For those that care - this is from the horses mouth: Otium is not in a good way, at all. Currently spending his days in bed and no longer having any treatment other than morphine to reduce the pain. Not eaten a proper meal since September and has lost a LOT of weight. He doesn't sleep much and he's now joyless.  He would like to thank everyone who's wished him well on here. He does read DATM still - just a shame he can't write this message himself. Thanks for the update. It was a truly abysmal performance by the admins to ban him for the reasons they did on so many levels. Plus shameful and cruel on an epic level knowing his health and the obvious distraction to that posting on DATM had become for him. Seems the bleeding hearts mentality doesnt cover everyone. If you read this oti, then best wishes to you fella. I agreed with a lot and disagreed with a fair amount of what you posted and this board has been a much duller place without your input. |

We are all human. Come out with some shit we don't mean or don't think about. It's an online forum, doesn't deserve banning, nothing does but serious abuse or bullying. If folk are being tits they should be told in any way, minus threats of violence I guess. Oti might have said some old school shit but he's well like I see. Admins need to have a heart and just take it on the chin, let him back and enjoy himself for what he has. I'd rather him be happy and here than not. |

Admins didn't like him unfortunately. The admins should hang their heads in shame. All the best Oti. I’d be shocked if Oti isn’t reinstated at some point today. With the amount of time he has left, the least he deserves is to enjoy himself on here for one last time. Even the people he majorly pissed off would, I assume, be fairly understanding. Best wishes Oti, many of us on the forum are thinking about
you, I hope the admins see fit and reinstate Oti to the forum,
he has been missed on the main board and off topic, Oti could
be controversial at times but no one could call him dull.
I loved his tales and miss his contribution to off topic .
Show some heart admins and let the man back on the forum.

Having discussed this morning the ban is now rescinded on the understanding that, sadly, Otium is nearing the end of his life. The admin team have agreed to lift this ban conditionally - any transgressions against the rules will result in an immediate reinstatement of the ban with no possibility of reversal. This decision was not taken lightly and our hope is it will not backfire, and that anyone who disagrees will understand the reasoning behind this move.
