Quotes from Fotheringham after he stood in for Magath last season when he tested positive for covid:
"Sir Alex Ferguson once said we play 4-4-2 but with a diamond or 4-3-3. Look, I’m working for one of the best known coaches in world football. I’m not concentrating on tactics - I don’t care about that. "I focus purely on my task, on the pitch day in day out. Tactics don’t interest me, that’s just how it is. The lads gelled well with us & there was good distance between the defence and the first line & there were no spaces to play in between them. That’s how it was."
Not a fan of tactics. Sounds encouraging...

If we are going down this route. Why don’t we just appoint Westie. He’s already got all the training gear.

Carrick, Ferguson, Hughton, Dyche and even Corberan. That enough for you? Dyche and Corberan are not options. Neither would come to us. Carrick and Ferguson have never been a head coach. They would do better than someone who got us promoted out of this league? Hughton hasn’t exactly done well in his last few championship jobs.

Could work out, but that is Siewert, Schofield and now this guy as the last three managers under Hoyle. Punt after punt after punt, none of them had ever managed a first team before taking on a Championship club. Neither had the coach before them

Sounds like a Bromby appointment, someone who will work under his model with no challenge to protect his own position.

Massive massive risk if true. Anything like a bad start and he will be toast and god help Bromby too.

Carrick, Ferguson, Hughton, Dyche and even Corberan. That enough for you? I'd support any of them, but I think that you'll find that they've all been written off by DATM. Seriously, every single one of them is not good enough.....

Maybe alright when you’ve got one of the better squads in a league, but we’ve all seen how it worked out for him elsewhere once he didn’t.

Sounds encouraging... wow, a post-tactics visionary! to quote another good manager, Julian Nagelsmann once said football management is 30% tactics, 70% social competence. He said this shortly after taking over at Hoffenheim aged 28, his first manager role. His career since has been very impressive. I wouldn't even hire 28 year old Nagelsmann for us right now. We need someone the players will be completely certain about from the get go.

So, I was talking to someone today who is very, very, 'in the know'. I obviously asked them if they knew who our new manager was going to be. No reply apart from a smile. I then asked if their name was the same as mine. An even bigger grin. PS - My name's not Mark.

someone on twitter suggesting he could be coming in as an assistant manager Yeah that's likely. We're massive enough to tempt him to swap a role at a big German side for the same one at Huddersfield Town

I’ve heard Fotheringham is coming in as ‘First Team Coach’, with someone else as boss. Would fit the previous Wagner regime, where Andy Hughes was filling this position.

Anyone else picturing Bromby at the airport bar, disconsolate, drowning his sorrows after failing to convince Wagner to come back.
A bloke pulls up a stool next to him and engages in small talk.
‘I’m a football coach, actually. Can you remember a bloke called Felix Magath? I once sat near him in a dugout’.
‘Tell you what mate, it’s your lucky day. How d’ya fancy a job? I’m buggered if I have a proper clue so you’re gonna be as good as anyone.’
‘Aye, why not!’
‘Eh! Say jawohl, not aye, it’ll look better if we reckon you’re more German than Scottish’.
