Not read the whole thread so apologies if this point has been raised.
Has there been a goal we've conceded that you'd put down to him?
I can't think of one and that's surely one of the first measures of a keeper.
I don't think it's my memory going when i say I can't recall having more confidence in a keeper.
PS Lossl made some flashier saves (e.g. West Brom & (of course) Chelsea) but he never inspired the confidence Nicholls does (IMHO).

Not an argument, let alone a lazy one. Not lazy research. I've already said I was wrong to be underwhelmed. And I completely agree he's a superb keeper - why the agro? Lordy, take a day off to enjoy the win, rather than try to pick a fight on the Internet. You said im out. Im Loving the win. Im loving the season. Im Loving Lee. I don’t love ( and there’s loads of you) folk who dissed the club and player when we signed him asif he was some shite journey man who had to be rubbish. Chrissake. All I said was that I was slightly underwhelmed when we signed him, and I'm delighted to have been proven wrong. I never dissed him - not once - I just didn't expect him to be such a brilliant signing based on him coming from a league below. Doubt I'm on my own, there. I'll diss his former club all I want, though - because of who they are, and because they stole a place in the league. Seriously - sober up, stop picking fights, leave DATM alone until the morning.

Has anyone been on an MK Dons forum to see what they currently think? One that got away? Assuming we signed him cheaply? They tried to keep him but he turned down a new contract there. I wonder if he’d seen that YouTube clip of boxhead (or whatever he was called) outside the MK Dons a few yrs ago and thought “I fancy a bit of that”…

I wonder if he’s been treated for that eyelash that seemed to have stuck in his eyelid? 😁

Must say I was fairly underwhelmed by the signing of Nicholls as well.
I was very excited by the signing of a Belgian U21 international from Montpellier in 2018. And those lads we got from Monaco.
I know fuck all, me.

Bromby and Co have really nailed it this year and last. Hats off to them.

Even I, a deluded optimist, wondered what the heck we were doing signing a bench-warmer from MK Dons. (No "with respect to MK Dons" here - they're a joke of a club that has no right to exist - absolute scandal, that was) Rarely been so happy to be proved so very wrong. I never understand why folk don’t research when we sign players. It’s so easy. First thing I do Turbo, you may research, and many may not and come to a conclusion concerning a player and how good he is and his suitability to play for Town. It is strange that some supporters, despite supposedly having watched football for years blah blah..., haven't worked out that players they haven't heard of, or seen much of, may be good professionals, and/or have the capacity for improving.

He’s the modern day Bullock / Cowan for me.
Truly amazing.
And plucked MK Dons for free makes it even better.

Research? Different people will see different evidence. Or they'll see the same evidence that they'll interpret differently.
Anyway. As for a song -something simple. Like what Forest fans used to sing for Des Walker.
"You'll never beat Lee Nicholls"

I know fuck all, me. Wouldn’t be too hard on yourself, I think most were excited by those two because of their pedigree, even if you had doubts. I know I was excited about Mbenza even though I had doubts about his attitude(yes he openly showed a shit attitude as far back as then). Personally I’ve always been excited about new signings because it’s a chance for that player to become a legend at Town and for Town to write a new chapter. That’s why I get a bit excited when the transfer windows are open, it’s about the possibilities, the hope and the dreams with supporting your team. Back to the subject, great keeper and I hope we sort out a long term contract now we’ve found a proper number 1. Love his shithousery, he’s top top level at it.

Lössl was positioned in front of PL attackers every week, who would often carve through our defence at will. Would Nicholls look as good as he does now if he were in same position? I think both Lössl and Nicholls were/are excellent for us but it is hard to rate one as better than the other. Nicholls' positioning is outstanding at this level but would it look as good against players who can strike with greater power and accuracy?

Quote of Day goes to Steve Chicken talking of each Town player becoming more streetwise in winning games: "Nicholls is biggest timewaster since invention of call centres" and we love him for it!!

I think there's an element of what had happened previously to take into account. 3 years of utter dross, then we bring in a keeper from the reserves at a lower division club to go with the return of players who had either been here before & been somewhere between bang average & shite, or had been great, but then spent years being piss poor. Compare that with the signings of players from internationally renowned clubs (if you have any interest in football at all then you've heard of Borussia Dortmund, Monaco, Porto et al), "showing ambition" as you smash your transfer fee record over & over again around a season of promotion into the Premier League & then staying up - we were on a high, to the point of getting giddy. There's a phrase about never getting carried away with praise when things go well, nor letting criticism get to you too much when it doesn't.

That’s the beauty of football though, signing a gem from nowhere is always more rewarding than signing shite from a big club. The Jamie Vardy’s are the ones we all want, but if you aren’t looking around in the “underwhelming” world then how are you going to find the gem covered in shite. I had hope for Nichols purely based on he had good reviews from some MK Dons fans and his reason for being benched was not performance related. It wasn’t the same as when the Monaco fans were slating Diakhaby.

I think he’s much better than any of those. Two or three seasons like this and he’ll be a legend. Just need to keep hold of him which might be easier said than done.

Terry Poole, David Lawson, Andy Rankin are the top 3 Town keepers imo. Nicholls, Harper, Smithies, Vaesen nowhere near as good as them.

If we don't manage to go up (not saying I'm expecting us to) suspect there will be a circle of vultures forming, most clean sheets in the League - be a battle hanging on to him
