Good day all. As we try to recover from the excess of Christmas and the jubilation of a rare three points at Deepdale, I thought I would share with you some interesting facts as we approach a monumental marker in DATMs rich history. The current total post count stands at 2,975,304 (including this one). This means that some lucky person is going to make DATM history by making the three millionth post. The site generates about 300 posts a day so it will be some time in the New Year. The first post made by the site creator and 1st member - Geoff, geoffhudds- was made on the 4th of December 2007. You will be pleased to know, that although he hasn't posted much in the last 15 years, Geoff still is an active member and recently signed on this month. The second ever member was ossett1terrier another non prolific poster, having managed just 160, but I am pleased to say is also a frequent visitor. In the bronze medal place is SN0W who signed up just 42 minutes after Geoff - still a top contributor about to hit the 20,000 post mark. Today there are 16,519 registered members, although 572 have an account but have never logged on or posted, which means active members stand at 15,947. Between us we have started 102,560 Threads....no wonder the admins get touchy about meaningless thread creation. I haven't checked, but I suspect a lot of them are still there for you to go back and bump one day. The top three posters are Chips Longhorn - 58,201 ( and contrary to popular belief is not banned) Captainslapper - 38,289 Porrohman - 37,704 I will do my best to identify the lucky poster, you can consider yourself a GTF equivalent in Town history. In the meantime, a Happy New Year to you all and here's hoping for 3 points on Thursday. keithAM11532 Wingman overtonterrierspirit

I really need to take a look at my life! Was 2007 when DATM started or when Geoff moved DATM off a different hosting format onto this current one ( pro boards) I might be totally wrong there, but I have it in the back of my head that happened at some point. Sure I was on here before 2007 but I might be imagining that.

Remember being on Geoffs old Rivals site in the early 2000's for our relegation season and promotion season from division 3

Don’t remember Cristiano?
Didn’t one of them set up an account called Townrbest or summat and take the piss?
Last laugh on them being in the wilderness for over a decade🤣

All I’d say is there are many, many people out there with far too much time on their hands posting absolute pap. Wonder how many are retired, how many are pen pushers sat in front of a screen posting on datm all day every day when they should be doing what they’re paid to do? A lot I’d wager.

The "Official longest thread attempt" kicked off 3 March 2008, at 8.29pm.
And the bloody thing is still trundling along! I don't know whether it is an attempt to set a DATM record, or whether it was angling for a world record. But it gives a whole new meaning to the word 'boring'....still, each to their own.

I recall spending many hours in a university computer room back in 1998 on Geoff’s old rivals site.
I guess it was a sign of the newness of it all that everyone was far more pleasant to each other back then. We hadn’t cottoned on that that we could anonymously call each other cards for disagreeing on Thomas Heary’s best position.

If there’s a bottle of 🥃 malt whisky 🥃 being presented for post No. 3,000,000 then I might have to spend all day and / or night on our wonderful DATM nearer the time ! 🤪

Congrats to the wonderful DATM, posters and crew. I wouldn't want to share my shit with anyone else. Hall of shame. A couple of things to note. I too, joined around 07/08 and racked up 3,000 posts or so under a previous name (possibly Soul Man or something like that). I'd say there are quite a few who have racked up the posts but under different names. Ben, for one and Dig1, for another will both have at least 25,000 posts. I've met them both. Both tossers joking Terrierdaz obviously doctored his own post count because he could. He also doctored portugalterrier's post count because portugalterrier was calling me a sad ******** in the match thread for having a lot of posts. So Daz just edited his post count to one more than mine (which was quite funny). Obvious love and respect to otium in there. Wish I'd returned earlier to say goodbye. Both myself and Slapps have been banned by the same certain ex-admin for fuck all. I did wonder if he had a touch of post count jealousy. My 1 month ban mysteriously continued for 13 months before I emailed Ted to ask him if he could sort me getting back on. I had multiple bans for very little by an admin who has since passed away. When I asked him why, he said because it was 'like shooting fish in a barrel'. His very own words. I believe he was a doctor by profession too. I was even banned by the Sheriff of fecking Huddersfield for god's sake. Worth mentioning, I don't think the forum has ever been in as good hands as it is right now. A big part in my returning.

Think a few have flamed their accounts to make post counts not massively accurate! Whilst this is undoubtedly a Geoff continuity board, I'm sure Bolton Terrier and Bradford Based Blue (bbb) were very important in the early days in terms of getting things working as they should in an IT and user experience way. Deleting of the politics board was a particular low point in the site's history. But, I have to agree, I think it's being run better than ever; an excellent mix of admins. Here's to the next 15 years (where does the time go)!

Wow, I recall posting on the old Rivals board when at Uni at the turn of the century. Good to hear Geoff is still lurking. 👍🏼
Maybe we should have a wee competition as to who the 3,000,000th poster will be. My money is on Ted Chips coming back with a bang!

I wasn't much of a contributor myself but it was an entertaining read and valuable for the Millbridge crew organising travel and whatnot. Great set of lads. And it got funny in there.

I think it was someone suggesting I was out of my depth on the OT & P board that made me reincarnate myself as someone who didn’t struggle with depth… Some great stats in the OP. We’ve also sadly lost a fair few good ‘uns over the years on here, but they’ve all been sent off by DATM with a lot of respect…
