Ive not been impressed with him and always thought he looked to be playing a division above where his talent warranted.
that said he was much better under NW and at times did some pretty outstanding stuff ( thinking of a couple of goals he scored last season )
Got to trust the boss on this one. A player he likes, you know what you'll get and presumably not that expensive. By all accounts hes a good lad to have in the dressing room too and is really popular.
Doubt hell be first choice everyones fit but as a back up then its a signing that makes sense.

How good is Headley? If the club think he’s first choice left back, this makes total sense, who else is going to sign to be second choice better than Josh.
If Headley turns out to be turd, we’re stuck with 3 average left sided defenders.

Both ward and ruffles would have been binned of if our new owners had any sort of ambition.

Think people need to realign their expectations on this takeover. The average wage in the USL is £60k per year. Our top earners will be on 60k a month, very happy with how Nagle comes across as a person so far however I don't expect much to change in the way we do our business. Ruffles will be absolutely fine for this year Warnock said in an interview at one point he was as good a left back as he has had in the Championship. Enjoy this year with Neil in charge, he will get the best out of everyone and hopefully lead to a relatively successful season. I do fear though if we are giving these players (Ward, Ruffles etc) multiple year extensions if whoever takes over from Neil can get anywhere near the same output. our top earner is nowhere near 60k a month. Think it is rhoades on around 12 correct me if I’m wrong

As someone else posted, he can play LB, LWB, LCB and in midfield. He might not be a world beater in any but he can do a job for a few games, if needed. He could barely play at left-back during his two years at the club, and now we're saying he's a left-back, left-wing-back, centre-half and a midfielder? Next they'll be saying he's not just a new signing, but four new signings...

Low-risk, reliable squad player and as been said, can play in multiple positions. Makes sense Can he? He *can* if needed. We have to be smart with the squad, because we can't stock up on a tonne of first-team players in every position. It's too expensive and players would be unhappy sat on the bench. So when it comes to busy winter period and Ruffels is stepping into a LCB role, or CM for the last 10 mins of a game, I don't think that's too bad an alternative

Both ward and ruffles would have been binned of if our new owners had any sort of ambition. Unfortunately our new owner doesn't know the English game and his backroom staff are barely through the door. 2-year deals across the board makes sense. It'll probably be a dull season ahead but most of us would take anything above 18th. Let's see how things look this time next year.

He's happy with Ruffles and says he can cover multiple positions.

I know, but you'd think he was the second coming of Maradona judging by comments on here. nowt wrong with getting a bit carried away when a player is doing well, we're fans not objective observers Has anyone got carried away with the potential signing of Josh Ruffels? Most positive I've seen is people (me included) saying he's a sensible low cost option that allows us to put more of our budget elsewhere.

I have to agree with every single thing Warnock says, do I?

If you go on at work like you do on here, it's a wonder you haven't been 😁 I'm not surrounded by idiots at work. Maybe your colleagues feel like they work with one though.

I think there’s a decent attack minded left back in there. It’s just about getting him to a level of consistency that we need and NW/RJ should be the guys for that. IIRC he played a blinder in the FA Cup game at Burnley and didn’t he score a peach of a (slightly lucky with the rebounds) solo goal towards the end of last season? I’m happy we’ve retained him.

Interesting one Ruffels. He was undoubtedly bad for much of last season (but then so was Koroma). I think it gets partly forgotten that when he signed he had a better pedigree than Turton, and actually in his very limited appearances in 21/22 he did pretty well - being selected ahead of Toffolo on a couple of occasions.
I don't have any huge issue with this, I'd hope he's not going to play every game, but a resonable squad player, certainly at the level Warnock got out of him. Think if he'd been retained in May there wouldn't be much fuss about it.

Depends how long JR gets, Wardy and JK have got 2 years so that's only one left after Colin leaves. Also 2 years. Makes sense to me, TBF.

Just read on the official site that Josh Ruffels became the 1,000th player to play for Town. I’ve seen 550 of them play for Town. Today’s miscellaneous fact! Saw this the other day for the first time ever and noticed Ruffells was the last name - but they seem to have ran out of stickers and not bothered with last years team!?

Are we re-signing players like Ruffels because Warnock likes experienced players and there are two more places available on the bench next season?

If we go 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 then I think Headley is a great shout for Left Wing back (with Thomas as right wing back) If we play a flat back four I'd expect Yuta or Ruffells to be left back
