There was never. Beginning of this one. Pointless thread Yep, no point looking at the best player in the division below, one that looks like going for peanuts. [br Decent amount of peanuts that.£3mills worth.

TBF - they were always planning to throw a lot of money around this summer. One reason they replaced McCann with Arveladze - get a better "name". To put it another way, financially we - genuinely - probably can't compete with Hull.

Probably a replacement for Lewis-Potter who looks premier league bound.
Hull will be splashing the cash regardless this summer.

Hull always seem to be a few bad results away from implosion. Foreign owner investing big sums in an unfashionable club and appointing an inexperienced manager in the league; I’m sure there are examples of this going well but my gut feeling is that Hull will be mid-table at best.

They’ll flip Twine in a season or 2 and buy the next upcoming star that looks to have the pedigree. Brexit will see the premier league buying constantly from the championship.

It is yeh, however you still have to have that money available.Hull seem to now, although the great majority in the champ don’t(unless they sell) If Pipa goes whatever that amount maybe probably gets re invested and the same with Lewis just guess it’s all about timing. With Lewis especially we probably have some good looking targets however if his probable transfer drags on those targets may have already been picked up. Looks a very good player though and would suspect he goes higher, top end champ/bottom prem possibly.

Brexit will see the premier league buying constantly from the championship. They will sell him on for a profit if he does well. It’s not a foregone conclusion that he will. When signing young prospects, some will reach their potential and others won’t. For us, £3 million would mean we were well and truly putting all of our eggs in one basket. Whilst Twine had an incredible season last season, he’s played one season at League One level. I’d be excited if we signed him, but uneasy if we threw our entire budget at him. It’s worth remembering that only a couple of years ago, most on this forum were saying that we should push the boat out to sign Marcus Maddison from League One - he’s now playing for Spalding United.

No nothing ever is certain, every signing is a risk. The reality is we’ve bought some absolute dross in the past, where we forked out big dollars on players who had already displayed questionable attitudes. We panicked and wasted the best part of £20m on these players. When we have sold players, it’s been to pay off the owner who’s strangled the club because he wants to get his money back to then maximise the clubs sell on value. In essence, getting two bites at the pie while strangling our cash flow and investment. But that argument has been done.

Just to clarify, we are not signing a player we were never rumoured to be signing and had no interest in signing?

So if DH left the money to PH do you think DH would have being able to buy the club back?

Aye. If it was so blatant there'd be a huge queue and a bidding war. Edit - not suggesting Carlos was saying such.

Paying up for Twine is not the way we do business, we’ll be smarter than that. We take longer shots at success, paying a fraction of the cost to allow for failures.
Hopefully he’s taking all the focus away from our targets.
