I’m nowhere near a happy clapper and certain things going on regarding recruitment is frustrating me too , however in our best championship finish in recent years our start was just as poor.
This time last season we only had one more point on the board after scraping a draw with a derby team with 6 pros and taking a dicking from Fulham.
The following game was Preston at home on a Tuesday night. The performance was turgid , the immediate reaction was pretty sceptical but that win built spirit back up .
I know it’s a different competition but let’s hope it’s the same outcome this week.
I truly believe this squad is strong enough for mid table champ , however a few loans would really pad out the depth. If we don’t manage to turn it around against Preston or stoke , we’ve some very tricky away fixtures the following week.
The start hasn’t been great , there are murmurings behind the scenes , but it was the same last year and look how we developed . Keep the faith, get behind the lads and see what this season holds!!!!

We had a covid outbreak at the start of last season meaning Nichols (top keeper in the league) and two now premier league players in lob and toffolo missed those games. Ruffels also had covid so Thomas played as a make shift left wing back
Of our four best players - three were out and one playing out of position
Sadly I’m not seeing any similar short term fixes that will change things ahead of some tough games

Can’t see us winning a game until September and that’s just dependant on if Blackpool are worse than us. Tragic

Kept their mid table side from last year (bowler, Anderson, Ekpiteta) and added 4 good loanees and also paid a fee to Brentford for a young fullback

There is no doubt that we are in an absolute mess. All the key players from last season gone and not replaced, our talented head coach has walked and we are hanging a club legend out to dry. DS has been set up to fail. Pathetic last couple of months behind the scenes.

Seeing that you have withdrawn your support, why not give the card to someone who may have an interest in going and who you might give a gift (or curse) for life?

Love the sentiment.....
...but last year at the end of August we had 10 points from 5 games.
The fixture list hasn't been kind given the negatives in pre-season (play off defeat hangover, loss of manager, loss of three quality players + loanees). Even with that backdrop the start has been disappointing
Would be surprised (but very happy) with 10 points at the end of August from 2 games more.
Wouldn't be that surprised with less than a point a game.

You cannot ask football fans to hold their horses. We are passionate, irrational and usually shoot from the hip.
I will do as I always do: chat shit on the here and now and then retract and admit I got it wrong further down the line.
This day to day moaning bollocks is sometimes the best bit about football.

The problem is we relied heavily on set pieces & goalkeeping excellence for many of our points last season.
It is not wise to think we can replicate over 20 set piece goals this season, that is an unusually high number. Plus we have lost the left footed option of Sinani's delivery & teams will be far more wary of us & know what to expect.
I'm not going to knock Nicholls, as he was truly superb last year, but he does not seem to have the same confidence as last year, so far, & I'm concerned as that may have been the best season he may ever have - bit like Smith & Kachunga in our promotion season. That being said, I certainly would not be surprised to see him lift himself again & I really hope he does, I think we are really going to need him this season.

With town I always keep the faith , after fifty odd years of watching town it comes naturally . But I'm struggling at this present time , with the players , the choice of manager, and also with the owner . I've no idea what the solution is though , maybe a combination of all three.. When I woke this morning my first thought was what to do today , when normally it would have been " Fucking hell , town lost last night" It's going to be a long hard season , which will most likely end in the usual nail biting finale.. KEEP THE FAITH

He was a key man who dug us out of the shit after admin/ 8 players. Rolled his sleeves up with the other young under uns and won promotion - holding his nerve to score a crucial penalty versus Lincoln. Played a big part in a side that finished 4th in league one Very good servant to the club

My fear is we’re potentially looking at another Siewart situation here, ie a young manager out of his depth, and if we wait til the end of September before addressing the situation, we’re almost certainly in for a constant season of struggle to avoid relegation. Next match is crucial for me, no significant improvement and it’s very much decision time by the board. If it is to be the death of a thousand knives, how does this affect Schofield and another possible go at some stage in the future? Concerning if not worrying times.

While I do understand those who try and find solace in the current situation by comparing it to last season, it's totally flawed thinking. They are two completely different sets of circumstances, it's not even worth trying to compare one players current performances to those of last season, because a players level of output will often wildly vary depending on what coach he is playing for.
All we are seeing is even further evidence of just what Corberan brought to the table, and why it was pure insanity, even from a business sense, to not back him.

I agree with the opening post. Although can’t see a similar table finish I do think we will be alright. We just look like a side lacking in confidence suffering from a hangover from the play offs and the subsequent events over the summer. We also have a new coach who is trying to put his stamp on things. One positive is that the window is open for a while ( even if it’s only loans and frees) and we have an opportunity to have another pre season in November to iron our issues!

Hold your horses is a good shout but the 'I want it now' lot won't want to listen.
They remind me of playground bullies seeking one victim after another and enjoying the 'likes' that their foul mouthed and personally abusive posts attract from like minded sheep. They are just desperate to feel accepted and part of the 'cool crew'. If only they could think for themselves and see what we have today compared to a decade ago.
All will be well but it won't happen overnight
