Turgid shit?! Wow. Id love to know which seasons you really enjoyed our free flowing goals aplenty allied to scintillating success on the pitch. 1979 80 1980 81 1982 83 In what is now leagues 1 and 2 and over 40 years ago now. 3 yrs in 40+ - surprised you still bother! They were my first 3 seasons watching as a kid.......80/81 wasnt a success though. We missed out!

It was heart breaking. But I went to more matches than any other season.Football specials, away matches with mates, some cracking memories, Rankins late penalty save at Millmoor, Cabbage doing the train horn as we pulled into Barnsley Station, beating Sheff U at home, 5 past Hull, loads of local derbys, Rotherham, nearly 30k v Barnsley, beating league leaders Charlton at the Valley on LWTV with Brian Moore commentating, whos up Mellors wife v Portsmouth, pitch invasion v Millwall, Kindon opening the scoring at Burnley before losing 4 2 when we realised we were going to miss out. I can go on.

Ok, fine - let's revere him for his one crucial goal amongst myriad anonymous performances. FFS. 🤦🏻♂️ Ince was a split second too slow in the Premier League. But I’ll be forever grateful to him for that goal. That’s how I feel about all the players we signed in the first season. I think it often gets overshadowed just what an achievement those first Premier League signings delivered by staying up… because it was bookended by a huge success and a huge disappointment.

But that article also describes Carlos' football as wonderful! Winning? Yes Wonderful? Absofuckinglutely not, turgid shit 90% of the time. But I didn't care, we were winning. Turgid shit?! Wow. Id love to know which seasons you really enjoyed our free flowing goals aplenty allied to scintillating success on the pitch. Just because we haven't played brilliant football all the time doesn't mean last season's wasn't shit. Like I say, I didn't care how shit the football was, we were winning. But it was nothing like the free flowing attacking stuff he tried at first.

Glad I'm not the only one p***ed off at some of our fans who talk about last season as if it was torture to watch. Ask fans of any team we faced last season (apart from the scabs) and they'll tell you we were a real threat and absolutely deserved our third place finish. Some folk don't know they're born. I'd absolutely love to see Knockaert in a Town shirt, maybe he's not quite at the level he was a few years ago, but if we can get him fit he's streets ahead of anyone currently in our squad. I didn't say we didn't deserve to be where we were and it was brilliant winning all the time. Towards the end of the season I NEVER expected us to lose games. Doesn't mean the quality of football wasn't shit. As stated before, I don't care how bad the football is if we're winning, ffs I LOVED Warnock's tenure but it wasn't exactly Barcelona-esque was it? Edit: Just to say I never mentioned torture either.

I can go on. That’s a right trip down memory lane and absolutely you could go on. Great days those watching Town, especially away. The period 1979 to 1983 remains my favourite ever as a Town fan.

Are you referring to his winner v Watford that helped secure our Premier League survival? Ok, fine - let's revere him for his one crucial goal amongst myriad anonymous performances. FFS. 🤦🏻♂️ Recollection may vary, I remember him contributing almost every time he played in one way or another. Not quite PL quality granted but great attitude and head and shoulders above the utter shyte we replaced him with (Mbenza, Diakhaby and Sobhi), not hard though that to be fair!

Edit: Just to say I never mentioned torture either. I completely agree, wonderfully effective and its all about winning but compared to the Wagner (or Warnock) season its nowhere near. Probably one of the weirdest seasons ever, Town were brilliant without ever looking very good! Was wonderful to see us beating the big boys week in, week out, finishing third, restoring pride and not being the whipping boys for a change, pride before a fall and all that!

Good luck to him. More than a whiff of Jason Puncheon to this signing though.

Has anyone noticed that when players are interviewed these days they often answer questions by saying " yeah ... No"! Like "yeah.... No I'm really happy to sign for the club"!

This, the Lowton signing and to a lesser extent suggests that the ownership (whatever situation we are in) are really committed to staying in the league.
