Wimbledon.
If Town was bought by Saudi's i'd gradually stop being a fan. Not out of protest or any big statement, It just wouldn't feel like my club anymore and the enthusiasm would drain away.
My best memories of town were when we were shit. I remember Frank Sinclair getting sent off down at Brighton's old stadium, then pulling up a chair next to the town fans. People were shouting over "Don't worry about it Frank". This closeness of the club is what hooked me in. When I watch Man City celebrate winning the Premier League it looks about as fun as watching someone update their LinkedIn profile.

I know a lot of die-hard city lads who used to go home and away who have completely fallen out of love with football That's interesting because I personally had never been so far away from the club basically since Rafa left, both metaphorically and literally. Couldn't stand the owner, disliked the manager, not an ounce of emotion when (watching Jeff Stelling's show) we seemingly got a 91st minute winner vs Southampton, and the subsequent 96th minute equaliser to deny us two extra points. There were times were I'd actually not be bothered at all if they lost. It's all relative, but yes, on paper there are clubs far worse off then just stinking out the Premier League every season, but on the other hand, when you are so distant from the club that's merely existing for the sake of existing, and there's no emotions at all, then I'm not really fussed about other clubs fortunes. I'd have been delighted with a Leicester, Villa etc. style takeover, one (less controversial) resulting in a club that would expect to finish between 7th-9th most seasons, anything better is a great season, anything worse is a bit disappointing, and that's probably what it will be for the first 5+ years or so anyway, assuming we stay up this season. Yes, there's obviously well documented, concerning issues, and of course rival fans are not going to be happy, but when they have a foothold in the likes of boxing, F1, golf, and many other sports, even WWE, and the fact that if it wasn't Newcastle, then it would blatantly be someone like Leeds, or if not in the UK, someone like Roma, plus there's obviously plenty of other controversial ownerships at the top end of the game, I must admit, I personally do welcome the takeover, and it's going to be great to potentially see a season ticket waiting list again, a packed and boisterous St James' Park (not 8,000 empty seats vs Southampton, or the club giving away 10,000 half season tickets just before the pandemic), maybe a return of European football, a manager who's CV you respect, and a club where you actually care about the results again. The soul of the club was very much lost for me, so I'm definitely willing to give this a go, and looking forward to seeing what the future holds for the first time in ages.

Let's not pretend that most Town fans would turn a blind eye and ignore their moral compass if it meant world class players and Prem stability every season. I'd let Fred West build me a patio of it saved me a few quid. Who says football is the beautiful game.😞 I'd be disgusted if they took Town over, not that they would. Imagine being owned by a man who murders and cuts into pieces a journalist.

Brilliant support is supporting a club like Macclesfield in the non league not a Premier League club.

Just another takeover that makes the PL feel like it’s becoming franchised.
The fact that this is a fronted takeover, that you could argue is being done to avoid unwanted scrutiny just sums up where the UK is ethically nowadays.
Welcomed with open arms and blind eyes…
