- David Wagner : “This Club is now in my heart”
As I leave Huddersfield Town, I want to say thank you.
From the very first day that Christoph and I arrived in Huddersfield in November 2015, you have made us feel like part of your group. Our families and I will always remember this.
Our children have grown up here for part of their lives and we all now consider ourselves true Huddersfield ‘folk’!
Together, we have achieved unbelievable things; we made the dream of Premier League football for Huddersfield Town a reality. That only happened because of this incredible togetherness that was unique to this Club and, again, I must thank you, the tremendous supporters of this Club, for making this possible. The bond between the players and the fans is something you had to experience to believe.
I’d also like to thank every player for their efforts on the pitch; ultimately, they are the ones who had to go out onto the grass and make this possible. They deserve all the credit they received.
Thanks also to every member of my technical staff and the staff behind-the-scenes at the Club. We have some superb people at Huddersfield Town who have played big, big roles in making our success possible.
My final thanks go to the Board of Directors, and Dean Hoyle in particular. In the same way that I took a chance on this Club, Huddersfield Town took a chance on me; one that has paid off in every way. I have a special relationship with Dean that transcends Chairman and Head Coach and he gave me every support he could. We will always be good friends.
I’m sad to be leaving, but I’m immensely proud of what we’ve achieved at Huddersfield Town. This Club is now in my heart and ultimately, I want what is best for its future. I will be supporting them from afar this weekend when Mark Hudson leads the team against Manchester City and I wish him, the staff, the players and you, the fans, all the luck in the world. I hope we see the true Terrier Spirit that we can all be proud of.
Thank you,
David Wagner
No pressure on Danny Schofield then 🤣

It's quite fitting that's WBA is the opposition. Remember when he was lined up to take over and their fans were massively up in arms about it? Look at how it's turned out for them since...They might look and think "look how it's turned out for him, we dodged a bullet there" You mean that they went up for a year after we were relegated as a laughing stock? And that they're above us again this year? I don't think that their fans will be regretting it for a second.

They went for Ismael from Barnsley instead. He lasted six months before they bought Bruce in.

'Better than Klopp' is a shoo-in to be sung. What about changing it to "a lot less whingey than Klopp" 🤔

Yes, it was Villa and Wolfsburg that chased him back in the day.

Anyone think Dean might be testing the waters, for if things don't pick up and Danny gets the boot Just thinking the same. All it does is increase the pressure on Schofield which seems harsh. Look at the responses on the tweet from town, every other response is asking for Wagner to be back in charge. it'll be nice for Wagner to be back and get the reception he deserved in person. But I think it's inconsiderate from Hoyle and there's no chance he didn't account for the possibility of this reaction from the fans. I'd be fuming if I were Schofield. Won't be his first time undermining a manager!

People getting slightly carried away, was meant to be guest last home game of last season. However, was unsure if I can make this game but this has swayed me if there’s even a slight chance of getting there I’ll be there to thank him for his service to us. DWBA He was all slated to come for the last game, just needed Dean's final approval, but he said to wait til he came back from holiday so Wagner went to come out at half time for Wolves instead

Last home game we had Warnock, next home game its Wagner. Wonder who the next "celebrity" manager will be brought back to undermine Danny Schofield. Bizarre!

Won't be his first time undermining a manager! I don't see it that way at all. Ex-players and ex-managers go back to old clubs as guests all the time. Danny Schofield has got the job - It's up to him and the players to perform.

Warnock and Wagner are there as guests - nothing more. If Hoyle asks Danny if it's ok if they "have a word with the players" - then you can say it's undermining. If they do an interview & watch the game from the stands like the rest of us then what's the issue?

In addition, his success was largely in part to the Army of Germans he was able to bring with him - great players all of them, is that avenue now removed following Brexit? Apart from internationals obviously Those who have worked here continuously since Brexit should be ok so he could re-sign Kachunga and Hef…

Some moaning about the great man turning up on Saturday.
Take it for what it is.
An opportunity for fans to say thanks for taking thousands of us on a journey that we never thought we would experience in our lifetime.
And might never again.

Sorry Junior - I should have made my viewpoint a little clearer. I am FULLY aware of swimmers, cyclists & long distance runners abusing the asthma medication protocols. Has that really transcended into top level football? I wouldn't be surprised but it doesn't offer the same % advantages as the above mentioned sports.

I've read that before and it's based on rumours. It's not credible. HOWEVER - I would be very surprised if football clubs don't abuse these loopholes. I posted a similar comment in a cycling thread not long ago.

I posted a similar comment in a cycling thread not long ago. Not credible? It's an interview with a Professor who tested the Liverpool team previously. He can't debunk the 70% claim, but does say it was 2-3x higher than the national average 10 years ago.

If he's prepared to say the same in a court of law then I'll respect him so much more.

Gutted to be missing not only Bully but now David as well. Please give them both the huge receptions they deserve on my behalf. I guess the pay off for me is I’m having a brilliant time in Florida

Anyone think Dean might be testing the waters, for if things don't pick up and Danny gets the boot Let's hope so, with Dean & family showing Mr 7 Mrs Wagner, the delights of Upper Hopton. Could it be the 2nd Coming of our Saviour, those were heady days - UTT.

We owe David Wagner a massive amount because of our promotion season, and first year in the Premier league.
Unfortunately I remember the second year there - the football, the results, the relegation, the lack of ideas, the alleged repetitive going to Dean Hoyle for more money etc.Everywhere else he's been he's had initial success for a short while, then left/sacked.
Thanks for the memories David and it will be nice to see you again, but never as our manager.

Deserves a superb reception befitting the brilliant job he did. Sadly cricketing commitments mean i will miss it - hope it goes well and we csn get a much needed result.

We're still chasing the high of that promotion season, still not felt a connection to a Town team like the one I had that year, to players & manager. Would happily have him back, but I reckon there is slim to no chance.
Will give him a big round of applause at the game though.

Looked into my crystal balls and I can confirm (in no particular order): Stan Ternant, Andy Ritchie, Mick Wadsworth & Lee Clark. Danny can breathe a bit easier following Wagner’s appearance after that.
