We were born in the same year, 1969, so I remember sticking Asa Hartford stickers in my Panini album too. You could argue that Liverpool's fans at Heysel cost them a European trophy. But this is 2023 amigo, not a top 10 club anymore. Not currently. I don't think you'd need to argue it, it did. It also, probably, cost them winning more trophies as they lost Lineker to Barcelona, would he have left if they were in the European Cup 🤷. They aren't a top 10 club anymore but they should be (IMO) 😉

Their fans are a big problem for Everton. Koeman was in big trouble for hanging some red baubles on his tree. Lol

I was just thinking of teams who are bigger/better.. Bigger.Liverpool Arsenal Man City Man Utd Spurs Newcastle Chelsea Better (currently)Brighton Brentford Fulham Villa Palace Sorry but Chelsea and Man City aren't bigger historically. They are obviously better and have more money. Villa are similar.

There’s no argument that Chelsea and Man City aren’t currently bigger than Everton surely?

Everton were big in the mid 80s, the European ban really ballsed them up.

In my list of biggest clubs it is of all time, not whats happening right now. Chelsea barely got 10k in the second division when they were shite. Obviously the new money means the traditional hierarchy is changing. Would you say Bournemouth or Brentford are bigger than Huddersfield or Preston or Bolton? I wouldn't. They're just richer.

Don’t get this Chelsea negativity. Surely any club can spend as much as they want as long as they don’t break the rules. As for Everton the owner has clearly invested a significant sum of money poorly. Seems to me he is stuck at the moment using the money he is prepared to put in needing to use this to pay the escalating costs of the new stadium.

That policy is what’s destroyed footy softboy.... especially in Scotland. We had a truly competitive League until a guy called David Murray took over Rangers in 1988 and subsequently used his bloated ego to - with his friends from the Scottish establishment - bankroll trophy after trophy after trophy for his new pet project and the game in the top league here has never ever recovered here and probably never again will... Now Murray spent as much as he wanted on players to cheat his his fellow competitors in the top league until he was caught by thankfully HMRC in ENGLAND, trust me it would never have happened in Corrupt, Bent, Dishonest, and Fraudulent Scotland (at an establishment level anyway) ! Our League is eternally F#cked because of This utter SCUMBAG of The EARTH, WORLD, PLANET, UNIVERSE, call it whatever, He got caught breaking the ‘rules’ while playing within these ‘rules’ and the square root of zilch has been done to him and never will (tho no doubt if he was in an HONEST country like England he’d be in the Tin Pail (jail) now !!! SCUM like Murray and many others will find ways to break the rules ALWAYS they will so I respectfully disagree with the above in bold softboy... Money has destroyed the game (in Scotland in the top league anyway) and all I can say is Thank God for the likes of HUDDERSFIELD TOWN, and DUMBARTON FC and CLACHNACUDDIN of The Highland League - a million miles away from the dishonest owners of our top Leagues (and probably mostly second tier) owners who are destroyed a once great game and it’s sadly a thing of the past - top league competition - !!!!

I just hate up here that Aberdeen THIRTY EIGHT years ago were the last ones to win the top league - it is so so unhealthy for us up here - at least in England it’s someone different most years tho a lot do yo yo nowadays from The Premier League to The Championship and even Rotherham from League 1 to The Championship but it is nice to see new names (or even newer) names on the silverware and England is far better than Scotland for that for sure !!!

Great pro young Frank, kept quiet and proved Arry was right, one of the best midfielders in Premier League history Probably the best midfielder in PL history aside from maybe Patrick Viera, it's interesting to note that despite their prowess as players neither Lampard or Viera are tearing up an trees as managers, whereas managers like Eddie Howe and Thomas Frank who gad modest careers or in Frank's case none at all seem to be making managing professionally a doddle.

How much did Lampard benefit from having a Makalele and even an Essien? He often looked bang average for England. A lot of his goals were deflections and penalties too.
Don't get me wrong, a very good player nevertheless.

Forest looking at hijacking Everton’s move for Andre Ayew. A case of weakening the hand of a rival rather than strengthening their own squad?

I’m not sure how you come to the conclusion it was competitive up until 1988. Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs have won 4 each, Dumbarton 2, five other teams 1 since 1890!

During the 80's Aberdeen and Dundee Utd were serious competition for Celtic and Sevco I remember, but Dundee United only won it once in 82-83. Aberdeen three times (79-80, 83-84, 84-85) then lost their manager (whatever happened to him?) and their better players. So, the Scottish league was competitive between 1979 and 1985.

Rangers 55, Celtic 53 (let’s face it!), Hearts/Hibs/Aberdeen 4, Dumbarton 2 (the first few in the 1890s), Dundee and Dundee United 1, Motherwell and Kilmarnock 1 and Third Lanark in 1904!

Sky give football billions every year.. its up to football to manage that money properly for the good of the game, not Sky.

If someone gave me £1000 to look after my family but I went down the pub and blew it all on me having a great time, is that the person who gave me the grands fault when my family arent happy they didnt see any of it?

But the person who gave you a grand, gave someone else £50k and they’re having a better time with better quality booze! Then someone who arrived at the pub 10 minutes earlier can’t be arsed with the darts cup because finishing mid-table in the dominoes league gives them more money, etc.
