I don’t see Man City as Man City anymore. What are they really? A trophy machine in a stadium devoid of passion and atmosphere chasing the dream on conquering Europe against other mega rich franchises. I do get the uplift and regeneration of the area around Eastfields but this shopping for trophies turns me off football. Absolutely. I was having this debate on Saturday with two City supporters who were slagging off United when they were on TV against Everton. IMHO they are worse than United ever were but they just couldn't see it. When I said Maine Road was a proper ground (Sh*8te admittedly) but the Etihad just an entertainment hub they tried to argue we were among the first to go down that road by moving grounds!! FFS .... later turned out I've been to Etihad three more times than one of them.... On subject, Newcastle best away day in the league IMHO. I don't mind (that much) their fans getting success. Couldn't happen to a worse set of fans in my own personal experience (on more than one occasion). As others have said, another nail in the coffin for football.

I dont really mind Newcastle having meggy rich owners because they are already a big club with a huge fan base It's not like city where they went from nothing to one of the best teams in the world in 5 years Newcastle and Man City were similar in terms of honours before Man City started buying success. Newcastle have 4 top flight titles, the last nearly 100 years ago (and people take the piss out of us for our success being so long ago); Man City's 2 titles (prior to recent times) both came since then. Newcastle have 6 FA Cups (the last over 65 years ago) and Man City had 4 prior to the 2010's. So City hardly came from nowhere; the size of a club can't just be measured in terms of crowd size. And the reason they get big crowds is like you say down to fan base. Newcastle have Sunderland to compete with; Man City have Man United, Liverpool, Everton, Leeds and the mighty Terriers to compete with for support

So the backer behind the Newcastle bid was found to have okayed the live dismembering of a journalist in a foreign (friendly) country. Anybody else think that the "fit and proper person test" is not fit for purpose? And that is probably just one snippet that we actually know. What on earth else goes on behind closed doors and a subdued media? If This was 1938, they would welcome Hitler as a PL club owner.

Thought it would be nice to take the girlfriend with me as it was our local pub trip. When we got near the ground the driver stopped to look at his map and hundreds of them appeared from nowhere and started bricking the coach. Nice. After a great game, even though we lost 5-2, we were kept in the away end for a while as they did in those days. Not content with the scoreline the bastards came round and started bricking us again as we were trapped in the concourse. So, although one shouldn't maybe bear a grudge after 40 years or so, I do

Let's not pretend that most Town fans would turn a blind eye and ignore their moral compass if it meant world class players and Prem stability every season. I'd let Fred West build me a patio of it saved me a few quid. Who says football is the beautiful game.😞 I'd be disgusted if they took Town over, not that they would. Imagine being owned by a man who murders and cuts into pieces a journalist. Oggy and Glennon would be shitting themselves!

At least they'll be the richest club in the Championship next seasom I will love it if that happens, love it. Be funny as fuck😁 But would be very surprised if it happened. Norwich, Burnley and Watford/ Southampton for me to go down. Be nice to see Leeds in there but I'll think they'll have enough to stay up😠😠

