Southall was one hell of a keeper. Saw him coming out of a Hotel/bar in Llandudno in the early 90s, He opened both doors to walk out, like a rhinoceros, According to Wikipedia he was on loan to us in 1999. I don't remember that

I don't remember that I don't remember us signing him but now you mention that I can recall him warming up Town's keeper at Edgeley Park but I always assumed it was just to do some coaching, game sticks in my memory as it was the same night someone in the town end streaked. Scott Sellars got a late equaliser for Town.

I don't remember that Yeah he was, but I thought it was more a back up + coaching role. Not sure he ever played, but may have been on a bench or two.

Not sure he ever played, but may have been on a bench or two. Wikipedia is wrong, actually. He was the goalkeeping coach under Peter Jackson (presumably through his links with Terry Yorath) and was playing for Torquay United at the same time. Due to an injury crisis around the time of an F.A. Cup match with Derby County, 'Jacko' tried to loan him from Torquay but the move fell through. Phil Senior ended up on the bench instead.

Aaaah, that's what I remember then, the coaching part, which is why I put MAY about on the bench, glad I didn't check Wikipedia first though, though malcolm brown did. I remember seeing him taking up half the dugout, but couldn't remember why

They sum up all the entitlement bollocks from so many premiership clubs - I truly hope they go down.it also shows that poor management of huge funds cripples you.I still find it hard to believe that Towns premier league income plus parachute at nearly 300 million is gone.Truly amazing

I've nothing much against Everton but it would be a little bit funny at least if they did go down, after losing 2-1 to them in a league cup tie a few years ago i remember an Everton fan asking.."did you enjoy that blah blah blah" as if Everton were high and mighty the patronising twat, well we could be on a level playing field next season if we manage to stay up.

Apparently Everton are on the verge of signing a new striker... not sure whether it is a post man or a rail worker.

Everton fans have been deluded for decades. The glory years of the 1980s are a very long time ago. Will be interesting to see if their new stadium is up and running in time for "lower league football".

No more deluded that us Town fans banging on about being greatest team in football thanks to some success start of last century!! Everton are amongst the most successful domestic clubs in English football and have won titles as ‘recently’ as the 80s. They might not be one of the current elite clubs, but they have a decent pedigree

Interesting fact is that they have the second longest run of consecutive seasons in the top flight (behind Arsenal).
I remember Manchester United spending a season in the second division after Denis Law sent them down with his winner for Man City. Their fans caused havoc at every ground.

That the Denis Law backheel relegated Man Utd is one of football's most enduring myths. Even if United had won they'd still be relegated as they were dependent on Birmingham losing - who beat Norwich.

A pitch invasion brought the game to an early finish with Birmingham still playing.

Big game on Saturday against West Ham. Basically whoever loses, their manager gets sacked. Ironically, if Everton had got Moyes back and given him the money they’ve spent they’d probably be an established top six side by now.

It's crazy how much money these clubs spend on transfer fees each and ever season
Since the start of the 2018 summer transfer window:
Everton have spent over £360m West Ham £467m Southampton £268m Wolves £447m Leicester £320m Leeds £291m since summer window 2020. Forrest £160m since last summer
£2.3bn between 7 clubs. + Signing on Fees, Wages & Agents fees and it'll be well over £2.5bn.......just to be shit and in a relegation battle every year.
OK Leicester, West Ham and Wolves have had a good season or 2. But it soon dwindles and turns into relegation battles.
And that folks is the Premier League!!

Everton longest in Top flight but Arsenal longest in P.L. Not true I'm afraid. Arsenal have 89 consecutive seasons in the top flight, followed by Everton with 61. Since neither have ever been relegated from the PL (yet) they have identical records in that respect.
