Is anyone able to explain what the current situation with the stadium is? Or what the club's plan is going forward?

Am I right in thinking PH was trying to take full control of the stadium into Town's hands?

I saw someone else mention on the other thread about Dean and ownership of the stadium...

Dean decided it wouldn't be in the club's interest to do that.

Town need to own the stadium outright and put the KSDL experiment to bed.

Not sure how we'd fund it though, but I'd expect any new owner would want to maximise income from it. It needs £9m of repairs just to bring it up to speed!

Slightly off the topic but it’s named stadium so I thought I’d use it ! - About 45 minutes ago while out in the workshop breaking a drawer full of sticks for the fire (It’s a West Island thing) - I heard them saying on Radio 2 that a lassie from Huddersfield was coming on next... so the chopping stopped as my nose was getting the better of me...

The Huddersfield lady called Vicky Brooks spoke extremely well about the town and gave HUDDERSFIELD TOWN a mention in that she stated that it was the stadium of our club as the hapless presenter lassie asked her did concerts like REM still take place in that ‘concert hall’ The McAlpine Arena !

Probably the presenter is some bird from London that hasn’t a clue where Huddersfield even is...

But well done to Vicky who spoke well of Huddersfield, here concert memories, her family being Town fans - and all in that lovely Yorkshire accent of hers -

Got ma appetite whetted for hearing it once again v either The Blackburn Rovers or The Sheffield United clash in April !

I've never understood that percentage of stadium filled angle. in the mid 70s Leeds Road capacity was still 52,000 and we used to get 3000. So what?

We were on about this in the boozer the other day, 

Surely KSDL employed a couple of lads with working at heights tickets to constantly keep up with painting the steelworks ! A bit like the Forth Bridge, by the time you have finished, it is time to start again, But no they dont and never have, And how the hell does it require so much brass spending on it as i thought we blew 5M doing upgrades when we were promoted to the top flight.

I believe the upgrades were for TV in the main, the physical infrastructure side of things will still fall under KSDL I’d have thought.

Did a stadium tour last summer and was told a new pitch was needed fairly imminently at a cost of around £1/2m. God knows what the other £8 1/2m is needed for. Maybe a fair bit is to improve access areas for large crowds attending concerts considering all the uproar caused at the Green Day concert last year

Suggests it might be something structural.
Town spent about £5m on it to make it PL ready back in 2017 so it cant be to do with that kind of thing.

On the face of it, it certainly needs a lick of paint and a clean.

Im not sure but all 4 floodlight bases need updating and treating, the 4 arches probably need new coating, some of the seats need replacing, the toilets will need renovating soon, the turnstiles need modernising for barcode ticketing, no doubt the hospitality suites will need constant work, the stadium roofs will need another powder coat…it’s a long list and all costly work.

This "£9m to bring it up to scratch" is a bit of a misnomer.

What has been declared is £8-£10m worth of capex OVER THE NEXT 10 years - with the bulk of that needing to be committed within the early 5 years.

£1m spend per year to get the stadium up to a state where it doesnt need significant investment for the following 15-20 years seems like not very much...the current issue of course being that as things stand KSDL are losing £600k a year WITHOUT committing that spend.

Machinery, generators, boilers, repairs and maintenance. The energy efficiency rating of the stadium is one of the lowest you can get.

Hasn't it been used this season, when there was a special offer on?
And is it open for the egg checkers?

Kilner Bank turnstiles work with barcodes. I use my phone with the QR code with no issues.
