Was it unanimous or did 2/3 agree 😉 All 3 should be apologising to him. Why ? - from his racist , homophobic posts I think Otium was the only reason for his ban. Or am I missing something here ? (my sympathys are with him as he nears end of life but that should not excuse his previous behaviour) |

If your offence level is very low, perhaps a democracy isn't for you??? You think we live in a democracy??? I am living in hope that the British public will finally decide that. Its hard to argue about brexit or sleaze etc when we handed over the very basic rights of freedom of movement and association. If you can always find a reason to remove the single most important freedom in a democracy then the rest simply tumble behind it. If we make one group non persons with those basic rights then the tumble has really begun. |

Registered around the time of the ban, never posted, and contains "otium" as part of the name. I may be wrong, of course. I think that you are. Glad to see that Otium has been reinstated. A correct and compassionate decision in the circumstances, although I understand the conditions set by the admins.
I only had two or three personal messages with Otium over the years, but I have to say I found him to be a gentleman who was generous, and prepared to help out if he could.
I fully appreciate that he could be very opinionated and controversial, but if you’re going to contribute to threads concerning politics, religion or ethics etc, then you’ve got to expect that. He very rarely resorted to abusive language, and when he ended up getting into arguments over an issue, all I will say is that it was usually with posters that are equally opinionated. It’s a two-way street.
Welcome back Ron, and a heartfelt hope that you enjoy posting again on here, and ALL THE VERY BEST.

From knowing who Oti is , to knowing lads who know him well , to knowing someone who has known him really well most of his life. I can honestly say that 99% of the unbelievable stories of his lifetime experiences are actually true.
Many of the tales he's told on here over the years have had me in stitches , and I've said before , an autobiography would have been a best seller.
A sad sad time for all who know him , and I wish him well.
Can still see that big beaming smile he had on his face in Wetherspoon's after the 3-0 thrashing of Crystal Palace away in 2017...
