Don't ask me... It's happening though. Just wondered, it doesn't seem a forward step, for me anyway. Probably to do with money. Call me a cynic if you like.

Don't ask me... It's happening though. Just wondered, it doesn't seem a forward step, for me anyway. The money backing Stoke is huge if somebody can get them promoted. Each season outside is costing too much. Each bloke coming in thinks it can be him. Its called potential and a gravy train awaits..

Wagner is a Town legend that's for sure but anyone wanting him back has lost the plot. No Plan B, no idea at times, more so in the disastrous 2nd season. He'll be warmly received and rightly so but talk of having him back is a no no for me. Glad its not just me. Not only do I suspect he would be a disaster, it would undermine all the good times and memories.

Nobody hates schofield - they simply doubt his ability to do the job......and wagner has proved he can do it! I dont think he will come back....nor am i that bothered if he does or not - that ship sailed long since, however you cant blame fans wanting a return to some form of success and he achieved a unity historically which ive not seen in my lifetime before or since. Agree re supporting the team and DS tmoro though.

I wasn't going to attend today but have decided to purely to show my appreciation to DW.
It's nice to get the opportunity as we didn't when he left.

Really torn on this one..
King David took me to places I never dreamed I’d visit..
45 years of pain and dissatisfaction watching town was swept away by the incredible achievement of those 2016-2018 years ..
Let nobody be under any illusions- his charisma and drive made it happen..
And I would foooooookin love it if he becomes our manager next week..
But..
I’m worried it probably wouldn’t work again—it was a moment in time..
And failure now would sully those memories..
Always a terrier..
Legend..

Love the bloke but that was then, this is now I’m a believer that the vast majority of success in football outside the big spenders is largely down to luck. A time and a place. Like you say, the stars aligned. What DW achieved with very few additions was way beyond my wildest dreams and gave me and my two girls memories to last our lifetime. But what has he really done since? Would he possibly repeat his first stint?? I think not. But will always love the bloke for what he did for our club. An absolute legend in my eyes. UTT

He failed in the second premier season. The club failed along with him. Definite lift for the club now but wether it lasts or works at all, I wouldnt, couldnt even speculate.

Part of me would love David to come back as manager/ head coach but the sensible side to me says very rarely does going back for a second stint work out. I’d hate for his legacy to be tainted if he came back and it just didn’t work. I will give him a huge round of applause today to show my appreciation of what he did for my club. It was the impossible dream. I also think Danny should be given a fair crack. It would be very unfair for it to be taken away from him after very few games.

Extraordinary man who achieved extraordinary things
To win 24 out of 25 matches in the premier league promotion season by 1 goal - incredible. Sum better than its parts. What a team. He got the absolute maximum out of every squad he had at his disposal

Re Schofield this season will be incredibly difficult
As I said throughout last season that was the easiest opportunity of promotion we’ll see and if we failed we wouldn’t get a better chance - it was in a weak league, 25% teams on minus points / transfer embargo, a great depth in our squad post Xmas, 3 / 4 players who would have got in any championship team (3 now in premier league) available to us - unfortunately Carlos bottled it when it mattered (& officials)
Whoever was to pick up the hangover from that shambles, made worse by Carlos sticking his fingers up at the fans 3 weeks before the season started, short pre season vs others, losing 3 of our best players and a stronger league - hiding to nothing
Schofield pushed in deep end - transition season ahead & Carlos’ first season has to be benchmark
But obviously Wagner better placed. Separate point altogether

Definite lift for the club now but wether it lasts or works at all, I wouldnt, couldnt even speculate. the whole thing fell apart. expensive and misfit signings, Dean getting ill, Wagner touting himself around for other jobs (allegedly).
The perfect storm. A club imploding.
If (and this would I think be a massive IF) someone at the club has approached Wagner, it could be a massive mistake.

I disagree, yes things went sour but that wasn't just Wagner. The players we brought in were mercenaries who were utterly garbage. You can't blame Wagner for Kongolo going from Van Dijk to Trotman in the space of a season. Wagner also wasn't to blame for Dean getting ill. What he was responsible for was the togetherness, the team spirit and the no limits attitude in our promotion season. I would kill for that atmosphere again.

Carlos had three assistants. Him and one of them left. Danny and one stayed. Then another assistant was added. Now Wagner returns, has three assistants, and a few days to sign some Germans

Promotion was a truly amazing achievement. Staying up was off the chart. That season seems more extraordinary with every passing year. Seeing us top (very briefly) beating Man U and drawing away with City and Chelsea. Brilliant.