To the folk asking if we/i would want it... not a chance in hell City are a horrible souless club that i would take no pleasure whatsoever in supporting.. i mean i hardly support town for the football i expect to see!? If I wanted that id have spent my afternoons growing up at old trafford I've not a problem with a bit of investment into a struggling club, but not this scale, not this mob. Sure it will be fun for a bit, but one thing ashley's underinvestment could never do was lose the soul. They will lose it now, and they will never get it back. I know a lot of die-hard city lads who used to go home and away who have completely fallen out of love with football That's interesting because I personally had never been so far away from the club basically since Rafa left, both metaphorically and literally. Couldn't stand the owner, disliked the manager, not an ounce of emotion when (watching Jeff Stelling's show) we seemingly got a 91st minute winner vs Southampton, and the subsequent 96th minute equaliser to deny us two extra points. There were times were I'd actually not be bothered at all if they lost. It's all relative, but yes, on paper there are clubs far worse off then just stinking out the Premier League every season, but on the other hand, when you are so distant from the club that's merely existing for the sake of existing, and there's no emotions at all, then I'm not really fussed about other clubs fortunes. I'd have been delighted with a Leicester, Villa etc. style takeover, one (less controversial) resulting in a club that would expect to finish between 7th-9th most seasons, anything better is a great season, anything worse is a bit disappointing, and that's probably what it will be for the first 5+ years or so anyway, assuming we stay up this season. Yes, there's obviously well documented, concerning issues, and of course rival fans are not going to be happy, but when they have a foothold in the likes of boxing, F1, golf, and many other sports, even WWE, and the fact that if it wasn't Newcastle, then it would blatantly be someone like Leeds, or if not in the UK, someone like Roma, plus there's obviously plenty of other controversial ownerships at the top end of the game, I must admit, I personally do welcome the takeover, and it's going to be great to potentially see a season ticket waiting list again, a packed and boisterous St James' Park (not 8,000 empty seats vs Southampton, or the club giving away 10,000 half season tickets just before the pandemic), maybe a return of European football, a manager who's CV you respect, and a club where you actually care about the results again. The soul of the club was very much lost for me, so I'm definitely willing to give this a go, and looking forward to seeing what the future holds for the first time in ages. Fair enough for the response, good to hear a fans opinion. I cant pretend to know how you lot feel after Ashleys ownership, but to clarify what I was getting at - I'm sure it's not felt like there's much of a soul recently, but it's still there, underneath..it just needed reviving/ashley gone...as you say, st james' will be rocking and the city will have a buzz back. I just think this, however, will have an irreversible effect on the club... and thats what i'd find scary. You'll be winning more but 10 years in will you look at the club as the newcastle you loved deep down or just some plastic PR machine you no longer identify with newcastle? It's not the same, but even our brief flirt with the top was enough to show me how a club can change for the worst due to money. Of course I still want to get back there, because that's competition. I want us to be the best we can...not at the price of a team of mbenzas though. Give me a team like we have now over that any day All the best though, geniunly like that club and if any clubs fans deserve a bit of success it's you lot. And i cant say how id feel if in your shoes

Instead of inviting unsuspecting victims to an Embassy to torture and murder them, the Saudis might now consider making them walk to the top of the away stand.

I would be delighted if some Saudis bought Town, then got in a huge name Manager, then bought anybody and everybody and then got promoted to the Premier League and started to win things. Basically if Town bought, that’s it bought with the stench of money, success. Not earned it, bought it. Who he hell would actually view this as success?. Like fuck I would. I would hate it and never darken Town’s door again. Them numbskulls up there seem to like it. What has become of football eh?. Really, what has become of any sport where money buying success is viewed as success?. Totally agree Morley. We are all in a privileged position of witnessing success - against all the odds. One of the lowest budgets and with a limited squad etc. I was so elated that I felt like I was on a different planet for weeks afterwards. I simply do not believe that you can experience such pure joy at achieving something when you have only achieved it by spending money. excellent. You've encapsulated my stand point on town that i couldn't do, i didnt realise what was. The time bad and good over the last 58 years with friends and family can not be replaced by 30 pieces of silver. ou've

Saw an article on BBC sport where Derby fans think Ashley is gonna take over them!!! Simon Jordan was saying on Talksport yesterday he reckons you could get Derby for less than 50M , stadium job lot. Be tempting for somebody that. I think it will cost a hell of a lot more than £50 million for Derby as all tax liabilities and footballing debts carry over to the new club and have to be paid in full (if not paid up by the administrator and I doubt there’s enough cash to pay these debts!).

I'm afraid that (self righteous) horse bolted many years ago. Anyone who is following England and their quest to win the World Cup next year is complicit in supporting a corrupt organisation (FIFA) holding a competition in a tiny, but rich ("what did you see in the millionaire Paul Daniels") state (Qatar) whose human rights abuse is legendary, category leading even. Still, we can sink a few beers and forget about all that stuff, hey?

Oh the irony. Barry Rubery promises to bring pots of money into Huddersfield Town, doesn’t think Jacko is the man to spend it so sacks him - and brings in Steve Bruce.

Have you never heard of Leeds,Millwall ect I'm with benhomly on this. Leeds and Millwall and others are always called out for their fans. Even back then Newcastle were held up as some sort of special fans when they were no better than rest, like benhomly the worst I've personally experienced. They probably caused more damage to our ground than any others.
