People moaning about this are just envious. About time another team upset the apple cart. Hope they win trophies because of it. But if it all goes tits up, only themselves to blame. Has no relevance to Huddersfield Town. Who cares if they are owned by the Saudi government? If Sheik Jassim buys Utd, he is the brother of the Qatari King. They are the government and own Qatar. Would that be wrong? Or because it is United would people turn a blind eye to it? If it was City, Liverpool etc, no1 would moan. City have bent rules since their takeover, had zero punishment so far. Envious? Ludicrous. City, Castle, Chelsea etc, would hate to be a fan, it's all fake, and spent obscene amounts of money, and for what? To whitewash regimes.

Staveley says they have invested £200m so far.
Obscene amount?, open to debate and not in the realms of Man City or Chelsea for example.
It will though rise to a shitload more.

I’ve always had a bit of a soft spot for Newcastle United and want them to do well but don’t want to be branded an advocate of Saudi regime/absolute monarchy. Is everything always black and white?

I know people will accuse me of jealousy or something like that, but that amount is pocket money to these people (literally). It would be nice to have that transaction explained, as these things can often be quite complicated. But if, on the face of it, this looks like £57m going into their P&L with some accounting funnies, the PL will do their usual robust due diligence and turn a blind eye…

If the PL don’t give a shit about executing kids then they aren’t gonna be bothered about a bit of creative accounting.

One of the weirdest matches I've ever seen, but happy enough with that. Would have been an absolute sickener if Pope didn't save that at the end, or they scored the rebound, and there'd have been a very nervous wait until Sunday.
Champions League returning to SJP after 20 years!

Happy for the fans of Newcastle, they're generally a good bunch and live and breathe football up there. I was at Uni nearby in Durham and met many sound Newcastle fans in my time living there.
As the aptly named great podcast called "not the top 20", I generally don't give a turd about premiership football other than watching leeds lose. But would be nice to have a rival (financially) to City going forward. Not saying Newcastle will win the league next season but if they stay on their upward trajectory with some investment they won't be too far off.

Champions League returning to SJP after 20 years! Its incredible to think the two teams we got promoted with, one is now in the Champions League, and whilst its unlikely ( but with the way things have panned out, probably they have the best chance v Man City tomorrow than at any other point this season, to take it to the final game), the other club with 2 games remaining still has a chance of being in Europe. WHERE DID IT ALL GO WRONG FOR US 😆 (I think we know the answer) However, you can bet with one eye on next seasons Championship, 90%+ of Town fans last night were hopeful of a Leicester victory, with the draw as a reasonable second best!!

It makes me laugh when people say look at Brighton or Bournemouth in comparison to Town. They've both spent shitloads of money that Town don't have. If Bournemouth hadn't gone up they'd have been fucked by FFP and Brighton are probably pretty similar. Plus they both have MUCH bigger catchment areas to grow their fanbase so can speculate more than we can with regards FFP. Which is why I've always maintained FFP has sod all to do with safeguarding clubs and everything to with maintaining the status quo.

Brighton may have spent a lot more than Town but unlike us they have spent wisely, almost every player they sign they sell on for a massive profit and still manage to improve year on year, there recruitment team have been outstanding over the last 7 years.

Yeah I think my main point was that they (and Bournemouth) have differing levels of initial investment, because their owners have/had more ready (burnable?) cash than DH. That they've invested well (rather than on ginger dwarves and speed twins) is a different topic and I'd definitely agree they (and Brentford) have spent wisely.
