Hi Admin - just a request for which I assume I'll get hammered.
I go on the "David Wagner" thread every day in a rather pathetic attempt to see if there's any news, or even opinions, about his possible return.
All we've had for a long time is a group of posters trying to show the rest of us how knowledgeable, or funny, they can be about curry or curry houses.There's even some apparent machismo thrown in on occasions.
I'm sure several people find this hilarious but it's bloody frustrating when the rest of us are trying to access the board for football news.
By all means put this subject in "off-topic" or even give it a separate thread but why allow it to mess up a genuine thread ? I know there's no concrete news about our next manager but it does get a bit tiresome having to wade through people's opinions or ego-trips about curry.
Cue the children coming up with curry-related posts.

No threads should ever go off on a tangent..
And nobody should ever be allowed to post any puns..
Or anything remotely humorous..
In case it offends people..
Or slows down their attempts to get to inside information..
From people who’ve no idea what they are talking about..
Please sort it out admins..

The larger issue is there is no news. Nature, so I am told, abhors a vacuum, and social media seems to be the same. The problem for me is all the curry posts push the thread to the top of the list so I think something is happening. It doesn't take long to realise that the only thing happening is a bunch of people debating the merits of various curry restaurants. As I already have my own favourite, Prashads in Drighlington, I am unmoved.  |

We might be waiting some time for a third apology from the poster who supplied several paragraphs explaining why the mini-budget was not in fact a 'suicide note' but was just what this country has been crying out for. |

If we were to try and regiment the board with an iron fist there would be far more complaints of too much admin interference. You can never please all of the people all of the time. Sorry.

Thanks for the reply admin - and I totally accept you can't please all the people all the time. I was NOT in any way suggesting people "kept their counsel", or didn't post their views, or didn't discuss politics, or curry,or puns, or any topic they wanted to - I have no more right than anybody else to say what people can or cannot post. ALL I was politely suggesting was that perhaps they had their own thread on curry or politics or whatever.so we could then decide whether we wanted to read that particular thread or not. |

Generally I'd agree, I get especially fed up of the pun threads...but its international break and there's no news, if there was it would be easy to find.
At least there were some interesting recommendations in there. Any thread that descends into tedious puns should be locked and bans handed out IMO

As I already have my own favourite, Prashads in Drighlington, I am unmoved. Is that the vegetarian restaurant that featured (finished 2nd I recall) on Gordon Ramsey’s Best Restaurant many years ago? My wife and I went not long after the show aired and had a delicious meal. The staff were great too. Something tells me they’ve moved since we were there but I could easily have made that up. |
