Similar to Rhodes with penalties, natural finisher but was historically woeful from the spot. Don't remember him being woeful, just remember him never seemingly stepping up for them. Just checked an apparently he’s scored 20, missed 7…maybe not woeful.

Most of those he's missed are earlier in his career. I think him being an instinctive, natural finisher meant that when he had the time to think about where he was putting the ball he was more likely to miss. As he's matured, he's panicked less when given time to think.

I preferred him on corners to Mooy if I'm honest. In keeping with the narrative of the thread, he's a poisonous little shit . For all Mooy's fantastic abilities, he really wasn't very good at corners. Disagree with this You don’t take them for every club / country if you’re not very good at them The point is we often asked him to play the corner to that near post area where stats show 1. Better quality chances created 2. Harder to execute - mainly as a team have one or two first men (6 yard box / often first marker) It’s a fine margin to get it just right which is why so many get cut out If we’d asked him to take Pritchard’s corners (which I recall maybe incorrectly as being more ‘floaters’ than near post - his corners not a personal dig) I’m sure they’d have been more accurate!

Think he then missed one in the 7-1 win against Brighton not long after as well. After that I don't think he took one for us for a couple of years.

To me it was clearly an instruction to hit the near post area as at international level he often took excellent corners to the middle and far post. It helped having Tim Cahill to drop them onto but he was an excellent corner taker for Australia.

I don't remember him missing one in that game, the pen we got, SuperNovak won it and scored it for his first ever league goal.

Remember he wasn't in the first five in the Sheff Utd shootout, and didn't take one for Massive in 2017... which made the one he took for us and scored in the League Cup first round at Hillsborough a couple of years ago that little bit sweeter!

Yeah Novak scored a penalty in the first half, but Rhodes missed one in the 2nd. Mentioned in this report news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_2/8205231.stm

Not really ingratiating himself with the locals around South Bermondsey.
