I’m not rich but I’ll be quite a bit better off after Kwarteng has had his ideological fun. It stinks. I’m getting by ok as things are whilst kids go without meals and sit in freezing cold houses.
The welfare state used to be the safety net of the masses. Now they are forced to rely on charity.
Meanwhile Truss’s chief of staff isn’t even a public servant - he’s a lobbyist whose entire salary is paid by a special interest group to push the right wing, libertarian agenda from within. He’s also currently under investigation by the FBI for blackmail.
As for the Chancellor, I’m sure this is just a coincidence:
Now, I think I’m pretty free of any strong ideology, I just don’t like folk profiting off the misery of others. That is what those running the country are doing (every cabinet minister will personally benefit from the scrapping of the top tax bracket).
Nor do I have time for those who fawn over them rather than sticking up for those suffering within our communities.
Hurry up Dave, I’d much rather talk Town than politics.

It was and should be, the Tory hatred on this site is absolutely pathetic. No matter what they do the Leftie proletariat will slag it all off, without having a single answer. Not that long ago the Tories were accused of "austerity programmes" now they're accused of profligacy. Am I surprised that, what once was a liberal democratic Town, (hence the Examiner orange logo) is now and has been longer than any other elected area, a socialist/communist hot spot that hates anything to do with the Conservative party. ( The same party that doubled the personal tax allowance in five years, that when they took power Labour had at around 6.5k increasing by a pittance each year) I await the abuse, without a single explanation as to how the Labour lefties can move from one extreme to another so easily. ( And of course, get out into the villages, and they vote Tory, and that's inclusive of the fact that they're part of the Dewsbury Ward, with more Labour voters of a certain religion than even Huddersfield) Austerity is continuing for ordinary folk. The Tories are increasing borrowing by a staggering £400 billion and most of it is going to the well off. The market's decided the UK can't afford the massive borrowing. Sterling has collapsed, stocks are falling and interest rates will have to rise higher and higher. The huge increase in mortgages will more than wipe out any small reduction in tax for people. The weakness of the pound will also increase the cost of imports so the cost of living will keep going up. Good post. May I suggest those of a similar thinking register with the group "enough is enough"

You know it's taking too long to appoint a manager when DATM goes from arguing about the best Madras to the merits of Maggie Thatcher in 4 pages.
Fucks sake Town - get on with it.

Apologies for quoting Teddington in full. I’m too tired to cut, paste, make a hash of it. 2. Yes I shouldn’t add to this discussion but I can’t help it because if I see any more posts detailing (maybe rightly or wrongly, who knows) how far the pigs snouts are in the trough, I’m going to tear my own face off. Suffice to say inequality, families suffering, and kids going hungry whilst these…..🤔…..people in government continue this course of action make me want to scream. It’s abhorrent. This is a first world, rich country. No-one should be without in this day and age. We are not living in Dickensian times, or shouldn’t be. Rant fucking over.

The only reason the Tories have done this budget is to attempt to stay in power at the next election. They know that the country is in the shit and this is a last gasp try to retain their heartland support.
Personally I’ve voted every way in the past, as I think any democracy needs a balance of doctorine in its leadership to be effective.
Despite personally doing ok under the Tory government, it’s clear to me that it’s time for a change of approach, the country needs some longer term planning and spending on infrastructure particularly transport and healthcare.

Problem is we need something between what we have now and what we had under labour.
The welfare state we had was ridiculous. Sponging bastards left right and centre.
We've now gone completely the other way.
As a civilisation we should all be expected to contribute.
There should never be getting something for nothing irrespective of whether you're under privileged at the bottom or uber privileged at the top.

The UK couldn't have screwed itself any more over the past 6 years if it had (openly) tried.
If we seen this sort of behaviour in some African or South American country we'd be calling it out for the obvious corruption that it is. Here though, nothing.

The French would shut the country down. Mass strikes left right and centre. Price of fuel hits €2.00 per litre they arrange blockades. Price hits £2.00 here we fucking queue for it. We are mere sheep in this state of control by those in power and we do nothing to try and inflict change. What is happening in this world with energy companies coining it in is scandalous. Despite personally doing ok under the Tory government, it’s clear to me that it’s time for a change of approach, the country needs some longer term planning and spending on infrastructure particularly transport and healthcare. It's just populist policies to try and make her (Truss) appeal and popular to the electorate. The only people that benefit from tax cuts in large cash terms are high earners, what would have been better is to increase the personal allowance, cut basic NI but leave the higher NI after £4189 at 3.25% instead of reducing it back to 2%, then some of the high earners would pay more than lower earners but they've just reverted to type. Britain's political landscape needs a huge shake up, quickly. To be honest I'm not even sure I can bring myself to vote in the next election, personally I think it'll be a hung parliament. The Tories will lose the seats they took off Labour in hard-core red areas but it won't be enough, the Lib Dems will take some marginal Tory seats but, again, it won't be enough to prevent a hung parliament and a power share. Unfortunately, this country is a total cess pit.

Schalke - he won 12 lost 16. The two managers after him both lasted 11 games each before sacked, they won 2 and lost 14 in total between them BSC Young Boys - league disappointing. They qualified for Champions League having got through qualifying only second time in their history. Got their best ever result in champions league Oh I stand corrected. What a brilliant record. Started Schalke on a record run without a win and took a team that'd won the league 4 years on the trot to a finish 15 points behind the winners. But none of that matters cos he beat Utd again 🙄 Who would be your choice and what is their record ?

How and why do we let this happen? Fuel? can you blame them?
Clueless UK governments go totally wacko and state they'll go carbon neutral within 8 years meaning people have to buy electric cars and diesel cars are banned. They like money and figure they'll get as much money as they can before the gravy train ends. That's business.
As for the Energy companies, they have to buy at elevated prices because of the same reasons. The Green Levy adds to all our bills so the Energy companies are basically getting paid with our money to develop green energy. Our bills would be 40% cheaper without the green levy and VAT on fuel.
