Not a dig at you but I keep hearing we can get better for £1m than Sinani, yet noone says who. After his season with us, I bet Norwich would want considerably more than £1m without the agreement with us (if that is correct). I'm not sure what £1m buys you at the moment though so I may be wrong but I bet you wouldn't get Twine for £1m. I may be wrong but it is all about opinions. I hope that we will risk the money we do have on younger players that we can develop even if they cost more. Making note of the potential of the younger players that we can develop within our B Team, U19s et al... As for Sinani he's a late developer but still only 2 years older than Twine.

Call me cynical, and it may just be a one-off problem with my phone's resolution - but that pic of Harratt in a chicken suit looks photo-shopped to me.

Harratt has shown himself capable of playing at the top end of League 2 and performing in big games, scoring against Premier League opposition in the FA Cup and bagging the opener in their win in the playoff final at Wembley.
Next step could be determining whether he can do it a higher level, or it could be determining whether he can hack it as a first team regular - potentially at a lower level.
I'm inclined towards the former. He's still a teenager (just) and there is plenty of time for him to get used to the rigours of 50 games a season.
I accept that those at the club know far more than I do but I'd be disappointed if he was loaned anywhere below Lg1.

Harratt should be with us next season. If we can go for Adebayo from League 2 then why can't we give our own lad a chance?
If he has gone then I can only imagine we have someone lined up.

The walls of that changing room are hurting my eyes.
It’s a decent move. They should be pushing for promotion, he’d be playing under the tutorage of a pretty decent striker and he didn’t play every week for vale. Needs a season playing week in week out.

Do we know that the option is at £1m? If we ever know how much the option is then it would be easier to assess. At £2m I think you can start finding players who have the potential to be better, but every transfer is a risk. But IMO some players on a free are Jed Wallace, Luke Brooks and Tom Lawrence. Be better giving the 2 million and wages to Lawrence for me. I'd rather use it to give Toffolo and Nichols new contracts to ensure they are here longer.

The other thing with Harratt is that it could be a setup similar to Crichlow this season- loan him to L2 then if he's too good send him to L1 in January

Because of the World Cup break there are a lot of games in the 2nd half of the season. Also, because of his age Harratt wouldn't have to be included in the squad limits.

The start of June seems early to be announcing a loan deal.
I’d prefer Harratt has another loan in League 2 where he’s going to be first choice rather than bits and pieces in League 1. Game time is surely the best way he’s going to develop.

So the question is, with us being a week behind the rest and the season starting earlier this year, are we on with any incomings right now?
No names or clubs needed. Just something to excite us.
Maynard step up 😁😁
Please.

Didn't Matty Daly get completely frozen out at Bradford when Hughes came in?

Hi all, surprised as many others with regards Harratt signing as I first thought why wouldn't you want him to have a crack at L1, but having thought about it it makes perfect sense to build up his experience with another season in L2 rather than risking him to L1 too soon and potentially stalling his progression. On top of this he's on his doorstep surrounded with his family and at just 19yrs of age that's probably a huge boost for him, he should also gain huge experience playing in front of a large crowd every other week which should be a great help for him should he get a shot at your first team. and finally playing for someone like Mark Hughes can only be positive for any young player especially a forward. So lots of potential positives for both clubs in this move and if he is anywhere near as good as LOB then that be epic, as despite us being shocking overall when he was here he was always a class above everyone else on the pitch and left everything out there every game. As regards the Daly comment above unfortunately he's gash and miles behind L2 level, anyhow good luck for the upcoming season all the best.

You would imagine we are abit behind with recruitment considering we didn't know which league we would be in and now the head of recruitment has moved on. So I wouldn't expect many announcements until the last week of June at the earliest.
Should be an interting summer we need around 9 players just to get squad numbers up to this year's levels. Maybe 2 or 3 places could be solved from the academy, we also don't look like we really need squad players so a chance to provide real competition for first team places.
Best chance we have had to build something special for years. Only really one or two in the squad that haven't been a success yet, the rest of them I'd be happy if they were playing.

I’m sure we will have been speaking to agents and making sure we had both promotion and staying in the championship covered. We will also have all scouting covered for this window and targets identified so I don’t think it makes a difference that our head of recruitment isn’t here. We may see 1 come in within the next few weeks but most players are on holiday this time of year and most premierleague clubs usually wait until later in the window before loaning people out. I’m expecting Boyle to come in as the replacement for Sarr and then a starting striker and winger. Otherwise we may be just reacting if players leave.

Iirc Daly only played once under Mark Hughes. Seemingly did ok for Hartlepool but for whatever reason it didn't work out in the 2nd half of the season.
My gut feeling with him is that next season will be a case of just finding him a club where he can build a career for himself at a lower level. There are aspects to his game that are very good but there are huge gaps in his ability too, and in that sense he's like Scott High in reverse. I can't see him making it at Championship level so it's about looking after the lad. Maybe Hartlepool would want him back?

I think Harratt has got a great chance of having a very good career at championship level at the least. He's a natural finisher, Jordan Rhodes like to some extent, so as he starts to fill out and strengthen up over the next couple of years you will see a completely different player to the one Vale had this past 5 months. I'd be shocked if he doesn't hit double figures next season

Harratt loan makes perfect sense, I'm assuming we've insisted on some guaranteed game time, he needs to be playing regularly & City can't be as shit again as they have been for the last few years. Ideal scenario for me is Kian starts really well, gets double figures by the new year, then he moves to Vale in the third division. That would aid his career no end, I'm pretty sure he has a good future ahead of him & he should learn lots from Hughes.

I think we’ll do the full 5 quota of loans this season. Reasons being:
We built our 2017 promotion team on loanees; ward, Mooy, kachunga, palmer and brown. Hoyle like that model then so may like it again
You can loan quality we can’t afford to buy - especially in attack which is a focus
We have a good standing in terms of developing and looking after players, eg Tino approached us about a loan. We should manage to get top quality

I presume it's the loan fee, or wages contribution that we should have received whilst he was on loan. If so, it's probably been included in the accounts somewhere already, although obviously it will help the cashflow over the summer.
