Also the option of emergency loan if Nicholls is unavailable.

We have let 22 players leave, sold, loaned, released or returned to parent club. 11 of those were first team players. We have brought in 11 players, loaned out 1, 1 already rated not good enough, 2 injured, possibly 3(Helik), 1 concussion protocol, 1 can’t get into the team. The substitute bench is not going to look any better come Sunday. Time for the youngsters to shine.

As for comparisons to last years squad,, I dont see any great step backwards myself. Obviously Obrien and Toffolo are big losses but we have signed a lad who's played left back for Japan in Yuta, and Rudoni looks a real player to me.
The other players we've lost from last season? Colwill was good young player but you'd think this lad from Man City will be like for like really.
the rest of them? Dont think theres anyone im bothered about leaving.
We just need the players we kept from last seasons team back on form, because most of them are well off it. Its like Wembley scarred them mentally!

We've still got the lad from Mk Dons to come in when he's fit again in that centre of midfield. And I expect to see kamara get more opportunities as we go on . Chapmans our back up keeper isn't he? Im not sure Ive seen him play but we can't write him off as not good enough yet surely? We can write him off as not being back up for a while as he went to Salford today! Must be Bilokapic as back up now.... Did he? back up keeper is a problem. By the time a young player is good enough to get the gig, he needs to be playing to continue his development..and then he spends his time warming a seat on the bench all season. Hopefully chapman wont end up being back up keeper at Salford or thats a waste of time.

There are plenty of unemployed keepers we can still sign to sit on the bench. Does seems a little strange that Schofield has gone to sit on a different bench. Schofield needs a new club. Its a shame because apparently he's Town through and through, but as far as our fans are concerned he's a non starter now and always will be. And that pressure from the stands rules him out for us IMO.

Russell in a three plays well IMO
I’d go with
Nichols KKH Yuta Mbete (he’s not been loaned to sit on the bench) Helik (or Lees)
Hogg Rudoni Russell (or Kasumu)
Anjorin Thomas Ward

Hopefully chapman wont end up being back up keeper at Salford or thats a waste of time. Must admit, that's my worry. He's presumably got more chance of first team football there than here, but if he doesn't get it (and my understanding is that their first choice keeper is one of the better keepers at that level), then surely it would be better for his development for him to go to a different 4th tier club or maybe one in the fifth tier.

Let’s not forget Bilo has already made his debut. Both Aussie U21’s. It’s no change as far as I’m concerned. Good move for Chapman and good for Bilo stepping up. We’re really not short of highly rated young keepers further down if we really need to.

Anjorin Ward Thomas
Rudoni Hogg Kasumu
Yuta Mbete Helik KKH
,..... Nicholls
Subs: Bilokapic Pearson Turton Holmes Ruffels Jones Rhodes
Lees is a notable absentee from this list - could switch with Pearson depending on form. Other notable absentees are Aaron Rowe (disappointed that he didn't get a loan, hopefully he can get past whatever the current issue is because he could be a very good player), Connor Mahoney (strange situation with him, looks nowhere near the side) and Jon Russell (so good last year but the absence of O'Brien has exposed his limitations).
I'm still concerned about the left side.
I'm assuming (probably unfairly) that Mbete is in Colwill's league. If he isn't, then I'm even more concerned about our left side.

Imagine, had we not picked up a couple of these players due to their injury status, then a year later someone else gets them, they turn into superstars and our recruitment gets blasted. All hypothetical of course...
Didn't we sell Pilkington not long after he'd broken his leg, or recently returned from that injury?

I'd swap Simpson for Holmes on your subs bench. I know he's untried at this level, but his physique gives us something completely different up front to Ward or Rhodes, or even Jones & Thomas who've played there as well.

Possibly - and I get your point - but TBH I didn't see him as a particularly notable absentee from my squad. Not yet anyway. I took the question to be akin to "if you could a magic wand and make all injured players match fit, what's your squad for a match being played today?". Simpson is an unknown quantity (and TBF that in itself could make him a useful option off the bench), but my interpretation is that he's someone with a lot of potential, an appetite to learn and a high chance of achieving that potential, BUT currently VERY raw. Plus, he's been frozen out at Ipswich, so he'd likely be rusty even in Lg2 if he played today. Without seeing him it's difficult to have a lot of confidence in accepting or dismissing either your p.o.v. or mine though.

Centre midfield is truly horrendous. Tino can't do a midfield role either. I'd be playing up top or not at all. Russell looks fitter!

I recall the relegation season from league 1 where he played about 46 games and scored 6 goals, I thought he looked awful. The next season he was smashing them in at league 2 level and then by March he was scoring against Man Utd in the oremier league. To me if he has the ability that shouldn't stop him at all.

Probably because I’m fed up of accepting mediocrity after a very successful season. In fairness you are right though I see nothing positive about town at the moment so maybe best to keep stump as the saying goes.
